    Statesman's TF

No offense, but if you want to put something together on the forums, you need to wait longer than an hour... and not quadruple-post o_O
  2. Happy Dinah, Birtday!

    ...

    wait, what?
  3. Actually, i heard that the other player has to be within 3 levels of you, regardless of "combat level". So if you're level 50, ex'd down to 25, and you beat a "pure" lvl 25 character, you won't get a drop. I may be wrong about this though.
  4. ... did you type this in notepad with wordwrap on or something? It's disconcerting reading everything crammed off to the left!
  5. You would need to shell out money for your own webspace and domain name if you didn't want to worry about prudes dictating what you can/can't do. The only thing the admins of a paid server would take down is the same stuff that would get you in legal trouble. And oh yeah at that point they'd probably call the cops too. So as long as your "half-naked Sister Psyche" (really, when ISN'T she half naked?) isn't being depicted as an 8 year old, you should be fine.

Do some research on hosting companies. Many offer pretty sweet deals, but look out for things like limited bandwidth, "buy nao" specials (where you only pay 10 bucks a month for a few months but then it jumps to $30), or even forced advertising (very few paid services go that route as they're already getting money from you, but still..). Most will offer to buy your domain name FOR you, with the caveat they they get to keep it if you ever give your site up or something else happens. May or may not be a big deal.

Some places offer hosting for like 5 bucks a month (but paid yearly)... Watch out for these, they probably won't have the best service or server stats. May be an option if you're looking for something small. Anything over 30 bucks a month is probably a rip-off unless you have tens of thousands of page views a week and lots of interactive media (and thus need more bandwidth)

Try to find hosting review sites and cross-reference their articles. If (these adresses are only EXAMPLES and may or may not be real sites, i don't know!) "Reviewhosting.com" gives "Hosting-plus.net" an A, but "Hostreviews.com" gives it only 2 stars out of 5, make sure the first site and the site being reviewed aren't part of the same company! You can always do a "whois" query if you're unsure.

Or maybe someone else will have a more elegant solution for you. In any case, good luck!
  6. You also have to remember that when someone gets the badge for crafting -whatever- (be it lvl 25 damage or lvl 50 def), they can craft that IO WITHOUT a recipe for a PORTION of the normal crafting price! All you need is the salvage. Once you have that, craft it, put it on the market and boom, all profit.
  7. you could DELETE your post, flashrains >_>

Anyway, as per the OP, i don't think this would be viable in all cases. I can think of maybe 5 or 6 of my 2 dozen characters who WOULDN'T have a praetorian counterpart. And I'm sure a good chunk of the players on Virtue (ie the ones who'd actually care about something like this on a conceptual level) would be in the same boat. So to suddenly see such a character pop up in GR would be disconcerting.

Still sounds like it'd be cool, though!
  8. You know what's sad?

Half the lowbie sales you made were probably grabbed by flippers who are now relisting that salvage at a higher cost.

Otherwise, nice way to make 3 mil =)
  9. LR isn't your only problem. You've got 3 other things working against you durring this TF:

Psi damage from Fortunatas, Widows, Tarantuala queens, and Barracuda. Granted you won't face too much of any at once, but i've seen some scary moments due to these.

Dr. Aeon. If you fail to use the tree temp power correctly, he AND his clones will have huge buffs and will tear you apart. Just had this happen last night on a master run and the poor tank was down in 3 seconds.

Ghost Widow: she has a MAG 100 hold which does 500 damage per second or something ridiculous like that. You'll need someone with Clear Mind, Increase Density, or some other mez resist power to spam it on you when facing her Note that the attack can STILL hit and do damage, even if the mez doesn't apply; keep an eye on your health bar so you know when to hit DP. Speaking of heals, she has THREE of them, 2 of which are melee-ranged, and she can also Cage you. So standing your ground while everyone hits her from behind is workable, but if you're doing a Master run, it's best not to take any chances and keep her at range by running backwards around the airstrip and tanting her.

As for Lord Recluse, the Blue Tower is actually your biggest problem. It increases LRs Attack Speed, ToHit (Some people say this is what the orange tower does, but I've noticed Recluse's ability to hit me drop after blue goes down, so, w/e) and status affliction (i think), which makes your defense worthless. Here's what you want:

A pocket healer. A Emp or Kin or Dark will do nicely.

You want to stand on the Green Tower's platform. It counts as an enemy and will give you an extra tick on Invincibility, and will also allow the Kin or Dark to heal you.

LARGE inspirations. Before fighting LR, go to your SG base and stock up on large (tier 3) purple and orange candy... and get some large blues, too. See, LR has a massive end drain/recovery attack that WILL make your life miserable (and short) if it hits. This is even worse than getting damaged, because HP can be recovered easily... Endurance, not so much unless the pocket Kin is paying attention.

So once you're all set, pop TWO of each of the purple and orange candys, then run in and taunt Recluse from melee. Then jump to the green tower... remember to stand ON its platform. Continue taunting... do NOT attack! Pop one of each of the purple and orange insps every minute until both the red and blue towers are down. After that, if you have sufficient outside buffs, you can pretty much go afk. Remember to move Recluse to the corner or doorway once the team is ready to take out the green tower and from there he's just a big bag of HP (you have to move him there because otherwise the flier may spawn right on top of you and make things.. interesting). He'll summon lvl 54 Bosses but your team can AoE them or pin them using any number of abilities.

I've successfully done the STF on Master with my Invuln/EM, and yes I have IOs, but they're a non-factor. You already need outside help to have sufficient defense/resist/recharge/etc to stand against Recluse regardless of your build, IOs are just icing on the cake.

Remember: Buffs, inspirations, stand on tower. You'll be good =)
  10. ..Can't you pick it up at level 6?

  12. Well, i don't know CC very well, but i DO know about TK.

    1) It has a 5 target max. This isn't an issue if you're trying to grab containment on a single or a few targets.

    2) It pushes foes away, and unless you have a CORNER or you like to keep moving, simply pining them to a wall won't do because the foes will scatter sideways and eventually be unheld

    3) Its base recharge is 60 seconds. It would be best to use Tk to clump foes, hit your AoE and terrify, then let go, THEN hit Mass hypnosis and hit your AoE again. It might just be better to use mass hyp along with Mass Confusion so that you don't get agro'd on when the foes wake up.

I don't know much about CC so i can't definitely recommend it over TK, but it it would seem to be the better power in this case.

    Mind/Kin builds

Siphon Power and Fulcrum shift do NOT take any IO sets. All they take is recharge, accuracy, and end redux. But if you get enough Acc and recharge bonuses, you can just slot SP for 1 end redux and FS for one acc + one recharge and you'll be golden.

PToD don't offer debuff resistance, though as enemies scale up, they become more naturally resistant to debuffs anyway (Look up "Purple Patch" for more on this).

LoTG only fits in Defense powers. The best you could hope for is Hover, Combat Jumping, Weave, Maneuvers and your Epic armor or some of the stealth pool powers. But that's a lot of powers to stack a recharge bonus, you're better off just getting hasten and trying to get it perma using siphon speed and smaller recharge bonuses, and Purples if you can afford 'em.

If you want a better idea of what powers take what sets, i cover that in my Mind/Kin guide here, if you haven't already read it.
  17. Hmm... Too lateral and boring to use in my picture, but i'll search out some other pics for more dynamic poses! Great idea, thanks!

    Mind/Kin builds

You're a Kin and have problems with damage?

Here's the thing: RECHARGE is the key, along with a healthy smattering of accuracy. That way, Total dom and Fulcrum Shift are almost always ready.

Controllers do extra damage when something is slept, held, immob'd or disoriented. Since Mind doesn't HAVE any immobs or disorients, its up to Mesmerize, Dominate, Mass Hypnosis, Total Domination and TK to help you get double damage every time. Unfortunately, sleep breaks when someone is attacked and holds are very short in duration and take forever to come back up (especially the AoEs). Tk is an end hog and continually pushes foes away from you.

So I recommend speccing for recharge. Get Hasten. Use Siphon Speed WHENEVER it's up (I find it best to use SS on a foe who's getting Knocked up by levitate; even if they run out of HP on the way up, you can still target them before they hit the ground and get your buff). This way, you have TD up as much as possible and can benefit from double damage as often as possible.

Siphon Power i'm iffy on. I mean figure this: Cast Total dom. Run in, use fulcrum shift. Use siphon speed. Hit Hasten. Hit Siphon Power. Back up and hit Terrify and your epic AoE... oops, Hold duration is over and no one's dead yet! The Siphon power was technically a waste of time in that scenario, especially since everyone is still one hit away from dying regardless. Having SP is just one more thing you're compelled to do and it doesn't even make a difference in your killing speed. Sometimes.

I'll post my build: it's not built for pure damage, but it does pretty good:

Other things you can do that i haven't done here is invest in Stun procs: the Pounding Slugfest one will fit in brawl, boxing, kick, air superiority, jump kick, or Flurry; The Energy Manipulator proc will fit in Transfusion and Transference. The basic idea here is to use powers that normally don't give a containment effect to do so and allow you to double your damage during your next attack. Also, the Decimation hold proc will go in any ranged powers. Use as many of those as you can!

You may want to consider deviating from this build to fit in Siphon Power, Assault and Tactics, as well as whatever epic you like the most. Earth would be a good choice min/max wise: it comes with an extra hold and a aoe Knockdown power which you can put a stun proc into =) Also, the single target attack does a crapload of damage.

Finally, know your limits. Most robots, Carnies, Ritki and some Arachnos troops have some measure of psi resistance... and that's most of your foes in the late game! So your lack of damage may stem from that, also.

    Hope this helps!
  19. The thing is, Supes is beyond the scope of this game's ATs. He can do more damage than anything in this game, and can take harder hits. But a lot of the time he cherry-taps everything on purpose and has no KB protection when he isn't expecting to get hit. However, at peak strength, he can shrug off a nuclear blast and can move a whole planet-sized being that's actively thrusting against him. He's always -just- as strong, tough, or intelligent as he HAS to be.

This is why i mentioned scrappers. Very few Tanks have the damage to take down an AV solo, but scrapper-level damage combined with capped defenses should easily do the trick.

Have you posted this announcement elsewhere? Perhaps in general chat you might get a few more bites?

It looks cool, but i'm a bit too swamped to participate. Plus, I'm a Virtuite through and through, so no Protector toons for me =.
  23. Friends! Forumites, kindred gamers, lend me your monitors!

The state of the game is GOOD! The subscription numbers are steady, with minor dips and rises which are expected in this medium. Players are running task forces, engaging in raids, teaming, soloing, Rping, PvPing, farming, marketing and more! They're tweaking their builds or making new alts... In short, it is a good time to be a City of Heroes player!

Yes, these may seem like trying times. There is a new Superhero MMO on the market with at least one more on the way. And there's the new Star Trek MMO which invariably has enticed fans of super-hero games... but we're still here! And better than ever! The increased competition has forced the dev team to go into overdrive in developing new content that we're all waiting to hear more about... and when we do hear about it, the majority of us will LIKE what we see and hear and will embrace whatever changes come our way!

Remember Power Customization and how it came as a COMPLETE surprise? This is proof that the devs may very well have awesomeness unfortold hiding within their offices, ready to kick our butts and leave us begging for more! So fret not at the lack of news. Just know that when the Devs are free to speak, it will be awesome. In the meantime, we must be patient. Our patience has been rewarded in the past, and it will continue to be, both now and in the months and years ahead.

So there you have it, the state of the game.

... Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go watch my Night Elf dance...
  24. It's not good to rely on it for a constant buff.

That said? Once in a while when i get my long-recharge powers recharging 3-8 seconds faster and they pop up just in time when i need them because the proc went off a minute ago? It's awesome!
  25. You just need to grab stamina and maybe get some IO sets that give you extra recovery. Tanks are meant to be slow moving, so losing endurance helps maintain that "slow" feeling. Also, Tanks are team players: get a kin and/or a rad on your team and they'll take care of your endurance blues (pun not intended) while you handle the agro! You're never more powerful than when you have a good defender backing you up!
