(The following article and articles of similar tone would be found in newspapers throughout the Rogue Isles, specifically Sharkhead, on 20th January 2008)
Chaos Reigns!
In the early hours of the morning, the peaceful docks of Sharkhead became a warzone as two vicious superpowered criminals duked it out on the deck of an Arachnos frigate.
Lord Darvek and Iron Alligator were engaged in a vicious battle which lasted around two hours and resulted in Longbow forces arriving at the scene and being dealt with by the two criminals, who then resumed their battle. The carnage destroyed the frigate entirely although use of conventional plastic explosive is suspected, as one of the combatants has a reputation for using to utmost effect.
Iron Alligator is a known member of criminal organisation The Corporation and some sources suggest the possibility that he is Mark A. Scale, a young man who went missing in Louisiana, USA around ten years ago. Iron Alligator is also wanted by Arachnos for going against laws passed by Arbiter Bishop that all mutants must swear allegiance to the state, along with several other infractions such as vandalism, theft and murder. Very little is known about Lord Darvek apart from the bounty that had been set prior to the fight. It is believed the fight was started over an attempt to collect the bounty.
This terrible battle cost at least 20 Arachnos shipmen their lives, as well as unknown amounts of collateral damage. Unknown amounts of Longbow operatives were slain in the chaos, and some witnesses claim that Paragon hero Commander Beet attempted to apprehend Darvek during and after the fight.
The LRS Garm was originally besieged by Lord Darvek at around 2:51 AM, who allegedly made short work of most of the crew. Iron Alligator then appeared and challenged...(cont. on page 2) -

Quoted for truth.
...No, really, I honestly don't understand this thread. But from what I can make out, this message seems as though it would be better off in the LoRD OOC thread, not on its ownsome here... -
You're making out that every single person in any African country with a teensy bit of political power is a dictatorial tyrant, Liz. Can't say I agree with that.
Taking over real, known locations is utter godmoding because you would be forcing everybody related to the country in their backstory to react accordingly, whether they OOCly like to or not, as somebody stated previously in the topic. Although you're free to think about how the situation of the country might be different in the game world due to different events in history, you can't take it too far. There's lots of empty, open water on this rock, I'm sure you could float a few more islands and countries somewhere in it...
So tell me, how is a country that can be made up, tailored specifically for the needs of the plot, inferior to a real country with RL problems of its own right now? -
Since I've decided that my steam-robot-armoured-Tanker-guy won't fit the "unique" feel of the rest of the team, my altitis has rustled me up something that might fit in:
Name: The Drae'Kul
Reason: He is an alien who only just arrived on Earth and doesn't trust baseline humanity just yet. However the Bushido-esque warrior code his race follows compels him to help those in need.
Profile: Still being drafted in MSWord. Will put it up in a few day's time or so
Appearance: A 7'6, bulky reptillian humanoid creature with several small horns or otherwise natural "spikes" on his face, and brownish-bronze scales. He wears black and grey armour. (Enforcer Tucked in pants, boots, gloves, belt, and chest detail over reptillian skin)
Powers: ((Claws/Invuln scrapper)) His gauntlets originally could project energy blasts and blades (I'll RP them being "fixed" when I get Focus, and Talsorian blades) but were damaged. He has since fitted them with a small extendable blade mechanism. He is also naturally hardy and armour and minor forcefield technology only assists that.
Contact: Drae'Kul is currently living in a small cave in the Hollows, scared and alone, fighting off Trolls and occasionally venturing out to salvage what he can of his ship which was scattered over Grendel's Gulch. ((@Doctor Bolt, will be OOCly leveling elsewhere quite a lot))
I only made him last night and he's level 8 now. Hope the concept fits. -

Hmmmm I think I missed the point here, you're looking for incredibly powerful characters that couldn't fit in with the norm.....
[/ QUOTE ]
Have to disagree with that. The concept was, I believe, somebody who didn't fit in with the norm; not nessecarilly somebody almighty and powerful.
Whatever the case, I have a Tech Tanker who might just fit in with this. He's a fairly ingenius teenage inventor who managed to build himself a nigh-indestructable 8'4 steam-powered robot-suit-thing, but there was a flaw in his designs and he was locked into it with minimal chance of escaping. Thusly he's become extremely introverted and avoids most kinds of social contact, moonlighting as a hero to put the suit to good use.
Think that he'll fit in, although the idea of being in a space ship orbiting Venus... er... xD
(P.S. and I suck at playing a tanker, just for the record :P) -
I've made several attempts at your standard mainstream "evil" villain and ended up deleting them because I simply can't get a feel for them. I can't RP a character of mine if I can't, from an OOC perspective, relate to said character and feel empathy for them. Most of my characters embody certain elements of my own personality, and that makes it easier for me to RP them. This is why I play your standard mercenary, Iron Alligator.
Aside from being a 7' 650lbs bipedal grey lizard (don't ask :P), he's a fairly normal guy who likes his friends, his drink, and on a lesser note, his explosives, who is generally a nice bloke to be around. As a mercenary, unless his contract blatantly specifies he needs to kill a particular person, he tends to hold his punches (seeing as the average punch from him could cave in your skull) and generally avoids killing when it isn't completely nessecary.
Of course, in the Rogue Isles, there's those times where you just can't show any mercy if you want to survive. 'Gator survives. Nuff said.
Although, I have tried your average nutcase villain a few times and I really enjoyed it for a brief period, but when the RP started to reach complicated points regarding his personality, I ended up just dropping him for a bit and going to level OOCly.
I think it's completely true to say that you can't play a truly evil villain for too long without it taking its RL toll, although the longest time I played my proper villain was about 1-2 hours in PD, so I wouldn't quite know. -
There used to be an RP area for Villains called The Clocktower, which as the name suggested was at the Clocktower in Mercy. That was before my time in the game however, it closed a while ago if I heard correctly.
Now though, you're most likely to find Villain RP in Pocket D. -
I HEART SAMURAI PIZZA CATS! <3<3<3
...anyway, Big Lunk pretty much summed that up. If you actually try to RP then kudos, but "Pizzaspine" doesn't just inspire that sort of heroic justice stuff like Major Heroics could. Sorry. -
I suppose I could try and join on Gator (if I can be bothered leveling the bugger :P), his mercenary personality would fit him in like a glove, although considering his appearance, he's more likely to be a target than a team member... xD
Loving the fiction though.Might see if I can rustle up a new vills character to join this.
-
I'm not sure, but logic would point at Laugh Riot, as he's moved all data from that page onto the character's new incarnation, Headliner.

If you're solid on your two troller concepts, It'd depend on what role in a team you want really.
However, if you're planning on having a psychic reporter (And not a charismatic guy with shields of the press :P) I'd go for Mind/FF, because the FF can be ICly represented as telekinesis. Also a good FF Controller/Defender can keep his team from (mostly) needing heals in the first place, which is brill
It's down to you though. I reckon a Mind/FF cont would be more believable in an IC sense though. -
A mind/forcefields controller is obviously the best.
A natural one, too.
The charisma of a reporter (how the hell do they get some of these shots?) and the Shield of the Press...
Okay, end joke.
It's all up to you. Clark Kent had heat vision, ice breath, super strength, could fly, and he was a reporter. Spider-Man had spider-powers. Also a reporter.
There's no powers that would "suit" a reporter. My suggestion would be either an MA/SR scrapper, a broadsword/katana/SR scrapper, an archery Defender or a bow/traps blaster. Alternatively you could have a tech-whatever, and say he uses a suit to fight crime. Still keeps him as normal and reporter-ish as possible, but he still has a secret identity to keep.
Okay, end statement. Good luck with this. It's always cool to see a paparazzi laying the beat on crooks. -
Right, it didn't go through tonight. I'd suggest this friday or next saturday, tbh.
Shame, though. Was looking forward to it. -
So not that one with a ****load of Rikti on? Oh, right.
Parking Bolt there now so I'm not late for the finale thanks to my crappy hover. Grumble grumble.
Oh, and as I type this little edit bit at the end Bolt is leaning against a tree on the island we're supposed to be on with the ridge and stuff. Yay. -
Despite not being involved in the earlier parts of the plot Bolt attended the Suriyah ceremony, and not only would an epic battle on an island where some bird with magic powers is buried interest him it would also... er...
Whatever, I'll be taking part hopefully. -
From what I interpreted she's saying that nothing is original in this world and the few things that are should be accused of being done before and brutally attacked with nucular warheads.
I think. -
I guess I could throw up Bolt's helmet as one of the possible targets for the hunt, but he isn't too well known tbh. Still, he bloody depends on the thing to hide his "ultra-secret identity" and I can imagine some pretty funny RP when he looses it xD
As for my dudes who could be involved, either Kat Kommando or Gator would fit nicely considering their wacky attitudes, Kat's slight kleptomania and Gator's mercenary nature.
Really hope to see this go forward, could end up being infamous on the server's history in the future :P
