Although, remember... everyone will be coming to you as well!!

Yes! Now, what was it we agreed to back when you brought this up?
We have to make this happen now!!
    Woot!!

A good starting premise might just be difference of opinions/mindsets on how to deal with... the Praetorian Invasion? Something else maybe?

    Hmmm...
  2. Oh yes indeed, the style of story advancement through something similar to the Tip Mission system would be fantastic.

Some story arcs even work like this... when you complete one mission and it immediately leads to the next one.
Those tend to feel the most dynamic.
So long as they don't automatically start a time sensitive/timed mission, I love that manner of progression and would welcome more stuff for all levels along the lines of how Tip Missions are handled.

That system is the closest thing we have to dynamic mission/story content, as opposed to the messenger/servant boy system of most mmorpgs.

I'm not saying that development should be spent on redoing everything (or anything), but adding more options along the lines of the Tip system (and adding them in for low level) would be great.
I think it'd be great to introduce that more natural/dynamic system of story progression/action development as early as possible.
  3. Actually... it begs the question: Should there be a Nictus Secondary as well?
Shields, drains, all the fun stuff!
  4. As someone who is not very into the numbers (and also might be missing something lore-wise)...

I like the Nictus Mastermind idea very much.
The power suggestions look pretty cool to me!
Regardless of tweaks or changes that may be needed, the idea of a Nictus Mastermind is brilliant!

    You are hired!
I'll double the pay I was giving you before!
  5. I am a bit jealous now that I cannot customize my Protector Bots' force shields!
    Thanks Sam!!
  6. Thanks, Zwill!
I was hoping to catch the next I20 event, but I wasn't able to make it home until after it was over.
And... I wasn't sure until now, but I will not be driving over to Boston tonight.
Last year, we made the three hour trek to hang out and talk and have a lot of fun.
However, I'm not going to be able to make it over there tonight.
I'd be on my own too... which could be trouble!!

I would have loved to see some of you again (and some for the first time). Hopefully I'll catch you guys in New York when you head out there!

Ava, I hope you manage to have a nice time despite Cylar and my absence!!

    Hehe... have a blast, everyone!

And yeah... everyone in and near Japan and everywhere that may be affected by the enormous waves are heavily on my heart and mind.
  7. Yeah... massive is a good word for this. As well as devastating.
I have some family currently in multiple areas nearby (just vacationers and ex-pats). My brother seems to be fine (I don't think it's headed in his direction, nor a problem in the specific geographic location he's in... but I contacted him as this started last night).

The footage of the damage and of the tsunami, indeed, have been... (finding it hard to grasp suitable words)... insane/terrifying/massive/incredible/tragic.

That water on its own is tremendously powerful (no duh), but it's not just water with all of that debris (including cars, boats, trucks, etc).

Anyway... some great words in this thread already. Thank you for the links.
And I agree with Oz... Paragon City sounds good right about now.

    Best wishes to everyone.
  8. Hey! So, whatsa da astoria here, eh??

    That is awesome, Sam!
I knew about the zombies' breaths and auras and stuff, but I honestly did not realize that the Death Knight's dark blasts were changed with those options as well!

And here I thought this post was to celebrate some customization awesomeness from the i20 beta...

I've not yet checked it out myself (I haven't the time to test and unlock incarnate stuff on test these days), but I've heard that the Incarnate Powers are customizable and I dare say that that too is a thing of power customization awesomeness!!

What we need now is the triad... Customization for the rest of the Power Pools!!
(How I am eagerly awaiting that!!)

  11. I am certain that the good citizens of this game world can behave with civility and share a sense of community with each other and that they can act with respect to their fellow players and make concessions to allow every one and all to perform the tasks they have been assigned without interference.
  12. If they do ever retire him from the cereal business, maybe he can get a job in the carrot business!

And yeah... go figure they'd do some misreporting, hehe...

    HAHA!

While *true, that made me laugh enough to make me want to post it.

    * Unfortunately there are some out there like this, but we can't really call them "writers" now can we?
  14. By the same token...
If a team of 8 all with these Judgment AOEs is really all that (And I'm thinking it will be)... it's not really just Blasters that it "trivializes".
What's the point of any debuffs, controls, resistances/defenses when you have that fire power?

Anyway... I'm not going to let my brain wonder into doomville.
Even if things get that ridiculously skewed... hopefully I'll still have a bunch of fun! I'll let others worry about it!
  15. I don't know.
I hope you are right, Dechs.
Looking at things at a glance it seems like a 90 second crashless nuke for all is more extreme than the other powers coming along...
However, I could be totally wrong. Maybe the other powers match up to providing every AT with a Tier 9 level power from another AT?

And yeah... my first thought was Two Nukes for me!!
Then I thought about a team of 8, all with said nukes...
And, I hate to say it, but I find myself thinking along the same lines as Another_Fan.

    For normal content/foes, at least.
Maybe with the other Incarnate Powers factored in, it will balance things out.

EDIT: For the record, I haven't been mulling this over and feeling bummed by it or anything.
Although... now that I've been thinking about it... the future game could be rather odd (and not necessarily the kind of odd I enjoy, haha!).
  16. I love the popup, but I understand people's different frustrations with certain things.

This is the only thing that annoys me with Mystic Fortune these days...

I know that not everyone on Virtue is a role-player, hehe...
But I do not understand it when I'm playing with a group of role-players and having a fine time role-playing and heading to whatever adventure/mission/quest/thing and one of the characters just throws a Mystic Fortune at me... no dialog, no IC explanation of anything to do with it...
Just the big ol' animation of throwing magical cards at me and a popup in front of me (which I will DECLINE within a heartbeat).

Now, if a character makes it a part of their character or provides some sort of IC reasoning and such... My character will make the decision of whether they'll accept the process (If they have a choice, based on whatever is going on/the explanation behind the power, etc).

And yeah... I don't really need the little buffs, thank you, hehe... we were just steam-rolling the enemies without them!

Now... when you wipe a bunch or something crazy has happened and it's time to bring every single thing everyone can in order to get things back on track and finished in a timely manner... Okay, then... I'm not going to slow us down by refusing.

    Otherwise...
Me hates the stupid spinning cards graphics and the annoying sound affects that come up each damn time they appear and spin around me for the duration of the buff which doesn't even go away if you are defeated or logout!

So, yeah... Decline is my friend!
  17. Coming Soon:

Using the most advanced Computer Graphics and Super Advanced AI systems (and the extensive library of <Fill In corporate studio's name> ) we will be delivering to you Choose your own movies!!

Now... the power of the reboot is YOURS!

(Coming next summer: Varying Plot Choices!!)

  18. I had apparently created my own security questions... One being a rather cryptic riddle!
Fortunately, being the creator of it, that one I answered correctly on the first go (after a moment's pause of consideration)...
However, the birthday question... I got wrong 3 times... Haha...

Well, since it is available in the character creator for a brand new character that's never been logged in yet, I'd say it is a global account reward (like the Pocket D VIP badge).
  20. We don't know if they've done work on the individual powers themselves or not, but what they have said is that there needs to be UI to access and customize it (right now, we only have that for our Primary and Secondary) and they said that it'd have to wait until after Going Rogue.

I started a thread a while ago asking for people's feedback and... yeah, we're certainly not alone.

I wish they could have gotten Power Pools and Epic Pools done before Going Rogue.

It seemed to have fallen lower on their big list, based on some responses at some conventions (maybe it was the Seattle Q&A... not positive).

For me, it's in such an unfinished state (not that such things are ever "finished", as there's always more that can be done) with Epic Pools not being able to match primary and secondaries and without being able to customize common Power Pool options.

They need to decide how a character should be able to access the screens for it, design those screens/tabs/UI, code it, test it and implement it.

Putting it off for Going Rogue and now Incarnate stuff makes some of us

It's the only thing I really want to see happen right now, hehe. That's just my opinion and preference though.

I think it is a global account reward and will be available to you for any character you have or create from then on.

I was able to create new characters with it... but yeah, it's possible I'm wrong and that once the limited time is turned off it wouldn't be available any more... I'd doubt that, but I can't say I honestly know.

    Haha!

As to the rest of the words in that post... I'll just say that "common sense" isn't so common, is it? And, if so (or "not", I suppose), it should be called something else.

One other caveat about my posts and thoughts on the topic of this thread... I don't have any emotional charge behind it. My personal playtime fun comes from certain aspects that some others share and some others don't. My playstyle and preferences are no greater and no lesser than anyone else's.

Further rambling (thus ensuring no one will read this either):

Most (if not all) design decisions come down to what and how much can be done within what amount of time and the prioritization of said possibilities.
Opinions, personal and of the whole picture, come into play in prioritizing and that is where we may disagree.

There's nothing wrong with discussing opinions of prioritization and preferences.
Also, if some people act ridiculously in the name of such and such cause/belief... it doesn't make anyone who shares the same belief/preference ridiculous. So, let's not jump on people for discussing things of this topic's nature.
What was wrong, earlier on, is people making blanket statements about posters offering feedback and such.
If you want to admonish someone... quote them and deal with them directly. Don't try and put down the entire faction of people with such opinions.

I'm not actually sure if this did or did not happen, but I highly doubt Incarnate powers would alter themselves to fit your powersets. Just doesn't seem like something that's very likely.

This is sort of what I talk about when I bring up customization and the homogeneity of powers, pets included. It doesn't seem like customization is a high priority at all. OF COURSE all powers couldn't be made to fit all player characters, I get that. But the solution to that is to let people customize them and make these powers fit, themselves. The most obvious example is how we were able to make Energy Blast and Energy Manipulation fit together, as well as how we could make Energy Manipulation fit Radiation Blast.

This homogeneity, perceived or real, is a symptom of what I see as a very worrisome problem - that the development team seems to have overfocused on systems and mechanics and such, and left the visuals behind.
I agree and feel the same way. It is basically what I've said in my long reply in this thread and before in other topics about the Judgment Powers and further power customization.

    Right!
For all we know they will include power customization.
I really hope so. Not just so I can customize it, but because I'd be very happy to know that the developers are committed to keeping things customizable and continuing with that in mind, as opposed to going backwards (adding more things without customization options).

Power Pools and Epic Pools (and EATs) need the proper UI for Power Customization to be designed, developed and implemented and all...

The work to do that was put off in favor of Going Rogue... and then for continued Going Rogue Incarnate Content.
Well, since this Incarnate Content is going to include powers that should also have Power Customization...
Designing, coding and implementing that needed UI for further Power Customization should be a main focus and should come before or along with the new Judgment Slot Powers.

That's just my opinion. I, personally, wouldn't have put off customization for all pools to this point... So, I certainly am all for making sure it is done before the Judgment Powers come around.
I can only hope that the focus for Power Customization has been packaged into the focus on the Incarnate System.

I can't say that I believe it has or will be... But we don't know yet. And I hope, if it hasn't, it will be.
  24. This could possibly help some of you...
(no, I'm not going to say GET GLASSES... )

Bind a key for a PopMenu. When you lose your mouse, hit that key and the The PopMenu always appears wherever your mouse is.
Might not really save any time from finding it the hard way of swirling it around until you see it... But... I just figured I'd offer the idea, in case it might!

There are so many wonderful things you can do with the /popmenu command beyond this, but, who knows... maybe it can be of some help for this as well!

(For the record, I have lost where the mouse is a few times as well, hehe!)
