  1. But being fully SO'ed isn't really 'basic gear', some SOs and the rest DOs will do fine for the most part.

I believe a few variations on the VEATS (making a Arachnos AT that could pick powers from different divisions within Arachnos) was suggested before we got VEATS. And this is a suggestion forum, so anything is possible.

I've also thought about making a straight up AT with a mishmash of Defensive and Support in the primary and Assault as a secondary. But that would take as much, or even more, time than it did making this thing.

There were ideas in my head. I wanted to get them out. So I mashed them all together and made this.
Fair enough and I can appreciate the work you put into it, its very detailed.

If you want a Melee+Support AT, go ahead and design it yourself. I was more interested in designing this, and it comes off as a bit rude to say that I ought to have put my creative efforts towards something that you yourself would find more appealing.
No rudeness was meant, it was just an honest response to the design proposal you put forward. I wasn't suggesting that you do anything else, just that if the devs were the ones doing this, that is the sort of feedback I'd expect someone to give in a design meeting i.e. 'Why are we sticking all this into one new EAT when for roughly the same work we could get out a whole bunch of new powersets? And with a bit more extra work we could get out an entirely new AT that we don't have to write specific game content for'. (add Black Pebble chimming in with "and we could sell them!" at the end of each of those)

However, if its got to be an EAT then we need something for the 'Epic' part, namely some storyline hook to explain the powers. We want it magic based so I'd guess Bat'Zul is the obvious choice. Maybe name it something like Harbringer of Bat'Zul, where you are descended from a bloodline connected to the demon and you have a series of 1-50 missions to either free him, steal his power or defeat him. (maybe with some moral choices along the way)

Alternatively, maybe link the story to the various dimensions that the Infernals come from? That could work.

Or, something to do with the Hellions perhaps?
  3. I'd question the purpose of making this an EAT. There no storyline for it to follow and it seems to be restricting a potential melee/(de)buff AT into one concept, which seems a bit of a waste.

Having Hellfire Assault for Doms, maybe some other hellfire based sets (Hellfire control? Hellfire manipulation?) and maybe a Hellfire Anciliary pool would spread the hellfire love around in a less restrictive way.

Then make a proper melee/(de)buff AT with hellfire being one flavour of its powersets.

I think on the last stream that they would be talking about the new tier 9 rewards at the player summit.

Just to point out, them selling out of the arbitrary number of codes they decided to print off doesn't really mean much

I didn't buy any, not worth the price for me. But I did buy 3 hero/3 villain pint glasses, some which still survive to this day!

From this site, The subscription rate should be about $18 to have the same value as in 2004.

Note, I am not saying that we do get less for our money, just pointing out why we should get less for our money. the fact we don't is great :-)
  7. Inflation. The sub price hasn't changed in over 7 years, $15 doesn't buy as much as it used to.

I mean, they try to twist and corrupt a lot of stuff throughout history, and seem to be bent on destruction.

I almost wonder if it has to do more with the Shivans, since we know very little about their actual motives. "Silence breaks by the gods thunder" also doesn't seem to have much to do with the Kheldians, but maybe I'm wrong there. Seems to me to predict more about the meteors crashing to earth.
Thinking about it, alot of it could even be about The Rikti.
  10. The "Iron turns into crystal" might refer to the Shivan meteroites, which would fit in with the doomsday bit.

Thats actually kinda a bad example, a lot of Spidey stories have played on the fact that a lot of people mistrust him (Mainly due to the daily bugle, who have at times labled him a mutant).
Even other Supers weren't sure about him (Mangento tried to recruit him a couple of times, The Fantasic Four thought he was a mutant when they first met etc...).

Another aspect is that alot of the heroes that people know of as mutants seem to spend an awful lot of the time fighting other mutants. There are very few who are seen to patrol for muggers or fight nazis or Space monsters or whatever.

From what I gather, the best explanation of the fear of mutants is that they just happen. The Fantastic Four flew into space, so its fine for them to get weird powers. Same with Ironman or Thor. But the fact that that little kid down the street could one day just suddenly start shooting out laser beams and melting a bus full of nuns for no reason(Try writing the headline for that one!). In particular, the fact that your own kids (or their school friends) could at any minute turn into monsters/freaks can be seen as pretty scary.

  16. They seem to have messed with the story far too much, even getting the most basic things completely wrong.

I mean, not even one the main characters seem to be dogs!

    CoH on RPS

The 95% month on month retention rate is pretty darn impressive.
  18. I'd assume that this is a 'costume power' rather than a 'costume set', like previous convention giveaways?

Also, Snakes, why did it have to be snakes?
  21. There is also the fact that Melee/Defence sets are more universal, being used by 4 ATs. Ranged and (De)Buff are used by 3, Control is only used by 2. Then you get down to the specialist sets: Assault, Manipulation and Henchmen. Henchmen has it the worst since they take the most time to develop and only get use for 1 AT (which isn't even free to play)

I'm sure that all has some influence on the choices for premium powersets, since they are going to want to make something that will sell the best. Would an 800 point Assault set sell as well as an 800 point Melee set?

Therefore, I think its most likely that we will see the more specialist sets as part of Issue releases (alongside proliferation). Not to say that there won't be premium sets for them, of course.
  22. Best thing would be for an invisible head, so that we could have floating hats, glasses etc..

    You must die!

Even if you were the cause, why would you need to die? Time Travel is possible, so worse case scenario you go with the Traveller back to the future. You are no longer around in present day to cause whatever and you arrive in a cool future.
