Wow. . never realized I had such a great idea goin'. .
How about scratch the whole lore / canon aspect and just come up with any kind of rationalization. . serious, humorous, bizarre, whatever. . -
I needed a particular piece of common salvage, had AE tickets with which to turn in for said piece of common salvage, yet did not at the time know which level range to select from as tickets for common salvage are completely random nor could I find a simple "need this ? click here" list. .
As a result, I present this Guide for Cashing In AE Tickets vs. Common Arcane and Tech Salvage Level Ranges ;
The list is presented in the format of all salvage listed alphabetically with which tier / category it falls under. .

Awesome ( happy dance ) ! An update with progress !. . that still didn't fix the problem. . ( un-happy dance )
Lack of victory in the Filter War aside for the moment, praise and thanks and compliments to Dr. A and team for listening to our grief, trying various fixes, and now finally fixing ( some / most of ) the problem.
We are, however, still a great distance away from ultimate victory in the Filter War. In my particular case, my arc 22079 ; Best New MMO Of The Year : "Heroes of Paragon City" IS now playable because of the Paragon fix in the filter.. It is NOT, however, re-publishable/editable because the custom villain group Victory In-TECH has the word / name Victor in it. . Hence, it looks like the latest ( major ) fix just added in those common references as acceptable without telling the filter to actually stop looking at just parts of words..
I am still quite pleased, though, at the simple fact that I have playable arcs now. The fact that I can't edit them I can deal with since editing others not afflicted with Paragon-itis has left me quite weary for the time being. I empathize completely, though, with anyone still even un-playable after this latest go-round. We should at least take some assurance that recent events would tend to indicate we may yet see Victory ! or rather (censored)y ! -

I never typically have anything going, our house is noisy enough as it is, so I usually have the game turned down and play in luxuriating silence whenever possible.. barring that, if in fact I require background music, I have found that the Tron : Legacy soundtrack is an absolutely awesome addition to game play ! Then when that's done ( 22 songs later ) if I still need more, I just let the iPod take over..

Still encountering problems with 'Paragon' and 'Longbow' though.. -
How many weeks has this been broken now..? In seven years I do not know that I have ever been as disappointed in this game as I am over this..

Mayhap we need to amend a new entry regarding how many of the 375,000+ Player Created Missions ARE BROKEN..
Anyway, after much chagrin and resignation, I have repaired a number of mine that had become broken after this. I still, however, refuse to repair/rename any of the ones broken as a result of "Paragon" where Paragon City is an intrinsic and integral part of the arc..
I also compiled my list of words I encountered which I had to adjust/rename ;

The Manipulator
Nightmares
Abyssmal
Abomination Purist
Author
Shiva
Paragon
Longbow
All in all, it's not a lot of words. It was, however, an effort beyond measure to scour every entry in every arc to pin down the 'invalid' entries. It was also an affront to have to do this at all for words which should not be inviolate in the first place..
On a positive note, although it may have waivered over this, I do still have faith in our entire Paragon Studios Team and remain hopeful that a resolution is in progress and we may resume playing/publishing without fear of overzealous filters very soon. -
Just sayin'..
Anyway, as a forum game, setting aside marketing and game mechanics and such, come up with a lore / canon based explanation as to why Vanguard would reward a Loyalist with an MVAS.. Best explanation wins. -

The Mission Architect editor has probably flagged the entire reward set as copyright/profanity error and is holding them in digital limbo..

Here's another example for the ever expanding list.. Apparently names within names are having an effect. For instance, I have a villain named "The Manipulator" who has become invalid because his name contains the name of a particularly strong Man who transforms with a sword because He has the power.. Heaven forbid I actually use the name here.. Wouldn't want to get : Error: This post contains profane or copyrighted text..
There is of course also any noun, verb or adjective that is now invalid if it is any way shape or form related to any character anywhere.. Again, for instance, you can not use abyssmal, or have anything be a scientific abomination, or specify an author..
"Overzealous" as Z said wins understatement of the year I think.. -

There is a viable workaround to the sorting issue. Yuo can tell the game how to position your characters by creating a file named "playerslot.txt" within your CoH program files under the folder for the account you want to utilize.

ok, for example..
Say my account ( to log into the game ) is called "primaryaccount" and I have characters named "Tanker Toon" and "Defender Toon" ( my apologies if anyone actually has toons named that.. ) on Champion and "Brute Toon" and "Stalker Toon" on Guardian.
Within your CoH program files will be a folder named "primaryaccount"
Within that folder ( also where your chat logs transcripts are located btw ) you can create a file named "playerslot.txt"
The format of this file ( just a regular text file using Notepad ) would be :
"account name" "server" "toon name" "slot position"
so the file would look like this :
"primaryaccount" "Champion" "Tanker Toon" "00"
"primaryaccount" "Champion" "Defender Toon" "11"
"primaryaccount" "Guardian" "Brute Toon" "05"
"primaryaccount" "Guardian" "Stalker Toon" "06"
By doing this you can specify exactly how you want your characters to be presented. For the above example then, when I log into Champion i would be presented with "Tanker Toon" at the top and "Defender Toon" at the bottom ( since the character slots run 00 to 11 then 12 to 23 then 24 to 35 ) and when I log into Guardian I would be presented with those toons in the 6th and 7th slots.
This file is pc specific so if, as one person said, you use mulitple pc's to play on you would have to create a file on each of those pc's. Also, since this does not affect any of these : (a) sublicense, rent, lease, loan or otherwise transfer the Software or the Service (or any part thereof), including without limitation serial codes; (b) modify, adapt, reverse engineer or decompile the Software, or otherwise attempt to derive source code from the Software; (c) create any derivative works in respect of the Software or the Service; or (d) otherwise use the Software or the Service except as expressly provided in this Agreement I do not believe it violates any aspects of the EULA thus making it a viable alternative.

Before offering this idea, let me acknowledge that I understand the concept behind 'secret entrances'.. That being said, it isn't much of a secret to see masses of Heroes/Villains gathering on a grassy knoll and disappearing.. Can't possibly be a base entrance there.. Nope. Secret Bases ? Not really a secret.. Secret entrances to those secret bases ? Also, not much of a secret there..
Hence, what if Portal Corp. teamed with the Transit system or even a subsidiary of Portal Corp. or possibly a less established rival of Portal Corp., whatever, and set-up a facility with an established portal to provide access to Bases for Super Groups ? Similiar to the Vanguard set-up to get to the RWZ. Have a building which houses a portal(s) run by whomever, that would 'port you to your base or whichever base you have access to. Thing is, they could also provide egress rather than appearing out of nowhere in the middle of nowhere.
Granted, the entire concept is aesthetic, there is no real functionality or aspect change, just an idea.. -
It occurred to me while travelling through Steel, as I watched a myriad of poor hapless citizens not walking, not running, but 'sliding' around.. that I would be more than happy with an issue devoted not to new content or shinyness but instead devoted to tweaking all of the little inherent QOL bugs/glitches/issues. Such as the aforementioned roller-skating citizens, or my window opacity resetting itself every time I zone, or being unable to utilize the 'globe' symbol for base design.. Just the little things.
If in fact this wasn't substantial enough, there could be new content as well to go along with the theme and maybe expand SG emblems, or street signs on the corners, or an idea that might perhaps stand by itself ; Coalition Beacons. I shall elaborate should the concept not be self-explanatory.
The concept behind Coalition Beacons would be having the ability to use a base teleporter to beam to a Coalition Base without having to exit your base and re-enter the portal selecting the Coalition Base you want to go to. Granted, not a huge endeavor, but as the main theme here is 'little things' I think it fits. Obviously, should you or your Coalie break the Coalition, the Beacon becomes inactive. Nevertheless, I thought it might be kewl. -
