Voltaic Sentinel

One cannot target or directly buff a Voltaic Sentinel. I have some questions regarding this:

1) Can powers that indirectly buff effect VS? (i.e. Assault, Tactics)

2) Can self effecting powers buff VS? (i.e. Soulbound Allegiance: Chance for Build Up)

Any information would be much appreciated.

I believe the answer is:

1) No

2) No

2 MAY be yes, but I don't believe so. It would be kind of annoying to hit Build Up every time you cast VS. And if Build Up effected VS, then any self buff proc of the like would as well, and vice versa.

No, Voltaic Sentinel cannot be affected by any powers at all. It is both untargetable and untouchable, and it cannot even target itself, which self-affecting buffs require. The good news is it can't be debuffed either, so it will happily fire away no matter how many bad status effects are floating around the battlefield.

*Nothing* can target itself, not even players.

What he meant is that it can't even use buffs that affect the caster (I don't know if it's true but just clarifying).

So even Soulbound Allegiance: Chance for Build up proc is of no use for VS?

I suppose you're right...but then it doesn't *have* any buffs that affect the caster. It only has 1(?) ranged attack.

I'd like some confirmation on that unique tho.

Leo G: You're right - what I'd meant was that VS can't affect itself because it's basically "not there." With regard to self-targeting, I was thinking of the inability to slot Taunt sets in aura powers such as Chilling Embrace because the procs from Triumphant Insult and Perfect Zinger can affect the user as well as enemies. Chilling Embrace doesn't have a "self" component, only "target."

I doubt the Soulbound Allegiance proc would work in Voltaic Sentinel, although I'm sure you could still slot it. Also, how would that proc work in a recharge-intensive pet power that summons multiple entities, like Gang War? Does each pet get a chance to be affected once per cycle, or does the proc fire or not when the power is first used?

It also has "Resist All" and "Electrical Field". Since both of these buff the caster I think the Soulbound Allegiance proc should work.

Okay, I did not know that

So it has Electrical Field which provides several buffs: fly, +flight speed and heal resistance.

And it also has a buff that gives it several dozen mags of Untouchable...

I'm sure, during Untouchable status (like after Rise of the Phoenix), you can buff yourself (I think only the 'Only affecting self' buff stops you from using certain buffs...I dunno...)...

So...How does that BU proc work? Does it give the caster/pet a temp power?

From my Jounin's experiences with the BU proc, basically each attack has a 16.6% chance for a 10 sec build up. It'll even come with a little icon in your pet window (which you won't actually have for VS).

It works on the LT pets?

Someone on the MM forums had said that it will only work with the boss level pets.

So I've heard as well. I had it slotted into Punks/Arsonist on my Thugs MM and monitored their stats for 5 missions in a row, didn't proc even once so I got rid of it. Definitely doesn't work in minion pets, didn't bother trying with Enforcers due to lack of spare slots (I have Lady Grey and Achilles Heel procs in them)

For awhile the proc wouldn't function on pets under level 50. As a level 50 Mastermind summons Minions and Lt's at level 48 and 49 respectably--the proc wouldn't work on them. However, the proc has supposedly been fixed for awhile now.
