Epic Pool for FF/NRG Def?
Psy Mastery - Mind over Body is a great addition to self preservation. If you can learn the ins and outs telekinesis is better in situations than force bubble.

HelinCarnate:OMG it is so terrible. I have the option to take 3 more powers but no additional slots. Boo F'ing hoo.
Mace mastery and take just scorp shield and nothing else. It is very unobtrusive and won't hurt your theme at all. Plus with dispersion, maneuvers and either hover or CJ, you have softcapped s/l right then and there, leaving you free to do other stuff with your set bonuses, like lots of +recharge (or whatever else you want.)
"Hi, my name is Ail. I make people sick."
A partial selection from my 50's on Freedom: Ail = Ice/Traps, Luck = Street Justice/Super Reflexes Stalker, Mist = Bane, Pixy = Trick Arrow/Archery, Pure = Gravity/Energy, Smoke = Fire/Fire Dominator
Softcapping an FF is possible enough, both total positional or Ranged and/or AoE. Not as easy as, say, a Traps defender but you don't need to worry about something following you that can be blown up, you ARE the generator.
Power Mastery is worth a look. Temp Invulnerability offers 30% S/L resistance and once slotted and paired with Tough can nearly hard cap your S/L Resistances. In addition Power Build Up increases the defense of your bubbles (Which are now AoE) giving your teammates MUCH better defenses. Force of Nature is iffy, Conserve Power is nice to have but not needed and Total Focus is useful if you find yourself in someone's face all the time.
So I've surfed around and read some guides, many of which are a bit dated. I decided to come straight to the source and get your ideas.
I'm playing a redside Defender. FF/NRG with Flight and Stealth pools. Due to the scarcity and 'quality' of teams lately, personal survivability is important. On the other hand, I do enjoy having a bag of tricks to draw from.
From a thematic standpoint (yes I'm one of THOSE people), my character doesn't fully understand the item that gives him his power. He's learned to produce a number of effects and is always finding more. Mace Mastery is right out. Pretty much anything else would fit.
I'm thinking Power, Psy, or Elec. What do you think?
As always, thank you in advance for any input.
