  1. Most Visually fun toon for me is my Martial Arts/SR scrapper with Jump Kick as part of his attack chain...He looks like something strait out of a action movie in the middle of a fight...

    If it's orange numbers flying skyward, I have to pick my Fire/Fire blaster.

    And finally, if its Bruce Willis / Arnie Schwartzenterminator bodies flying here and there action your looking for, nothing competes to my AR/Dev Blaster...TP Foe into 6 Trip Mines...hhahahahaha...Good Times...

    Not the I'm trying to quible here...But there are a ton of reasons to take Hover...and it never becomes obsolete just because you soon have Flight...also...I have toons that I never even took flight and just kept hover slotted for flight speed and +Def.

    Sorry, back on topic, AS is great and I take it on almost all of my Melee toons early as damage mitigation, run stopper power, and -fly...I might respec out of it later depending on the toon but for lowbie toons it's a great all around tool.
  3. Suprised no one has made the suggestion of either a SS/Shield Brute or (anything)/Dark Armor Tanker/Scrapper/Brute...

    By the description of your combat tech you want to be in the middle and have the damage rain around you. If this is the case any AT with DA will help considerably with the AoE Heals and constant damage Auras...You will pull the Agro as you run into and through mobs. Then just pick the Attack power you like the most, all have some AoE though I would stay away from Energy Melee due to KB constantly thinning your mob.

    Brutes, Electric Melee is probably the best AoE due to it's damage mitigation (enemies doin the zappy dance) and End Drain.

    Scrappers, it's all about the Spines baby...King of the AoE melee...AoE, Slows, and Toxic Damage...Oh My!

    Tanks, well any Attack set will do just pick a flavor and go with it...

    My personal favorite for running and stomping is SS/Shield Brute...Consider this attack chain (Availible @lvl 35) [Rage] + [Shield Charge] + [Foot Stomp] = About 1000+ Damage, plus Maximum Carnage, and large piles of bodies lying around...Throw in the occasional KB Blow for the remaining EB/AV and you've got a party...

    100m in 9secs equates to roughly 23Mph/37Kph

    According to Mids...Any AT with x2 slot Swift x3 slot Sprint with SOs gets 36.6Mph/58.9Kph

    As a comparison;
    x/SR Scrapper with +x1 slot SO in Quickness gets roughly +6.75Mph(43.3)/10.8Kph(69.7)

    IOs get you +2-3Mph extra

    So if you are reaching 50Mph+ that's pretty average for a toons travel.

    Just to throw a few more numbers out there;

    x0 slot Fly aprox 40.3Mph/64.9Kph
    x3 SO/IO slot Fly aprox 58.6Mph/94.4Kph

    x0 slot Super Speed aprox 64.4Mph/103.7Kph
    x3 slot SO/IO SS w/Sprint on and x1 Swift aprox 148.9Mph(capped) 206.4(uncapped)

    x0 slot Super Jump aprox 50.0Mph/80.4Kph
    x3 slot SO/IO SJ aprox 78.0Mph(capped) 83.8(uncapped)

    Combat Jumping doesn't greatly change your speed but does increase Jump Height.

    Raptor Pack speed aprox 35.8Mph/57.6Kph

    At least for my 2nd and 3rd Power Trays...I use the Std movement keys + 1-0 for the 1st Trays Powers and I also use the F1-F4 keys for green/purple/blue/yellow insps...All other powers etc I click...

    I always put the same type of powers in the same spots depending on the AT I am playing at the time…heh

    Basic DOT attacks slots [1] – [4]

    Sniper Attacks always in slot [5]

    Cone Attacks always in slot [6]

    Heals…Slot [7] Single Target or [8] AoE
    Or
    Additional Cone/AoE Attacks…Slot [7]
    AoE Attacks…always in Slot [8]

    Travel Power…Slot [9]

    Run/Sprint…Slot [0]

    Having memorized the keys by touch makes such a huge difference...I never have to look at what I'm keying...Especially because I am Macro & Key Bind dyslexic, if I had these guys I would be in serious trouble …so no Binds/Macros for me…

    "Could" would, in this case, be defined as being capable of doing so without losing far too many customers to be worthwhile.

    The devs' ability in this game is NOT absolute. There are technological and practicality limitations on what they can and can't do. This would fall into the latter.

    I disagree wholeheartedly...

    Once again you are proclaiming your understanding of things, as being the only way things are/must be. Your practicality is not all people’s practicality; you are making the assumptions that because you, as Darktyger, would not find it practical to Nerf Bat AE. Therefore the Devs obliviously agree with you.

    I take a different view; the Devs can read as well as I, that there are people in the game that are happy or unhappy with various aspects of their game. If, in the Devs opinions, this unhappiness rises to an intolerable level then their level of discretion to fix an offending aspect of the game is absolute, there can be no argument to these facts. It is their world and we are just occupying space within it, I hazard to think that if intolerable content was let loose and never reigned in, regardless of player opinion, what sort of game this might become.

    Hence my adding "My definition" into the mix...And I am still curious about transition rates...

    As a side note, I deleted about 1/3 of the original post from my document that actually stated my feelings about Dev Choice/Hall of Fame arcs for readability . Though maybe I should not have done so because it inevitably proves that almost the whole game is based on farming to some extent or another...With a "liberal" interpretation that is...heh

    Let me get this strait...A "Farm type mission" is not a thing...Instead it is an action based on a thing...And I'm the liberal interpreter?

    Going to have to check my dictionary again...I'm confused...

    At what point does the transition actually take place, because I'm terribly interested when the transformation actually happens...A number would suffice...3 times, 5 times, and does it have to be by the same group...or how about one core person and 7 other individuals each time...this is so complicated...

  13. I just had to jump in on this one...And let me say it now...

    This is IMHO, I have the flame retardant gloves on for the coming flame storm, so nothing you can type will hurt my posterior, including attacks against my typing and proof reading skills...

    I have been playing the MA since it came out, I have done well over 500 different player made missions (yes I play that much and I very rarely step out of the MA now-a-days), and IMHO, 9 out of 10 missions I do are what I consider Farm type mission...Just so were all clear on what I consider "Farm Type" missions; Single open maps, large mobs, race track style fighting, throw a boss or twenty into the mix just for spice...

    I have seriously searched the MA for something I would find enjoyable as a "story" arc and I think that some of you people have serious delusions of grandeur going on here...A few have met my standard as regards to a decent story to skim threw as I move on to the next fight, but come on, last I checked there were tens of thousands of arcs out there. So either you are completely blinded by your own brilliance, are surrounded by friends that just love your story telling skills, or you know you're terrible but just feel you must tell your great and grand tales, get over yourselves and get a grip on reality.

    I agree with what one person posted back a few pages ago...Without the farmers, MA would have been a blip on the screen and once everybody got their "grand arcs" into the game it would have become minimal background noise to the rest of the game.

    Farming is what MA is. Story, epic tales, meh...I can barely keep a team together through one of these borefests...But throw a PUG of 8 different toons into a good racetrack farm and we all have what we want...

    Lastly, as a small indication that my opinion is based on some shred of truth, take a tour around the various AE building throughout the cities, Blue & Red side...You tell me where the people are, Steel...ummm nope...PI...ummm maybe a couple hold-out 50s...Grandville...haha ghost-town...They're in the lowbie areas...20s, 30s, 40s, 50s....they're all there...Why do you think...hmmmm...Oh I know, it’s because they want to do all the great non-Auto SK "story arc" missions...Now why didn’t I think about that…duh…

    Once again, IMHO.

    I like this idea alot but think that we'd be asking to much for four different levels...Why not two levels to show a basic progression for people that still want to use their Origin Powers;

    Magic
    Apprentice Charm lvl 1-25
    Masters Charm lvl 26-50
    (Additional -Res + Mag 1 Hold)

    Mutant
    Mutagen lvl 1-25
    Unstable DNA lvl 26-50
    (Additional -Dam + Mag 1 Immobilize)

    Technology
    Taser Dart lvl 1-25
    Advanced Taser lvl 26-50
    (Additional Damage/Range + Mag 2 Hold...Taser already has Mag 1 Hold)

    Natural
    Throwing Knives lvl 1-25
    Throwing Knives (Cone) lvl 26-50
    (Same power as Rouge Isle Snake LTs & Bosses)

    Science
    Tranq Dart lvl 1-25
    Anesthesia Grenade lvl 26-50
    (AOE Mag 1 Sleep)

    Now all of those are clearly do-able and would not require a major overhaul in code for the Devs...
  16. I made 1 short mission, recieved 4-5 stars for arount 40-50 plays....Some would call it a farm because it's an outside map...Even though there are a mix of Minnions, LT's and an EB/AV to fight...

    With the Nerf Bat of Demacleus looming is the wings I have decided to withhold any additional arcs, and that's the pity of all of this MA insanity caused by the Exploit Farmers and the Anti-All Farming crowds...

    There might have been a brillant story to be told within this medium that could have been played and passed around word of mouth to be played some more...But in the end all these so called story tellers didn't like the competition, and called the cops to come shut the party down....

    I have a question and a challenge.

    I tried to find a consolidated listing/thread like this but could not, though I did find a couple individual listings.

    I'd heard a lot of rumors about strong TF/SF teams out there doing TF/SFs in really incredible times, but I found no consolidated thread where people could post screen shots and team make-ups.

    So I wanted to know if anyone was willing to post their Final screen shots from any TF/SF.

    Info needed to make it work would be the following;

    1. Link to Screen Shot with finishing time of which ever TF/SF.

    2. Team make-up
    a. ATs
    b. Levels of team members
    c. Vet status of team members

    3. Server

    I would really like to see this consolidated. I and a few friends are thinking of doing all available TF/SFs and posting our results.

    Note: If my search-fu is lacking and someone can point me to the exsisting thread that would be fine also...

  21. Saw the movie last Saturday, in IMAX no less, and was blown away by the spot on character development they went through to get each of the original 7 down pat...I thought Kirk, Spock, and McCoy were especially well done.

    Just wish they had done the same for the overall story and tech'y stuff...I think a lot of that was "duck-tape and twine" so to speak...I mean, the previous movies set a standard that was easily achievable and this movie fell far short of even the 1st 80s version Star Trek movie...ah well I'm to big a Trekkie geek I guess, I was just hoping for too much...

    Here's hoping that the inevitable sequel(s) brings the story and tech stuff up to snuff now that they know that the fan base is still active and interested...

    You need to check your facts...

    CoX has been steadily losing players over the years and with the eminent release of not one but two competitors, which it has never had before, things may go south quickly. At this rate CoX is in real danger, if one of these new guys on the block is a real hit. The population of the game has stabilized recently and might have even gotten a bump with the whole “reactivation event” that just went through but that won’t last if the whole reason people came back is sliced and diced into something else.

    I agree that MA was a great idea, but in the execution it felt a bit lacking and a vocal minority threw their weight against these same boards and got what they wanted...an empty AE bldg where they and their friends can go and RP to their hearts content.

    Nerfing the system as it was originally set has just begun a process that may not show it's real teeth until mid July after CO comes out and has a thorough workout by the public...If it's good then say bye bye to thousands of players...then whenever DCOL happens, if it's good...stick a fork in CoX as it is, because a MMO with too few players is not really an MMO now is it...
  23. I know all of my favorites have been said, but the 3 things I have been most happy about are;

    1. Redo and update for the Hollows...No more running to Atlas to level up...WOOOT!

    2. VEATS...Now we need more, because this was a great addition to Red side, and if this is the 1st try I can't wait to see the follow up...

    3. Costume packs...Wedding, Cyborg, and (I know it was 2009) Valkerie...these are great and I can't wait to see the next one...Magic costume parts...

    And on a side note, just knowing that there is a mission creator on the way in 2009 made me even more enthusiastic about the game...I'm sure i14 will be at the top of next years best of 2009 lists...

    Oh...and really long Hair...How about a bigger Afro look also...the current large Afro look just doesn't look big enough for me to do my "Super Pimp" on the red side...

    Also how about new hair add ons...like Pick Combs, Daggers/Knives or Bones in the hair...maybe a Dew-Rag look...
