  1. If the set has alot of knockback, I will cry. And probably not play it.

If it has knockdown, I will be in love.

And in the video, it did look like he used a fulcrum shiftish like BU power.

It frustrates me to see level 50s running around Atlas Park beating up mobs because they can't pass up a computer program's cry for help. I have to wonder, are they really trying to "save the day" or are they just trying to show off for the noobs?

    /rant

That being said, I do like the idea of making them less "criminal" out in the open. Oddly enough, hazard zones like the Hollows and Perez Park have gangs doing just that sort of thing (mainly because there are no/few citizens to harass, but still).
    Fighting mobs outside?

Shouldn't you be doing an AE farm?

But yeah I do see your point. I often find myself slaughtering those low level mobs when I get reallllly bored. And it's just fun. (50 levels of getting beat up, and now the tables have turned.) But then I remember people use those for exp, so if I absolutely must slaughter something, I go to a zone that nobody uses anymore to do it. Like Perez Park.
  3. I agree completely.

Back when I first started playing, (Loooong time ago) it seemed that a team wouldn't even attempt to get rolling unless we had both a tank, and a empathy defender. Without those two things, most of my teams didn't want to do much.

Nowadays, I don't even really look at ATs all that much when I make a team. If they are at the right level, I'll toss them an invite. Some of the best teams I've been on were ones that you thought might never work.

It just seems that with the right players, and not so much ATs, any team can succeed.

I agree very much. I HATE leveling up a VEAT to 24. To me, it's so painful. I never feel like my character comes together until then. Granted, 24 isn't very high, but compared to kheldians that can transform at level 6, it feels like forver.
  5. I don't PvP because I don't have an IOed Psychic/EM blaster or Mind/Fire dom.

What I would like to see is the ability to have a dual archtype. You could swap between archtypes like you do builds, speaking to a trainer.

For example I have a MA/SR who I wrote up as ex-military. It would be cool to be able to use the same toon as a blaster for AR or Dual Pistols.
    No... Not gonna happen sorry.

I did actually! He still turned his nose up. He even tried to argue that CoX fails because of a no gear system. I tried to explain enhancements and IO's to him, but it just didn't go anywhere with him.

Some people just wont give the game a chance.
  9. You pretty much nailed it OP.

But gosh, Perez Park, Boomtown, and Dark Astoria bring back some memories.

Perez and Boom were the places to go for teaming. I remember roaming around with like 5 fire/dev blasters when smoke grenade was OPed. *Wipes tear* Street sweeping... Good times.

And I used to solo the mass groups of BP in Dark Astoria on my Fire/Fire blaster. That too was some good times.

Man how this game has changed...
  10. Devs: What's going on with PvP? Almost everyone I talk to hates the new system. Are you planning on changing it at all?

I use it all the time on my MM.

My pets die all the time, so I use it whenever it's up.

To be honest, I don't really know how effective the pet is, as I'm most often healing/chasing teammates. He's slotted 1acc/2dam atm, may throw more slots in eventually.

Oh, and if you click the arrow on the pet window to show the pet buffs, right click the resistance power for the ghost, and it will tell you what powers it has.
  12. I actually like this idea.

I always felt the NPCs were too "meh". I mean, my 7-foot giant with a massive boradsword and shield gets pushed aside as if I'm not important. I was always wishing they'd at least stop and take a picture or something. Just a little thing to make me feel more heroic.

I recall reading an article about CoH in a PC magazine before the game came out. The writer described how NPC's would stop and point at the character as he flew overhead. Whether or not this actually existed in alpha, I don't know. But I was disappointed when I didn't see it in game.

So I'd support the idea of paparazzi and protesters and such.

It works on the LT pets?

Someone on the MM forums had said that it will only work with the boss level pets.

    THIS! Very much this.

My cousin is a prime example. We have played LOTS off MMOs together. We were both obsessed with FFXI and WoW namely. Moreso FFXI. I had been played CoX at the same time as those, and he never understood why. We both eventually quit WoW, and then FFXI, and my cousin didn't have anything to play. (He was actually waiting for Aion to come out)

So I was like "Hey, they have a free trial for CoX, you should try it. Only takes a little bit, if you don't like it, then it's no problem"

He basically said "I don't wanna run around like a little kid fighting badguys saving the day blah blah blah. I'm a man, and I like beer and steak and running around as a superhero is for children. Muahaha."

So I couldn't even get him to play a FREE TRIAL.

But parading around as a goblin casting death ice spells from magic wands is different? I didn't get it.

I mean, I don't even play the game anymore to make me feel like a hero. It's just a naturally fun game. The elements are there for some awesome RP, but it's great as just a game itself.

Pretty much this is the best way I can describe it as well.

Even people who don't game, let alone play MMO's know about world of warcraft. It's just that popular. South park has an episode about it, there were mountain dew products about it, it has numerous commercials. THE online MMO is WoW in everyone's eyes.

If you were a n00b to online gaming, all that sinks into your head, and the first place you wander to will be what? Well WoW of course.

Think about the effect Halo had. I think it is kind of the same thing. There are awesome online FPS games out there, but Halo (Now you can argue CoD) seems to stand above them all. Why? Is it because the weapons and environments are THAT much better? Or is it just because it gets the most talk, the most hype, the biggest fanbase? I was talked into buying an xbox just because my friends hyped and talked so much Halo 2. I believe WoW has the same effect.

I've played plenty of MMO's, and while I believe CoX > WoW, CoX just doesn't get enough publicity. I think that some really good advertising could do great things for this franchise. Even people who don't normally care for the superhero genre might be interested in this game, thanks to the recent hollywood obsession with superheroes.

Could you imagine the outrage? XD
  17. I would revert I13 PvP changes.

I would add a whole lot more powers and some new AT's.

Expand the costume creator engine in oh-so-many ways.

(Did I mention I would change PvP?)

I would bring down the war walls.

It's not just a case of run up, cycle attacks; you need to control the pets and have some tactics. But when you do, boy does it pay off.

Was just trampelling Malta, and the only thing that gave me any issue was the odd Zeus Titan they threw at me, mostly due to the ungodly level of AoE's those damn things have. But they are rarer than not.
Bots/Traps is also capable, apparently, of soloing AV's, although mine isn't. That's fine by me; I don't aim for uber godmode. Regular godmode works fine for me

How would I heal. I know I cant leave it up to the pets. It seems I would be over whelmed and have to re-summon them all the time.
Actually, on my bots/traps, I don't have to re-summon too much.

The FFG plus the bubbles from my protector bots seem to do okay at keeping them alive. I also have maneuvers and the +5% defense IO for the pets.

If you use traps effectively, you can sometimes end up wiping a mob without your pets taking any damage at all. Use the seeker drones -perception and acid mortar's tanking abilities to your best. Poison trap and Caltrops do a great job at making the enemies not attack you so much.

If you wanted to try and take all the damage, but yourself in bodyguard, and grab the AoE provoke from the presence pool. Your pets will share damage with you, but they shouldn't be getting the brunt of it.

And like the above poster said, grab Aid Other if you need it.

I don't care so much about damage output more serviceability.

I know only a few pet classes can heal but I don't know them all.
The protector heals are random as I'm sure all pets are. My main problems is when it try's to melee and dies before it can heal. I use pain to overcome this problem. It would be nice at some point to re-spec to some thing that dose a little more damage since I solo most of the time.

So what pet class can tank well and heal and what would be a good build/set

Thanks for taking the time to read my post.
Actually, I could see Bots/Pain being a very good solo set.

The protector bots' heal is actually triggered when a pets' HP gets below a certain point. And if you put healing enhancements in it, then I think it alters at what percentage the heal activates at.

The only MM primaries that heal are robots (as you know), Mercs (The medic gets a very weak heal), and zombies (They get life drain, so it's acts as both)

I find the best tanking primary to actually be robots imo. The protector bots give you a nice defensive boost with the bubble, along with your pets. Pair bots up with force fields or traps or pain maybe, and you can tank pretty easily. Even /dark does well.

But honestly, I think you can pretty much solo well with every MM combo. Go with Bots or thugs if you're wanting to do more AoE, and go with Ninjas or zombies if you wanna aim more towards single target damage.

    Hope that helps!
  21. I really like the Group Queuing And group search ideas.

    Mercs

    I like Mercs.

I think the perception is that they're the weakest set to play. I don't know the exact number on this, but I'm sure someone else does.

I leveled a Merc/TA up, and you can expect ALOT of numbers. but they aren't big number, and that's probably what people don't like.

For me, trying to get up to 26 was the hardest part. The Commando is such a relief. You damage output will finally grow. And it gets better at 32. The AoE isn't too bad either, but some of the other sets overshadow it by a large margin.

There's still nothing like the sound of 6 Assault rifles going off.

You're right. It doesn't have -kb.

It still keeps them in the fire though.
  24. I didn't know /Inv did so well in PvE.

Do you need to take all the powers for it to be effective?
  25. I too had the same problem when I made my nin/poison.

The way I thought of it was literally back in the day with real ninjas and samurai. They trained naturally, and used nature for their poisons.

So I just went with natural.
