OK, so what about us villains?

Looking through the forum (altho I WILL admit, I only took a quick look), and asking around in game, it turned out that there's no real place where villain roleplayers would meet. Heroes have the nice Galaxy Girl, and I found lots of them in Pocked D's snow shack drinking 'warming' liquids. All very nice, but there were no villains in there at all, and it's hard to ask a hero to join me for some fun Longbow butt-kicking.

So, with all my inquiries, all I've found was an invite-only chat channel on Union; for heroes really, but since it's an OOC, there's always a chance that someone's playing a villain at the moment.

So, with all that said, I have a question: IS there a place where villains meet for some role playing action?

And if the answer is NO, then how about some more definite movement to PICK such a place?

There used to be an RP area for Villains called The Clocktower, which as the name suggested was at the Clocktower in Mercy. That was before my time in the game however, it closed a while ago if I heard correctly.

Now though, you're most likely to find Villain RP in Pocket D.

there was one. the clock tower. apparently it stopped pretty soon after it was started. probably due to people having no real reason to be there.

EVIL used to have quite a few villains in D's, with many nights over half the bar taken up by our members. But EVIL was killed off by internal squabbling, and the splinter group died a death as a pale reflection of the original.
And of course, the largest RPVG, the Corporation, just doesn't have the drinking culture that EVIL used to.

The obvious hangout for villains only would be the monkey fight club in sharkhead. Unfortunately, not only do few know of its existence, but it is not the easiest place for low-level players to access.

On the flip side, D's is easy to access and known to all, but all too often filled with 'undesirable elements'

Barring someone setting up a villain equivalent to 4th wall, I can't really see a villain RP spot developing.

The biggest problem has always been that villains tend to be more suspicious and antisocial than their heroic counterparts - from my experience, that was why the Clocktower meets died a quiet death.

It's difficult to explain why a large number of villains (i.e. more than about three) would decide to meet up at the same place at the same time, every night (or every other night, or however often suits the players) because of this. I'm not saying that all villains are antisocial, but those that aren't tend to be the ones who are already in RP SGs and the like.

Also, I have noticed that there is a decidedly stronger RP 'vibe' for villains when there are HEROES available for them to trick/talk to/annoy. This makes PD a pretty damn good place for villain RP.

One thing I did encounter in a recent plotline (still ongoing, actually) I ran/am running is that if there is a hero 'slumming it' in the Isles, then villain RP can be very entertaining, particularly if there is a reason for the hero and the villains in question to work together. I am fully intending to expand upon this in the future (when the two plotlines I currently have on the go are finished). It's a fascinating idea to 'port' a hero across to the Isles on a solid basis and explore him/her coping with how different life is out there.

So... with all that's been said... where should I look as a villain for other role players?

Now, about a year ago, I used to be part of EVIL, which was cool, but then I took a REALLY long break from CityOfX, and... well, as Lunk put it nicely, EVIL just doesn't seem to be the same thing any more (I still see a lot of people from that SG, but no one I know / remember).

Now, I myself enjoy only an 'occasional' roleplaying session, and I don't mind going OOC mindless mob-killing, so while I enjoyed my time at EVIL, I don't think I'll switch SGs for one that's more RP oriented... at least not for the time being.

But still, I'd really love to team up a bit with my crazy robot, especially since my 'robo-speak' skills are getting rusty, and need some serious oiling. So... if anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears.

And since I'm on the subject (altho this probably deserves it's own topic), may I ask those interested to read the bio I wrote for Nexus Com? http://shaamaan.neostrada.pl/Nexus.html
Please excuse the harsh format, as I didn't want to waste time formatting the text, and just 'get it out there' ASAP.

(I'd like to point out that whatever I got from before I left the game over a year ago is long gone, after the few reinstalls and formats that had taken place, and I've allowed myself to change reality a little bit... In case anyone has any objections to things that don't fit with what happened - if you can even spot the differences that is - let me know.)

As always in such cases, criticism is welcome.

I only managed to make a few clock tower meetings, and even then felt out of place as my character really had little reason to go there, other than the occasional visit to look for cannon fodder for the VG he is with, the gotterdamrung conspiriacy :P

The various one offs were more fun and made more sense, the boathouse mercs meeting thingy was good and had a good turnout.
