I suggest taking tractor at lvl 4 and haystack at lvl 6,also try and fit in sheepdog by lvl 20.

Earth/Storm is a total pig till u hit 32 and get the pooman...end of discussion.
I would rather shove burning bamboo slivers under my toenails than try n solo an earth/storm b4 lvl32,its truly that bad.
Once u hit 32 then its like winning the lottery -
It's an awesome power for soaking up dot damage in a long firefight and as previously quoted great for blocking doorways to make a retreat.
Obviously it needs slotting to make it worthwhile (5 doctored wounds IO's).
I dinged 50 on my plant/thermal troller last night and find it great.
Half the battle is knowing when to use it because it isnt much good when ppl are on 1/3 health and taking damage.
Best to try it for yourself and see what u think after a few missions. -
Tier 9 power will be Batfink : you close your wings around in a shield of steel.

What the hell is going on with this game since the last patch? Bought a new PC a couple of months ago and have a crash free existence until the new patch hit the other day.
Since then it's random crash city every day regardless of peak or off peak playing.
My PC is a dual core E8400 pentium wolfdale with 4gb ram,2 x 512mb 8800gt cards and Vista.Have run CoX in 1650 x 1080 with gfx turned up since I bought my PC.
Last few days have been depressing as hell.
Wish the Devs would post and say if it's a known problem or that they are in touch with Nvidia, etc to work on a fix. -
I would make the 36 month VET reward being able to make any new chars at lvl 20.
The reason?
Well I PERSONALLY think that after paying for the game for 3 yrs you should be able to bypass the grind that is 1-20.
Why do you think people go nuts on double xp weekends trying to lvl chars past 20.
Because we all hate the 12-20 trudge where you get your travel power and the fitness pool.
Anyways perhaps we can see a faster lvling curve from 1-20 in the future -
Take all traps powers except detonator as soon as they become available.Triage Beacon is great for soaking up dots like longbow flame attacks, tsoo caltrops, etc.
I hit 41 earlier today and took Black Scorp's shield, with 3 sets of blood mandate slotted in my 3 pets (6 slots each) and with the shield gen,my shield and maneuvers running I have 40%+ def to all attacks.I can easily solo EB's spawned for 5 man mish (aint got round to an AV yet).
I also have a 50 AR/Traps corruptor and a 41 necro/traps,I have never subscribed to the aid self/aid other argument because seekers can take the alpha 95% of the time leaving u to drop poison trap, etc in safety.
Also BG mode helps loads as well
Enjoy Bots/Traps cos it gets better and better as u lvl -

Funny, everyone else managed to work it out, and i think i mentioned it somewhere, <removed>

I'm just looking out for the new people who may see your post and think it's a "beginers" build when it is clearly not.
At least edit it and state that it is a farm build that needs a lot of inf to make.
<removed> -
[ QUOTE ]
This is a farming build drednaught, just get off my posts <removed>
[/ QUOTE ]
In that case pls explain why the word "farm" does not appear anywhere in your original post.
Are we all expected to be mind readers now?
All my chars are magic origin but hey it's only make believe you understand. -
[ QUOTE ]
i've never seen someone farm with hover :S might aswell just get CJ
[/ QUOTE ]
You ask for constructive input and then just disagree with everything that differs from your idea of a build.
There is no "I WIN" in this game,if you want that go play a normal PC game and use cheat codes.
Not everyone farms, most ppl play for fun !!!!
A multiplayer game and you are doing 6 man solo spawns lmfao
<removed> -
Anyone get the feeling he read about the powers on the enhancement screen whilst he was being power lvled to 50?
1 damage in the hold????
Also his fire/kin build has classic "FARMER" written all over it,obviously if he fought more bosses he would slot out his hold, siphon power, etc.
Explains how he got all his recipes too.
My advice is to actually "PLAY" a char to lvl 50 by actually teaming, trying content, doing TF,fighting AV,etc and then come back and write a few guides.
Until then wait for the PHARM forum to appear on here.
PS This post is directed to the original poster -
This is my current build for my illusion/radiation controller,it has cost me a lot of inf and the downtime on my Phantoms is 2-3 seconds,it's a monster either solo or teamed,I can solo AV's and tank GM's.With AM,Assault and the recipe bonuses I have +50% damage too.
It'a definitely my all time fav char and everyone should have one in their collection

Ill/Rad troller or Earth/Storm troller are my favs, both awesome fun to lvl although Ill/Rad is more friendly in the earlier lvls.
Earth/Storm is very hard to solo prior to 32 and your pooman pet, after that it's damage city with tornado and lightning storm.
My 50 Ill/Rad is my fav though, got phantom army down to 5 secs recharge nowonly another 200mill to perma lol
-
Lvl 39 Earth/Storm here, even after I got the Pooman at 32 I still found soloing to be very very slow.
Tornado helps a lot but you need to have stone cages in your build to maximise the damage aspect.
Lightning Storm seems to up the damage quite a bit.
I personally made my Earth/Storm 99% purely as a teaming debuff monster (which it is) but boy have I hated the 1% soloing lol.
Now Ill/Rad boy that is a solo class -

And that's the main problem. Most people who play corruptors prefer teaming (as there are villain ATs who are more cut out for soloing) and unless a team is in real trouble or facing AVs it is moving too fast for traps to have a major impact, especially when you compare it to other secondary powersets.
[/ QUOTE ]
With superspeed/stealth or superspeed/+stealth IO why wait for team to lay traps, you are the one running in and dropping poison trap, etc ahead of the brute
Easy to lay mines while mobs are puking or seekers have taken alpha,u gotta think outside the box sometimes
[/ QUOTE ]
Sure, that's a possibility, but when I am talking about fast teams I am talking about teams that defeat spawns just as fast as you could lay some traps in the next spawn and probably even faster when we are talking about spawns already softened up by some traps. So, this only means that you switch from "can only really use primary set" to "can only really use secondary set" which is not what I would call an improvement, especially when compared to toons that can actually use both powersets efficiently at the same time.
On top of that some traps won't be very helpful at all, e.g. the Acid Mortal will probably spend most of his lifetime sitting in the middle of nothing since everything around is already defeated and the FFG will mainly be a device for measuring the team's progress ("If the bubble reaches us we are too slow.") unless you can persuade the kinetic to SB it. And don't even get me started about Triage Beacon...
In the case of traps "outside the box" means that you can find ways to use some of your traps sometimes, but only at the expense of not fighting alongside the team (except under special circumstances like for example the first spawn on the map).
[/ QUOTE ]
As long as you are having fun and enjoying playing the game who gives a rats [censored] if you are using your primary or secondary or both.I play this game to have fun not the oober best min/max flav of the month best % damage per mob ratio toon ever.
If people want that then head on over to WoW and grind to 70 then do 100+ instances for that precious +10 club of doom!!!
This game has sooo much choice that it can accomodate many playstyles, chars, themed chars, etc.
There is no best primary for any secondary in this game, they all have strengths and weaknesses.
Just make a char and if it is fun stick with it till it isnt fun anymore, then make another
Never be afraid to be different.............. -

Sonic buffs cannot be casted on yourself.
However trap cors do get stun protection that they can cast on themselves. But then again traps are bit snore.
[/ QUOTE ]
Erm... sonic dispersion is a nice PBAoE bubble, even better then the FFG from traps imo.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sonic dispersion is a toggle which can be dropped by attacks,FFG is not so it gives protection even if you are held, etc. -

I've found the Seekers are pretty pants in PvE to be honest, they're really not worth the big chunk of endurance to cast them. I recently respecced them out on my Bots/Traps and haven't missed them at all. FFG and Poison Trap are indispensible to a /traps, Acid Mortar is a bit naff for normal fights but can really help with tougher Bosses or EBs.
[/ QUOTE ]
Acid mortar takes ranged IOs which means lots of goodies
The mortar on my traps corruptor has 20% chance to hold,10% chance to heal 5% hp and a 5% chance of build up.
These go off every 10 secs and the mortar lasts 60 secs, see where I am going with this
My mortar held the AV tree in the respec TF,was awesome seeing a disco electric bubble around it
With regard to other traps powers for MM's only one I aint keen on is detonator, all others are awesome including seekers which are unreal for taking an alpha strike, pulling mobs, etc -
Take energy if you want the best looking nuke
If you are mainly soloing try ice or fire.
If you are going to team go for the king of AoE's....Assault Rifle
Oh and in reply to the poster who said energy is the worst match for kinetics because of the knockback....take hover and fire down from above turning knockback into knockdown
or line mobs up with corners, boxes, etc to keep em pinned down. -
Hello there
I have a lvl 50 AR/Traps which is quite pimped out with IOs (Viper Force).
Off the top of my head build is as follows :-
Burst 4 slots
Beanbag 5 slots
Flamethrower 6 slots
Ignite 5 slots
Full Auto 6 slots
Webnade 2 slots
Caltrops 1 slot
Triage Beacon 6 slots
Acid Mortar 6 slots
FF Generator 5 slots
Poison Trap 3 slots
Seeker Drones 5 slots
Trip Mine 6 slots
Also Snipe 5 slotted
My pool powers are Flight,Speed,Fitness and Teleport consisting of hover, fly, hasten, superspeed, hurdle, health, stamina and recall friend.
Now obviously this build is slotted for maximum gain from recipe sets, etc and also IO procs like build up,etc.
So I would suggest starting off by taking burst, slug and buckshot to get u through the early lvls then respeccing em out later.Leave the grenade and time bomb alone as well, grenade causes too much aggro and time bomb is the suckiest power around.
Make sure to take 2 fitness power before lvl 18 so u can get flamethrower as soon as its available, also webnade + ignite kills bosses very very fast, well any mob really
Feel free to skip beacon and go the aid other/aid self route although I never solo so beacon helps all team members at once
Poison gas IS as good as ppl make out and acid mortar makes a nice lil personal tank as well as debuffing anything with a pulse, mine has +20%to hold,10% chance to heal 5% hp and 5% chance of build up IOs slotted in it.
It has held the AV tree in the respec TF as well
You may feel a lil underpowered in the early stages of AR/Traps but stick with it and u will experience one of THE most fun builds I have ever played in CoX
This is our lil secret k
ps seekers are awesome for taking alpha strike as well
pps I also have the +stealth run IO slotted so that I am invisible when I run in to drop poison gas, etc.
This may not be an option for you for a long time unless u got a high lvl char to feed u inf or u get lucky and get the recipe as a drop (might be TF only). -
Assault Rifle/Traps would be an awesome partner to your necro/dark MM.
Send in ur pets to attack and ur friend follows em in to drop poison trap, then u drop tar patch and ur friend applies full auto and flamethrower while the acid mortar tanks for u.
Better still have the seekers take the alpha for ur pets -
That's right, generic villain 666 hit the big lvl 5 this morning woot,gj big fella, now head down and full steam ahead for that HUGE!!!! lvl 6 and another power.....woohoo..go go go
-
Take all the traps powers except time bomb, with AR I didn't take burst, beanbag or the grenade.
Currently at lvl 40 and pretty much an AoE monster
Oh and if you dont take the poison gas bomb then you may as well delete your char
