  1. Yes, I've looked at the official minimum and recommended system requirements, but what I am curious about are what other users have found to be their recommended system specs to play the game (especially in CoV Grandville, which is unplayable on my system), being as I'm looking at possibly having a friend build me a system.

    Thanks.
  2. Subjective: It's nice that the completion of story arcs means something beyond the arc XP bonus plus and the souvenir at the end of the arc. (I'd love to see the souvenirs mean something, though).

Objective: I'm level 13 and have a whole 7 merits to my credit. As a person who doesn't have much time to run task forces, this is a pain in the tail. This brings me to the subjective opinion that the cost of recipes at the merit vendor is prohibitively high.
  3. Note, these are the comments of one who has only played solo thus far.

Objective: End use is high even soloing. And the Mez/knockback resistance being a clickie instead of a toggle is a pain in the butt.

Subjective: I like the look of shields. But for the look, one could have added a Shields Pool Power set that would have given every AT access to shields plus some benefits.
  4. I am still having extreme lag in any zone where there's an invasion whether I'm in the fray or not on any server. The closer the battle is, the worse it is. But my 50 was in Talos, and just got off the train and was lagged. The battle was on the hill that's to the left as you get off the train, but it wasn't at the train station per se. I tried turning my graphic settings way down, but it still didn't help.

{EDIT} This is any server, any zone as far as I can tell. Talos was really bad... I have two toons in Talos, one on Infinity and one on Guardian. And, as I said, I don't even have to be in the battle to be affected.

    Also, mapservering in mission is becoming a problem, too, though far less annoying than the Rikti lag. {End EDIT}

I just ran a DxDiagnostic. Here are the results:

  5. [ QUOTE ]

All in all, I'd say that the patch helped those of us that have "sub-par" computers right now.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, your subpar must be better than my subpar computer. :P At least I didn't get mapservered, but I might as well have. I had to guess and mash buttons and hope that whatever was targetted I was near to while looking at a nearly still toon that changed position maybe once a minute. I tried going to Menu/Quit but the game was so lagged it wouldn't even bring up the menu.
  6. The lag still kills me. I was in Talos. Didn't knock me off line. But what's the point if you are staring at your frozen toon and unable to move? I think I got XP for like 3 of them. I couldn't even log off because my system was that bogged down by it all.

Also, I had a bomb I was working on by my lonesome, got it to about half when I was knocked back. By the time I was on my feet and to the bomb again and resumed smacking at it, (solo) a full team had jumped on it and so I hardly got anything (I think about 20 XP), even though it was halfway down when they got to it. Something's not right there.

See my system stats in my sig file below.
  7. Great guide! But, there's one thing I might add about Super Hero/Villain names... How it sounds.

    1. Alliteration is often used in comic books and movies for names. Victory Vixen, to use a name of one of my toons, is a good example of alliteration.

    2. Rhyming, or names where the words at least end on a similar note. Kung Fu Sue, for example, for a martial arts toon, or The Thriller Chiller for one with ice abilities. (Heh, it's late... I'm pulling these out of my... um... hat at the moment. But you get the idea.)
  8. [ QUOTE ]
yes thats true and i am officially completely bummed. i was so looking forward to this and now, i can't get it because they dont accept mastercard.
i think that was a terrible idea on there part

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not accepting MasterCard? Where did you find this out?
  9. Long hair clipping into capes is still a problem this screenshot of Kitty Baroque (sense a costume theme there? ) illustrates the problem. Unfortunately, Kitty ended up having to go with a short style instead of the long one she started with to make the cape work. This was just taken this evening:

Kitty Baroque, trying on a cape with her long hair. See how it clips?
  10. Thank you! And, my husband thanks you, too. No, not because he was wanting to take a better screencap (though, he probably will appreciate the pointers) but because he was having to endure my questioning him about it at length just last night in a half hour long discussion that left both our heads throbbing.

CuppaJo or Cricket , could one of you please stick this in the Guides ?
  11. <ul type="square">[*]IMPORTANT! Lower Body/Tight Tech Crey bottoms selection is missing for Male and Huge.[*]Wings is missing under the Saxon and Viking helmets for Females. I'll come back later if I thnk of more.

Thanks, Jay. When are you getting your own Red Name ?
  12. [ QUOTE ]
If they were to add new patrons, I'm sure they will give everyone a chance to change. They never said the PPPs will always be permanent. Most likely new PPPs would mean new patrons, who probably aren't loyal to Arachnos. They probably wouldn't care if you betrayed Arachnos to join them.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Actually, yes, they did say that Patrons would be permanent, you cannot respec out of them. And they also said that they would laver be adding another patron that's non-arachnos in origin.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
I just wish I could go into any missions without crashing, and then being unnable to log that version of the character again.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I wish that Cryptic would test on a typical user's system, one like mine *points to sig file below* rather than their uber systems for their quality testing. Seriously. Most users do not have the super systems. If this goes live like this, my husband and I may not be able to play any toons past level 40. And if that happens, that would probably be enough to make us just stop playing the game at all, even as much as we love the game.
  14. [ QUOTE ]

The City Rouge Isle Map needs to be updated... it does not indicate a route (or line) to get to GV, Black Line or Ferry...

    [/ QUOTE ]

    &lt;nitpick&gt;
It's Rogue.... Rouge is cosmetics to blush the cheeks, or French for the color red.
  15. Charged brawl's accuracy leaves much to be desired. Please fix this.

  16. This doesn't have anything to do with the comic situation (I see I'm not the only one, by the way thanks for answering my PM), does it?

    Going to miss you! {{hugs}}

BTW can someone fill me in on the stealth nerf revoked bit? I've been away from the game for over a month (due to work and personal reasons) so I don't know if this is regarding some recent change that was revoked, or the way stealth has worked for the last few months suddenly changed.

    [/ QUOTE ]
From the test server patch notes last week:

You are no longer allowed to interact with mission objectives while you are stealthed or untouchable.

The part about steathed is being jettisoned as it's heavy-handed and, more importantly I think, it opened up griefing possibilities. Check the Dev Digest for Statesman's recent posts. He's been chatty this week.

    [/ QUOTE ]

*nod* It did leave in the untouchable part, though, I noticed. And I'm fine with that. It makes sense.

We were playing DND (at the table, not on the computer) with some friends and this one fellow was playing a psionic thief. We were looking for a way to open a door. So the thief went ectoplasmic and went scouting around.

"I found a lever. I'm going to pull it!"

    "You can't"

About a dozen rolls later he is finally human again. "I'm so glad I'm solid!" the thief cried, "I pull the lever!"

DM said, "You see a large boulder rolling down the hallway at you, that was a trap."

So, thus, to my mind untouchable/intangible means "Not solid" and "Not Solid" can't grasp or touch.
  18. Thanks again! *smooches and hugs*

All of that sounds really great!

And.... Will we be hearing something about a newspaper mission and collaborative missions for CoH soon, too? *fingers and toes crossed hopefully*
  19. [ QUOTE ]
but there isn't much risk in clicking on a computer.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Heh... You haven't seen my computer, have you? :P Though, I shouldn't complain (much) - it may be a 5 year old computer, but I've had worse and scarier...
  20. Unfortunately, bases are too costly for small family sized SuperGroups, even with inviting all our Alts. The bases seem more geared toward those with huge supergroups. It would be nice if dynamic duos could affor bases, too. I don't want to raid or be raided, I just want the workshop and the medical center more than anything. Especially the medical center.
  21. I agree... Here I was all excited about my costume token, but no new duds to choose from.
  22. I have that one and target_enemy_near$$follow as standard set up procedures for any melee character, and some ranged charagers get the above additional one, too.
  23. Um, there is no "Blapper" AT to select from. There is Scrapper which is Melee, and Blaster which is Ranged. If you choose to play your ranged character in melee range, then you should deal with the consequences of that choice.
  24. [ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]
OK - here's the most likely outcome...

If you own both games, you get all options - the new CoV sets will be accessible for your heroes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Lame, heroes should look different than villains.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Except that Villains already get the same costume pieces as heroes and then some. And there are some real heroic looking villains running around right now. So they can't use that argument.

And, besides, haven't you heard, you can't judge a book by it's cover? And isn't that part of the premise of characters such as Wolverine and Hulk and other heroes that the populace is scared of on sight?

    [/ QUOTE ]

And, since the premise of the CoV cape mission is to Steal a Hero's Cape we should have the capes, too. Right, Statesman?
