Kinetics is a brilliant set but where it lacks compared to other secondaries is in forms of damage mitigation.
This doesn't matter much in teams but if you want to solo, you'll do best with a primary blasting set that provides some mitigation.
Ice Blast and Dark Blast offer the best protection, and of those two, Ice causes more damage (since it has Aim). An Ice/Kin would be your best bet for solo.
Like I said, teaming this won't become so apparent. In that case, Ice, Rad and Sonic all synergise very well with Kinetics. AR and Energy blast are probably the worst compliments to the set (Energy for its excessive KB, AR for its weapon redraw).

For PvE, you can't get any more fun than a Fire/Kin Corruptor charging at full tilt through an 8-man map - but you may well be tearing your hair out in frustration with your lack of endurance before level 35 (although it shouldn't be quite so bad now you can use IOs). As far as soloing goes, as long as you have a supply of break-frees (and I'd consider taking some kind of KB mitigation, either in IOs, Acro, or Hover), you shouldn't have any real problems - "damage-mitigation" is for people who can't kill things quickly enough. 
edit: my Fire/Kin was far easier to solo than my Ice/Kin, if only for the fact that Scourge + DoT makes bosses that much squishier. <3 Blaze.

Sonic offers some mitigation as well with it's cone sleep and a very nice stun. The -res would be nice for upping your damage even more. I haven't tried it but I should imagine a sonic/kin would work well.

True, forgot about that. Sonic can stack stuns with its nova, too. Ice or Sonic would be best for soloing, then! 
And to elaborate on my earlier point. Mob aggro you can deal with, you can learn to love. But soloing Bosses and EBs with Rad Blast is difficult. Your singular stun has no effect on its own, your KB power is sooooo slow that you can't use it for sustained soft control, your secondary effects offer you no help.
I have a Rad/Kin Corr, and while it's possible to muddle through some boss fights using dirty handed things (like Repel), in St Martial you'll find some horrendously difficult boss types. Wailer Kings neutralise your stun power entirely, and I don't need to tell you how mean Carnie bosses can be.
I do enjoy using my Corr but a powerset like Ice or Sonic would have made my life much easier.
One more vote for sonic/kin. My sonic/kin corruptor is one of my favourite toons, very soloable, great in teams, especially against EBs/AVs, and a scrapper hunter par excellence.

Even at the damage cap, you're nowhere near being able to kill a boss with a nuke.
Inferno will do the most damage out of the nukes (more than Nova with the DoT) and KB doesn'treally mesh that well with Kinetics overall. I'd definitely put Energy as the worst match for Kin.

I mean I don't have to worry about killing bosses in 3 Blazes or less - with all the minions and lieutenants dead within seconds and no excess incoming damage coming in as a result, it's stupidly easy to kite/debuff (with Siphon Speed and Transference) bosses until they fall over.

Well, it really depends on the circumstances - like the number of enemies and their damage resistances - but when you compare nukes you will usually see Dreadfull Wail, Inferno or Blizzard on top.

Take energy if you want the best looking nuke 
If you are mainly soloing try ice or fire.
If you are going to team go for the king of AoE's....Assault Rifle
Oh and in reply to the poster who said energy is the worst match for kinetics because of the knockback....take hover and fire down from above turning knockback into knockdown
or line mobs up with corners,boxes,etc to keep em pinned down.
Fulcrum + blizzard is great, the DoT is nice with scourge and can kill a freak mob twice as they res

Indeed. If you use your attacks like this you could even be useful to your team instead of a constant debuff.
Of course, unless you are totally bent on energy blast (Personally, I don't even like the look of it.) you could also just take a different powerset if this sounds like too much work.
However, I have to say that if I for whatever reason end up in a team with an Energy Blast corruptor I am happy if he is a kinetic and uses siphon speeded Hover for above-mentioned playstyle. Other secondary powersets tend to make me cry when paired with energy blast, especially dark and rad. (Self-debuff FTW! )
And just because I saw someone mention it before: Please don't pair kinetics with AR! If there is one thing you don't want as a halfway decent kinetic player it's long animation times and AR's animations seem to last hours when you are high on kinetic speed.

I was thinking of making a /Kin Corrupter and wondering if any of the Primaries are particularly good with it?
At this stage I am leaning towards AR or Rad, but open to suggestions
