It depends on how you play, as you said. If you want to go for defense and fight against various types of mobs, I would raise the defense to above 30%, and then take darkest night (you need to slot power sink properly for such setup). Typed defense is slightly easier for your case because positional defense always needs 6 slots (you're running out of slots obviously), and you have high energy resistance so you may even skip e/ne defense if you like.

A couple CoT ghosts can destroy Miserya (EM/ELA) in a handful of hits, I fold like a wet-paper towel.

My Claws/ELA focuses on Resistance and Regeneration first, but it has a bit of defense thrown in. He isn't the toughest Brute around, but he does alright. I would focus on the more common damage types, and maybe grab some Toxic Defense/Resistance if that's possible. Toxic Damage is my /Ela's bane.

I won't analyze your build because you didn't post the data chunk (and the formatting is all messed up), but I have a DB/Elec planned (lvl 24 atm) - she's a scrapper but numbers are basically the same for resists and all, although the power order is a bit different for scrappers (basically they switched Energize with LReflexes).
35% melee def with 30% s/l (which helps against lots of ranged, and my energy res is capped anyway since DOs lol) and 20% ranged / nrg / neg defenses. Plus 67.5% recharge.
I had to gut regeneration for that, but I'm happy with all the extra maxhp I managed to get:

To avoid double posting I wanted to edit and add this. I mulled over it a bit and tried to stick to some cheaper recipes except for the purples and PVP IO's..... I know they will be quite expensive. Anyhow, is this looking better or worse so far. I like it cause all the typed defenses are at about 30 minus PSI but I can deal with that. That and with Darkest Night should add to the survivability I would think. I am not deluding that I am better then a tank, I wanna smash with my brute but since fury really takes care of that I can focus on surviving more things. Anyway, again... please discuss:

I had some questions on /ELA and was looking to the fellow forum goers for some advice.
I'm running a DB/ELA and Im really enjoing it. However, I was looking at my stats in the higher levels and began to wonder what would be best to work for. Optimally I want to get energize up as often as possible because its awesome . So far the build I have has about 61% to S/L Res and easily capped Energy Res. The rest are somewhere around 50% including Psi. The only one that seems low is my Negative and the obvious toxic with Negative being 35~36%. I was curious, would it be worth it to go for 20% positional defense to help with survivability? I know that it comes down to how you play and I plan to play my brute quite a bit (especially with going rouge ) but statistically I want to get him and shined up as possible.
