Quote:This stance is such bull...So basically what I see here is people crying because they are not getting the same amount of reward that we get from running teams of 24? You are in the wrong game. Way to make a lame attempt to bring teaming in an MMO (social based multi player game) to a grinding halt. The idea of the game is to try and influence teaming not stop it.
And honestly if you are soloing all the time what in the heck do you really need incarnate powers for anyhow?
The simple answer has been in front of your faces the whole time, if you don't like to team I have one word for you "X-BOX"
MMORPGS are not all about teaming for missions.
Players who solo (or duo or trio or whatever-o) still buy things, sell things, interact to things in-between missions, show up to social events...
Just because your focus is on whatever you deem important doesn't make it so for everyone else.
And so you really think the reason for teaming is only because soloing isn't viable? And you think that's a good thing?
So, people who would rather solo or do smaller things should, instead, take part in larger teaming events so that others can take part in larger teaming events?
In that case, everyone should be required to role-play and take part in costume contests, build bases, badge hunt, buy and sell things regularly on the market (if not, you're hurting the game's overall economy, after all)...
Oh, do you not care about those things as much as teaming being superior and more justifiable than soloing?
Too bad, mate.
Or...
We could just all agree to allow reasonable levels of viability for it all and have a happy community of varied players (many of whom enjoy a bit of everything, by the way, even if their main preference and focus is one extreme or the other).
Grow beyond your own limited view of things. -
I hope you continue keeping track of this. The more actual data we have on on this method, the less speculation will be necessary (on the overall required totals).
Also... it's not like running at those mission difficulty settings is normal.
This is the most extreme as far as efficiency goes. -
The big problem with your original post and this whole thread is that even you have acknowledged that there are problems/flaws in the stance against people having complaints.
You say that the costume and emote rewards are due to the incarnate gain in power... but then you concede that not all of them are explainable that way and that you can't disagree with those complaints (and good for you - seriously- you're a reasonable person).
You say all auras are a representation of acquired power in-game, but Boosters are a different story.
And, as for the solo and/non incarnate path... This thread may prove interesting, if the OP continues his study (and others have projected the numbers in the past elsewhere).
Everyone just needs to accept that there are some valid complaints (and some invalid ones, for sure). People aren't making up things to complain about for sport (well, there are always some, right?). They honestly feel this way, because it is honestly making their fun-time less fun.
It's not that difficult to understand and it is not that difficult to accept...
And, hopefully, everything will come out in the wash and the Development Team will continue to do their thing in making things cool on a more balanced level for the varying preferences of this game's community.
Arguing extremes is silly on either side of any disagreement.
I enjoy the trials, mainly for the varied objectives within the quick mission/event.
However, I've always enjoyed smaller teams or soloing in this game. It just gives me a more dynamic comicbook enjoyment to the action. I like every character being in the spot light, like a Fantastic Four comicbook... You see each one of them do every single one of their powers... not some large visual mess of 8+ heroes using powers left and right until health bars drop.
I do enjoy big group things from time to time as well... but more as a rare exception and not as a daily quota.
And, yeah, the term "force" is misused and not correct... But you (and everyone) can see truth in what people are saying... If you want these rewards - be they costume pieces (including non-incarnate pieces), auras, emotes or powers... you have little choice of content.
Hopefully that will change over time, as they build more content and add different types of content (small team, solo, etc.). Most everyone saw this coming before the first wave of the endgame content went live. The best reasoning I saw about it was that the powers and such had to be balanced against the big team content... and then they'd have a better grasp for balancing other types of content.
Hopefully that ends up being true.
I'm, personally, not entirely happy with some of the decisions made about the endgame content and the incarnate stores and their developmental focus... But I understand that not everything in a game for thousands of different players is going to fully please me.
I'll voice my opinions, stay if I am still having fun (I am!) and leave if I am not.
Most importantly... everyone should try and remember that we don't need to convince each other of anything.
And, on the flip side, it's okay to listen to what people are saying without thinking How can I counter them. Try and accept that they're not loonies (no more than everyone else) and understand that there are different preferences, playstyles, opinions and definitions. -

Love the comicbook loading screen!! That's a great way to start things off... love it!
I also like the idea of a zone event for all of us from this too... that sounds interesting and potentially a very cool idea!
I have to say that I do love the whole breaking out of jail option for Villains.
While I think this new tutorial sounds like a great idea, I am sad to see the Villain Tutorial go away (Yes, I know it'll still be accessible in Ouroboros, but that's not the same).
Not suggesting this for now or this game...
But it would be cool to have options for starter tutorials so people could base them on their concepts.
Just a neat idea (that could require a ridiculous amount of focus, work and resources for a very limited use)...
Anyway... really love the idea of an opening comicbook for the load-ins.
And very interesting that this'll be a part of those signature arcs too. -

I don't see anything wrong with it at all.
As for his arm, I'm thinking he's going to bring around a nice left hook as his target closes in.
They're both moving closer together, likely very quickly.
Anyway... Don't know why anyone has a problem with the face, but I do love the use of "great googly moogly" so all is good! -
Quote:Just wanted to stress my agreement in this view....Though I may be biassed, because I've always felt that City of Heroes is the most fun when things go wrong. When everything's regular as clockwork, the game becomes boring.
It's not only been true for me in this game, but some of the greatest fun I've had in table top RP games has been when things go insanely wrong, haha.
Great times! -

Haha, yeah, I figured there'd be a bunch of us.
I did send it before posting, but we'll see who's arrives first.
Regardless, welcome back!
And HAW HAW @ Dechs! -
Quote:Hmm... I missed this...As I recall, we will be getting the ability ro buy 2 more costume slots with paragon points.
And yeah, they said more tailors, right? Or might they just give us easier access or something?
Dr. Aeon could mass produce a pocket dimension closet/wardrobe.
I get the feeling that they'd rather not get rid of the need of Icon and Facemaker though... so, I'm not pushing for that idea. -
I suppose it would have to be the two battling for top spot in my forum avatar, Electric-Knight and Malfaz...
E3 Blaster and Mind/Psi Dom, respectively. -
Quote:Yeah, I honestly think that the focus of Ack, we must all FLEE to the VIP server!! was just a knee-jerk reaction to "We're going Free-To-Play, but we're providing you with a new server that will only be for subscribers".Well, the responses in this thread are making me feel a little better about my concerns at least.
Hopefully all your attitudes toward it extend across the rest of the playerbase.
I've been out ofthe loop since a little bit before the news broke about Freedom, so I've been skimming here and there as I've had time. Unfortunately, it seems my skimming led me to the more negatively toned threads.
I'll stick around for a while and see how this all pans out. And hey, even if I decide I don't want to give NCSoft my money anymore, at least I'll still be able to log in and kill ****.
It's like saying... "Don't panic! Put on this helmet and breath mask and fire retardant suit and double check your parachute and if you do not have crocodile repellent, try to stay close to someone who does... But REMEMBER, there is NO reason to PANIC!!".
Well, it's not really like that, but it was fun to type out and I think there was plenty of knee-jerk reactions to the initial announcement.
We've all grown up and matured so much since then... -
Not sure what to say, really...
The two are very different styles.
I think the best way I can say it is that the purple one is a bit too lifeless for my tastes.
Maybe if the hair were just a bit more flowing... and maybe a bit more white.
That being said, I am not convinced it is too bad to use or anything.
Just looking at the two in comparison, those were my opinions (even without comparing, actually).
Of course, it is possible that this book veers the character into a situation more befitting of this stark look and feel. If that were a major part of the story it makes much more sense.
Hope that helps in some way!
EDIT:
Just realized that this whole post sounds way more negative about the one pic than I really feel!
The bottom line is that THAT as a cover for a novel is not a turn off to me at all.
I actually like the way it pops, and I think that is a very good quality for a book cover. -
All the concerns are based on the major IF in the first concern.
And, I don't see any reason to believe that that IF will go the negative way.
I would imagine, if the game goes into the sewers because of the influx of F2P riffraff, Paragon Studios would try to make adjustments to make things better more quickly than the existing playerbase would be fleeing in peril.
And, no, I don't expect the F2P terror to hurt the community in this way.
All the reasons against mass exodus to the VIP servers seem to be too great to think that the other servers will become ghost towns.
One other thought could be this: Any of the players looking to jump into the VIP server are probably not the kind that would help the new free players to enjoy and go further with this game anyway! -
Quote:Mephisto?>.> I just learned there is supposed to be a animated show based on Ultimate Spider-Man...
the problem is it is set 1 year after he gets his power which places him right before ultimatum and his death by the mid point of the season >.> how do they plan to make this work i wonder.

Oh, joy.
How long is "permanent" these days?
Have to say... Killing the character who's popularity is largely based around his Everyman personality/life/troubles/worries is... Brilliant (not serious).
Replace him with a different person who shares that aspect so we can grow to know them and... Not enjoy them as much as we do Peter.
Great. Idea... Again. -

I didn't have to check the link... Nice one and very appropriate!
Now... Zwil... Serious and important question here:
I'm not positive. Will going from Free to VIP to Premium to VIP to Premium to VIP and then back to Premium, while balancing 8 water balloons on my head change the price of tea in China? -
Hehe... silly people... Bligs are for Paabs.
Whether you use facebook or not doesn't matter one bit.
This is something they are doing with their facebook account.
As you know... you can just check it here.
All good!
They're just covering other outlets. If it reaches some people that it wouldn't reach here... that is more than it would by just being here... no?
So... bonus.
And everyone here will see it all as well.
They can even contribute, as people usually make threads for asking for questions/suggestion, etc.
Haha... stop complaining!!
Or I'll start complaining about your complaining... and then what are you gonna do??? -
He called you "but crazy"...
Add an extra t in there and... Anyway!
<.<
Great post, mate!
I'll try and do my part, when time permits!
Honestly, I have to say that the community can make such an enormous difference.
I'm not even going to say that the reason we stay is about the community...
I love this game. The actual game. I can turn it on and play a few missions solo (and have been doing that) for years and years to come.
Same for on teams...
Same for costume creations, base editing, reading bios, blah blah blah etcetera, etcetera and so on and so forth!!
However, how awesome we all are allows people to get sucked into all of that... It allows a lot more people to give it a chance and to find all of this out for themselves.
I've been around negative environments and... you just want to leave.
They could have free food, be handing out money... if there are a bunch of bastages hanging 'round... I'd want to get out of there ASAP.
The opposite is true for not so great things... If there are a bunch of friendly, well-meaning, fun and happy people... I'd probably enjoy staying!
Now...
Combine a really fun game with awesome, friendly, fun and creative people...
And we can help make this product be as popular and as big as it deserves to be (because this development team deserves a ton of great recognition for taking on challenges, for delivering complex systems in different ways and for achieving common gaming standards in very different ways in order to deliver a product more based on fun for the sake of fun and to be enjoyed by people on a casual basis... and, all the while, they've been real and fun and engaging... who doesn't want that!?!).
I'd love to see this change win big for Paragon Studios and I hope I can influence that some. And by helping Paragon Studios win big, I win too. So will you!!
That being said... General and Epic Pool Power Customization NAO or I tell all freebie players that War Witch eats babies.

Trading the name Deebs for 1,642 kinetic weapon salvage!! PST!!
That will take a long time to trade and swap and all...
I'll settle for 1,641 kinetic weapons! PST!! -
We'd need a DeLorean one as well!
Although, I'd prefer one of these:
