Ditto. I usually just buy the Super Boosters because I know it supports and pays for other content put into the game... but I can't bring myself to do it on this one. The entire thing is fantastically sub-par and not nearly worth the price.

The only way that we defeated her was by mass inspirations eventually.

Night Widows are awful at low levels. I was running a team today doing 21 missions at +2. The first two missions were fine and then we pulled an Arachnos mission and we ground to a halt. We never team wiped, but are nice, steam-rolling speed was slowed to a crawl.

The problem, as I see it, is that a lot of the Arachnos deal exotic damage (re: PSI) AND have some really nasty secondary effects added onto their attacks (- rech, - to hit, blindness, et all).

Before SOs this becomes utterly horrible to wade through.

1.) The -def on Rage should not effect you.
2.) Rage and Fury is a lot of damage going out there for long time.
3.) Nothing says "I am going to stomp the ground and you will like it!!!" better than Foot Stomp with Rage and Fury.

Now I haven't even looked at Invuln on mids but if their is some defense powers then Super Strength may not work for you. Me personally, I hate the rage crash. I have an Ice Armor/ Super Strength (it's built bad) and the rage crash drops me below soft capped defenses and I get wrecked. So I go with Super Strength.
/Inv is a mixed bag of resistance and defense.

Claws is really nice, I loved the combo on a scrapper. SS works well too as footstomp meshes nicely with Inv's taunt aura.
  7. I've got a lowbe DM/Inv scrapper (16) that I'm at the end of my rope with. I just picked up Unyielding and I had hoped to see some increase in survivability but none was to be found.

Has anyone played this to high levels, does it ever mature and get decent? I'm okay sticking something out if there's a light at the end of the tunnel, but if there isn't...

I really like the character concept, but I'm seriously considering remaking into Shield/EM, Fire/WP, or Shield/SS...

    Lets Talk /ELA

Typed defense is slightly easier for your case because positional defense always needs 6 slots (you're running out of slots obviously), and you have high energy resistance so you may even skip e/ne defense if you like.

If you're not fighting something that drop you quickly, then high recharge to cycle energise faster will work. You might as well take hasten and your slotting can nearly make it perma. I think it's a very expensive build with purples and pvp IOs. Depending on what you fight, energise is probably not cycling fast enough sometimes.
Obviously go for S/L defense first, but I don't know if I'd skip the N/E defense over f/c. F/c often has a smashing or lethal component to it... and an ELA's Neg Energy resistance is so damn low that you really feel it when you get hit by it.

A couple CoT ghosts can destroy Miserya (EM/ELA) in a handful of hits, I fold like a wet-paper towel.

I dunno. Energy Aura is so easy to soft-cap now that with the end management and the fact that it's really rather easy to fit in Aid Self... it's kind of a decent set these days.

    Electric Armour

See, she's EM. And that was fine when EM was OMG unbalanced because she killed EVERYTHING so damn fast that I didn't need a great deal of mitigation, that and the mag 4 on TF kept most really tough bosses stumbling around and not hitting me.

The changes to EM sort of killed her, her offense slowed down and ELA wasn't even hardly sturdy enough to pick up the slack.

I have a very old EM/ELA brute. Did the recent buff do anything to help ELA or does it still need a mitigation heavy primary to keep it moving?
  12. Early on Follow-Up + Spin and repeat will save you many trips to the hospital. Once you get your defenses in place around level 28 killing ridiculously fast becomes less important, but it's still nice.

  15. I have at least one alt and one character yet to be made (KinM/Something) that would also like to get in on something like this. Sha-zah!
  16. ((Wrote a bit more. Again, it's very brief, it's just my attempt at trying to keep track of my ideas. Battle Brand is currently level 11 and camped in the Hollows. It's been a smooth leveling journey and I'm thinking BS/Shield is a combo I'm going to try and take to 50.))

This new world was strange. Aud did not particularly care for it, truth be told, in fact she was scared witless, not that she’d let these strange, foreign wizards and monsters see that. She would keep her little hill safe, that’s all that mattered. It was high ground and easily defensible and the piked heads of several of those hideous green skinned troll-like creatures stood as a warning to the rest of their horrific kind.

The creatures piqued her curiosity, however, as they vaguely resembled the trolls from her time, the large, lanky beasts that often lived in caves and under bridges or off in the high wild country where few ventured. Except these things were neither large nor were they lanky, it was as if the trolls had begun breeding with man and these were the result.

There were mortals like herself here as well, though they used odd weapons that spit fire and hot iron; small things that could destroy a man’s inside. She had been clipped twice previous, the ragged bandage wrapped securely around her upper thigh and the bloody gash on her cheek serving as a constant reminder of the strange weapon’s potency. And yet some of the mortals seemed to be blessed or touched by the sidhe themselves, wielding pure fire, cold, and lightning from their hands and eyes. These creatures terrified Aud the most, even more than the circle of iron and crystal castles that pierced the heavens themselves around her little patch of woodland, for blessed as her shield was by Andarta, goddess of war, it was barely enough to keep the raw elements themselves at bay from her exposed flesh.

She remembered little of the events that brought here to this place. There was a struggle a flash of magic and then nothing and even that memory was vague. It was raining outside now, her shelter doing a poor job of shielding Aud from the water, and even curled up as she was, the savage was having a hard time keeping her small, sputtering fire lit. With legs hugged to her chest, the warrioress lowered her head to her knees, closed her eyes, and dreamt of home in the soft orange glow of the fire.
  17. You should have. Jump Kick is not strong, but it is pretty. It's the perfect EA compliment!
  18. One thing I've noticed is that concepts have started to get more and more specific in who the groups are looking for. I remember all the best (most fun) groups I've been in are those that take all different types/origins/styles of characters (can't remember the heroside group, The Serial Killers was the redside group).
  19. (( This isn't much, but I'm coming back to both the game and roleplaying after a very long hiatus and I thought I'd get getting involved in the bigger picture a try. ))

<Cut to news anchor’s sitting behind a large, official desk with the rather shittastic artistic rendering of Paragon City behind them. There is, of course, a grey-haired male and a young, attractive woman behind the desk. The program appears to be in mid-broadcast>

Female Anchor, fake smile: And the Poodle was indeed a very “mighty dog.” Haaah. Back to you, Francis.

Male Anchor, Francis, looking bored: What a wonderful story, Miranda.

<Shuffles papers, instantly looks far more serious>

    Francis:
In other news, reports have been coming in of even stranger than usual activity in The Hollows. Eye-witnesses have stated that they’ve seen a crazy-eyed, blonde-haired woman of medium height and muscular build brandishing what appeared to be crude sword and spiked shield rampaging back and forth through Cherry Hills Park. Local Troll Taskforce Officials are unsure what to make of these reports as many of the eye-witnesses are also proving to be on several hallucinogenic drugs, or are simply, to quote an anonymous taskforce member, “Batshit crazy.”

Officer David Wincott assures the citizens of The Hollows that they have nothing to fear by this new menace as she only appears to be hunting and brutally dismembering members of the local gang known as The Trolls. Officer Wincott added that while this new threat has not proved a concern to the local, and sparsely remaining, citizenry the daily earth-quakes, floods, kidnappings, gang-warfare, and frequent falling debris should still be watched out for.

Now back to Miranda with a fascinating look at the day to day life of a cat-girl.

<The channel is changed by the store-clerk.>
  20. Long time player recently returned to the game. I've decided I wanted to take a spoiled brute who is the illegitimate child of one or two moderately well known heroes. So I'm making up a hero for parent and it hits me that it might be fun to see if anyone wants an estranged seventeen year old daughter who will make life difficult.

    SS/???

    This.

SS is really hard on the blue bar and WP fixes that plus adds a ton of survivabilty without a huge investment.

On the other hand, with IOs, /Inv can easily reach the soft-cap, you can add more HP, you can add a ton of rech to make DP perma... and then it seems like it would really start to shine. However... that's one insanely expensive build to do that.
  22. Very possible. Divine Avalanche helps a great deal in that regard. A lot of posters say that even getting up to around 20-30% with a resistance set offers a noticable difference in survival. And with the PvP enhancements and the other set bonuses, combat jumping, weave, Shadow Dweller, et all, you should be able to at least hit 20%.
  23. Inv/SS gets better in the low 20s. My tanker (stuck at 24, I just haven't been in the mood) was EZ-mode on a team. Sure, she did piss damage but you don't do damage as a tanker.

You taunt and hit the things you need hitting you. I found the experience gets rather dull after a while, but...
  24. Everytime this post gets bumped an angel gets its wings.
