  1. Generally people prefer it if you drop in a Data Chunk.

I'm guessing with the purples/PvPs you don't mind paying for the things you want, so I kept it in mind as I remade the build from the ground up. End recovery is lower, and resistance is about the same. The big differences are more global recharge, softcapped to S/L (Which is generally preferred) as well as to E/N. Total HP is lower, regrettably, but with S/L defense up as high as it is you won't get hit as much and you have higher regen. End Drain is also much lower (Higher if you turn Focused Accuracy on your build). You do lose the two ranged attacks from your Epics, but in return you get Hasten for a two minute boost of recharge.

  2. If you get Smoke Grenade plus something to stack stealth on Cloaking Devices (Super Speed or a Stealth IO in Sprint) then you can stealth whole missions that involve getting an item. Get to the item, smoke any nearby mobs (SG has -Perception) and get the glowie.
  3. Might explain why I hear that an SS/Fire Brute is the ultimate farmer.

    Of course YMMV.
  4. Haven't looked at the build yet, so don't know how tight it is, but if you can spare the slots then put some Resistance IOs into Deflection since it houses SD's S/L resistance.
  5. I'm going Void on my Dark/Dark/Soul Defender... But that's for theme.

If none of the Judgements fits my theme then I'll pick either Ion or Pyre. But always Reactive interface for -res and DoT.
  6. Also the +Damage is a lot more useful when your just starting an attack and have yet to build any Fury.
  7. Softcapping an FF is possible enough, both total positional or Ranged and/or AoE. Not as easy as, say, a Traps defender but you don't need to worry about something following you that can be blown up, you ARE the generator.

Power Mastery is worth a look. Temp Invulnerability offers 30% S/L resistance and once slotted and paired with Tough can nearly hard cap your S/L Resistances. In addition Power Build Up increases the defense of your bubbles (Which are now AoE) giving your teammates MUCH better defenses. Force of Nature is iffy, Conserve Power is nice to have but not needed and Total Focus is useful if you find yourself in someone's face all the time.

In addition it's great on teams since it gives everyone near you a good dose of defense.

If you are soloing just turn it off until you hit -def heavy mobs like Arachnos or Cimoreans.

As for Slash, whether or you take it depends on whether or not you took Parry. Parry, unenhanced, gives 15% defense to melee & lethal each time it hits. On one hand if you take Parry you only need 30% melee defense, hitting Parry once will softcap you. On the other hand you may not want to bother with it, so might softcap without it.

Using or not using Parry is a choice you'll need to make, but as long as you design a toon with this in mind there is nothing wrong with going either route.
  9. I am also of the opinion we should be able to get the Patron Powers from the hero side just to avoid the aggravation of having to wait four days (I do have work) just cause you want Soul/Mu/Mace/Lev Mastery. I also think they should STILL be tied to an arc. I would propose that this arc be delivered by one of four Freedom Phalanx members ; Synapse, Positron, Manticore or Sister Psyche as suggestions, and would have your character infiltrate the Rouge Isles on a recon/infiltration mission. Each FP member would be responsible for getting info on one of Lord Recluse's generals. At the end of the arc you would fight said general and gain information about their particular mastery powers, letting you use them for your own. Of course unlocking one will unlock all of them for you. This way you can nab the Patron Pool Powers, run a cool arc and not have to leave Paragon City if you don't need to.
  10. Now my Dark/Dark is at level 45 and I plan on moving her to red just long enough to nab Soul Mastery.

Oddly enough the bulk of my high level toons are tanks or scrappers, (My only two 50s are Tanks) and this is my first SUPPORT toon to be in striking distance of 50.
  11. I played Street Justice, briefly, on Beta and I've liked what I've seen. ST centric with a decent bit of AoE, and an interesting Combo System. I plan to remake one of my toons, based on Stephine Brown (Spoiler/Robin IV/Batgirl III) from an MA/Nin Stalker to a Street Justice/Super Reflexes Scrapper. I just LOVE the animations in it which seems to be a mix of street brawling and kickboxing.

I used mids to pre-plan, using Fire Melee as a place holder. Fire Breath is acting as a place holder for Sweeping Cross and will be slotted with a full Oblit Set, bringing melee up to 47% defense to match ranged and AoE, plus add another 5% Global Recharge for 117.5% total after the hard to get Purple Sets. I know people tend to look down on Shuriken and Exploding Shuriken, but it's a theme build.

I thought I'd ask for a few opinions before anything else, see if anyone else on the Beta has anything to offer.

  12. I'm not much of a controller player, I prefer melee toons, but I decided I'd try and make a new one that I could grind up to 50. At the very least, with the changes to the sets two main buffs, I think it might be a winner.

I aimed for fuller positional softcap but I wasn't able to get melee defense up so I said 'screw it' and just softcapped Ranged and AoE instead. Since it's meant to stay at range but close enough for Dispersion Bubble it should keep me safe enough. With S/L Resistance at 71% I can shrug off some attacks as well.

I slotted a total or 4 normal +2 Mag Hold procs plus the Purple (Plus set) in my AoE immobilize which will, hopefully, held lock down harder targets.

Alpha will be a Core Muscular for the added damage since I don't want to rely on Lift and Propel for damage.

Personal Force Field + the Stealth IO in Sprint should let me zoom to the end of mishes, letting me use Recall Friend to make long TFs shorter.

Lastly is that I think Power Boost will act very well with the bubbles. My shields go from offering 17% def to 30% def. And since they're AoE now I can do some heavy buffage.

  13. Things like Caltrops and Trip Mine will shine a lot more when you are letting the villains come to you. Traps (And Devices, to a lesser extent) really shine in spots liek the first Terra Volta trial and the BAF Incarnate Trial where you have time to lay down traps and let the mobs come to you.
  14. I know of one person on Virtue who has an Emp/Eng Defender. Has only the base attack, unslotted. Picked up the Medicine pool, leadership I believe... More or less to be a 'Pure Healer', which she's quite effective at.

More or less one of those 'concept' builds.
  15. I do have a level 30+ Dark/Dark as well as two new ones started I made based on concept, a Traps/DP and a FF/Eng.
  16. Time Bomb is awesome... in Devices. Devices has Smoke Grenade and Clocking Device which lets you walk up to a mob's feet, set the Time Bomb and get away, making it a great first, opening move.

In Traps, unless you want to drop a space to pick up some Stealth, it's mostly pointless.

I'm going to need to disagree.

When you exemplar down to that level you won't be the unstoppable tanking machine you once were. You might not have all the powers you'll want/need to handle damage and you SHOULD have your Taunt Aura to hold Aggro. That power slot will be better served with something more useful to the level, such as another attack or power like Combat Jumping.

Taunt shouldn't, IMHO, be taken until about level 24 or so, and can be held off until level 30+. You don't really need to worry about aggro management until then (TF wise, anyway, nothing at the point is really hard to handle) and you should be worrying about survivability and damage.
  18. After seeing this thread I decided to make one of my own. Then liked it enough that I think I'll remake my EM/EA Brute to SS/EA.

  19. Went into your build. Your defense was, well, rather low. The rebuild bumped S/L up to softcap (45%) and E/N to almost 35%. Remember, you want defense. The less you get hit the longer you live. The longer you live the longer you can hold aggro.

+End and Total Recovery was lowered a bit, but it's Willpower so it's not like that'll hurt much. Global Recharge get a good boost up. Taunt IOs were removed from the attacks for an Acc/Dam IO and a Common Taunt IO was slapped into Rise to the Challenge (Your Taunt Aura) to help grab and keep aggro. You normally wouldn't need that, but Willpower is known for a weaker than normal taunt aura.

Overall I think this build will be much more survivable.

  20. It's a great build... If all you do is Fire Farms.

I'd recommend keeping the build, but make a second one based on getting 40-45% S/L defense that you can swap to for general content. As it is 40% F/C without a matching S/L is awesome for Fire Farms and most winter event content, but not general content.
  21. Not a PvPer, but I noticed you have a VERY big AoE hole to close, remember Hide's defense to AoE is HEAVILY suppressed in combat. Plus no S/L resistance. I made a quick redo, took out the Leadership powers and Invisibility for Fighting, slotted Super Speed with the +Stealth IO (SS has a stealth component as well) and left in Stealth (You will hit softcap without it being on) and took out the second Positron's Blast for the Ragnarok Knockdown Proc. End drain is, in the end, much, much lower and global recharge is much higher. Slotted Assassin's Strike with Hetacomb, you seem to be able to nab purples. If you can't get Hetacomb, Crushing Impact will do.

    This.

Stalkers are awesome for doing sudden burst damage. They can do more damage in a short time period that other classes thanks to Assassin's Strike.

However the longer a fight drags out the more other ATs out damage it and the more it's lower HP becomes a factor.

I generally recommend a high defense secondary for Stalkers; Ninjitsu, Energy Aura or Super Reflexes. Willpower, if you can softcap it.

Also since it's so stealthy taking Recall Friend if possible. Helps speed up those long TFs.
  23. WP is a great set, it's the love child Invul and Regen had together.

You'll have Psionic defense and resistance, most sets in the game might get one or the other or neither, but WP has both. You're S/L Resistance is quite good, and your E/N/F/C defense is solid. You'll have regeneration this side of a Regen and an awesome amount of recovery.

It's major weaknesses are that it has no self heal and it's S/L defense is abysmal, but with the proper slotting/IO set bonuses you can mitigate it.

My advise is slot for S/L defense first, E/N after and then global recharge. Hasten is great to have, but you don't need it. Also with your high recovery you can use Leadership powers much easier.

    That's what I said!

Also if your really want that KB Protection you can slot a travel power with Blessing of the Zephyr.
