50.2 mph running speed with no travel power
[ QUOTE ]
Would 50.2 mph running speed be reasonable for traveling?
Has anyone done this?

I am hitting liek 45 to 50 on both my /sr's with swift + quickness + sprint and some movement speed IO buffs and have had no issues did it pre IO's as well

Nice...do you have hurdle and combat jumping as well?
I plan to do this with combat jumping but no hurdle.

I haven't made a runner (yet), but I've got numerous jumpers. With Hurdle, CJ and set bonuses, I can move at 52-55 mph easily. One build I've put together in Mids' would top out at 59 mph Jump Speed.

On one just Combat jumping made it easier to soft cap my defense the other has hurdle at 49 to fill a last power I had no extra slots left so I just took hurdle because
I also forgot the best part is in missions I turn off sprint and run at fast speeds on the map with no endurance burn and no suppression. Great stuff on maps

Yeah, I'm just wondering if Combat Jumping is going to give me enough jump height for most things.

I did Hover late build for vertical pre IO's when I could not soft cap the defense so that is always an option

[/ QUOTE ]Most things, yes. The few things CJ can't get you over, you can use a Raptor Pack or the GvE Jump Pack.

I have a stalker that does just this. As of now I have sprint triple slotted with SO's and Swift Double slotted (also with SO's) This gives me Olympic class speed doing 100m in about 9 seconds. Not sure what that would be in MPH. I still need to add on to my Hurdle. Add this together with Hide and I can go just about anywhere with no worries.

100m in 9s is a bit under the world record time of 9.71s set by Usain Bolt in the olympics last year. So in mph that can't be much over 22-23 mph. Impressive for regular people? Hell yea. Impressive for heroes? In my mind? No.

Only if you are too cheap to pay the 10,000 inf price for a Raptor Pack from the vendor in Grandville.
I did a few quick computations;
100m in 9secs equates to roughly 23Mph/37Kph
According to Mids...Any AT with x2 slot Swift x3 slot Sprint with SOs gets 36.6Mph/58.9Kph
As a comparison;
x/SR Scrapper with +x1 slot SO in Quickness gets roughly +6.75Mph(43.3)/10.8Kph(69.7)
IOs get you +2-3Mph extra
So if you are reaching 50Mph+ that's pretty average for a toons travel.
Just to throw a few more numbers out there;
x0 slot Fly aprox 40.3Mph/64.9Kph
x3 SO/IO slot Fly aprox 58.6Mph/94.4Kph
x0 slot Super Speed aprox 64.4Mph/103.7Kph
x3 slot SO/IO SS w/Sprint on and x1 Swift aprox 148.9Mph(capped) 206.4(uncapped)
x0 slot Super Jump aprox 50.0Mph/80.4Kph
x3 slot SO/IO SJ aprox 78.0Mph(capped) 83.8(uncapped)
Combat Jumping doesn't greatly change your speed but does increase Jump Height.
Raptor Pack speed aprox 35.8Mph/57.6Kph

I can get behind the no travel power suppression for PvP and no endurance burn and being able to run that fast at times...however, I would think that to take all of the power slots and enhancement slots you use to beef sprint, swift, quickness, hurdle, and combat jumping up to those speeds would be a bit wasteful when you could just take super speed/super jump and use the slots on other things like endurance reductions and such and beat those speeds still.

Thanks for that great breakdown! I didn't realize SS was THAT much faster than other ones! Any idea how TP compares?
What is capped vs uncapped? That's quite a large difference on the SS speeds. Is that just the effects of ED or is there some sort of speed cap?
TP can be very fast once you get used to using it. I use a bind to make it easier. It does use a lot of end if you don't slot for it, but I can get across a zone really fast.

It isn't. That should read 92.5mph/148.9kph.

There is a hard cap on movement rate for the various travel types, except for Teleport, which is limited only by how much you can enhance the range (I think).

Thanks for the cap info. I decided to putz around in Mids myself and discovered that the jump speed boost from Hurdle is SIGNIFICANTLY faster than the run or fly speed boost from Swift. So much so that it makes me never want to take swift again and it kinda makes me want to respec every character I have OUT of swift.
FYI, here are the unbuffed numbers:
Base Run: 14.3 mph
Base Jump: 14.3 mph
Run+Swift: 19.3 mph
Run+Swift+Sprint: 26.5 mph
Run+Swift w/1 SO+Sprint w/1 SO: 30.5 mph
Jump+Hurdle: 32.1 mph
Jump+Hurdle w/1 SO: 38.1 mph
WTF? Why would I ever take swift when I could bunny hop with Jump+Hurdle at nearly double the speed of Run+Swift?? I'm really surprised that, out of all the guides I've read and builds I've perused in my 2 months in this game, I've NEVER seen this mentioned. Is Mids correct here?
Yes, Mids is correct.
Part of the difference is in that "jumping" from place to place has more issues than running.
Say in the tunnel maps or in other areas where there is very little clearance for jumping around.
Personally I feel this is offset by the ability to get over certain obstacles with leaping but I do know that it is very annoying to be constantly crashing into the ceiling when trying to use Hurdle as travel power indoors.
I can hit the run speed cap without a travel power on my Kinetics defender. AND it's perma with luck on my side.

On /sr scrappers/brutes and electric can do it as well it is easy with just two slots one in swift and 1 quickness in do not forget some IO give a 7.5% boost and some with others
It does depend on builds and IO's

Yeah, I was going to point that out, but then I saw your post.
Hurdle is so good, in fact, that it alone gives a high speed boost than Swift, Sprint *and* Quickness combined together.
Would 50.2 mph running speed be reasonable for traveling?
Has anyone done this?
