Justice has a pretty dedicated bunch of aussies in #australia and #antipodes that have something running regularily just about every night. They do a lot of taskforces and organised teams. Check the Oceania forum section.

Virtue/Freedom still has more population at that time (aussie peak times in early morning US times) but is more adhoc.

Why resub just for Alpha strike when you havent even been told that it would be ready? Can't blame NCsoft for what they havent said....

Suppose I were to ask NCSoft if there was any disadvantage to subscribing for a year instead of monthly for a year, given the annual subscription rate is cheaper. Should they be forced to say:

At the moment there is no material advantage to subscribing for twelve individual months as opposed to a year at once given the rate savings, but that presumes subscription rates don't change in the future, you use all twelve months of the subscription, and some future opportunity doesn't arise which could place you at a disadvantage relative to someone who isn't locked into a longer subscription term, of which we may or may not currently forsee but which may involve advantages other than simple rate changes and encompass qualitative and quantitative differences in value proposition within that timespan, which should not be taken to presume that any such changes are currently foreseen or being pursued, nor should it be assumed that such changes are not currently being pursued, as it would be against policy to discuss such possibilities before they are finalized and we reserve the right to announce any such change in a manner which would imply that such changes were being contemplated at any time up to and including when this answer was drafted, as a result deferring the requisite decision to your best judgment given the information that is currently available, and with the full knowledge that such information may be necessarily incomplete.

or, alternatively, the answer most people would consider to be the reasonable one, which is:

    No.

If that answer changes tomorrow, it changes. That's not deception, that's life. "There are no benefits to preordering" was true when the statement was made. It therefore cannot be deceptive by definition. Even if you think it was deceptive, there was no possible remedy, because it was impossible to mention a buying option that didn't exist at the time.

The problem is that some people assumed it was a promise not just a statement of fact. And that's an unreasonable expectation.
I agree that NCSoft can't include information for the future.
But we are talking a couple of months, not twelve. I'd also be really surprised to find out that marketing didn't plan 12 months ahead but only NCSoft really would when they knew of the upcoming preorder offer.
They certainly left that text there right up to the minute before they offered the preorder deal, ie they knew about the preorder deal and left the deceptive no incentives there.

If they offered the complete collection for half price, or the IO Bling in 6 months I don’t think I'd have any issue with it.

I'm really glad to see someone say that 'buying option that didn't exist at the time' as half the posts insulting me are claiming all the options were there to start with.

To be honest I really don’t understand all your stuff in small print other than a long way of saying stuff changes. But I don’t really think your example is similar.

I've tried to avoid examples as they don't compare well but if McDonalds offered free cheese on their burgers with no timeframe or conditions in their adverts and you went there later that same afternoon and they said the offer was only good for while during the 30 seconds that advert was running on TV, I'm sure people would call that deceptive, even though that advert was just making a statement about the present.

It’s clear to me that my use of the word deceptive hits people’s emotional triggers. But I don't know a better word for explaining what I feel occurred. Deceptive is a lesser phrase to me than false advertising/bait switch and other stronger phrases I don't think are the case.
The opposite of straight forward is deceptive & I don't feel NCSoft managed the prepurchase/preorder in a straight forward way, and you’re right in saying there probably is no remedy for that, but that doesn’t mean NCSoft shouldn't be aware of how some (other people posted in the discussion thread who thought similarly to me) of their customer base may interpret their action.

edit: and this is really begining to feel too much of a threadjack from an otherwise interesting thread. I shouldnt of said anything to start with, its all been said inthe offical discussion thread anyhow.

Furthermore NCSoft flat out told us that when they announced the Prepruchase Program they had no intention of offering any preorder bonuses thru retailers. The decision to offer a preorder bonus was in part the result of feedback they got from us,

And even after they decided to offer both the prepurchase program and the preorder thru Gamestop they took the time to explain the differences between the two of them.

So you can rant and deny the facts all you like, but the truth is they gave us all the information they had as soon as it was available.
A Rant? You call one sentence a rant? You know, just because someone disagrees with you, doesnt make it a rant. Though really I think you call it a rant as that makes it easy for you to avoid facts.

But as your post agrees, the facts are
    1) NCSoft said "Nor are there any benefits for preording"
    2) NCSoft offered incentives for preordering. (the special IOs plus gamer bling)

I think I can see where the deception is.

I have no idea why you would put screen shots of FAQs for after NCSoft changed the incentives excepts its smoke and mirrors to avoid facing the facts - much like calling my post a rant.

Wanting Paragon to describe the purchasing options and not change than months after people spend thier money is so not the same as your fantasy of having them come to house to explain.

I was entirely ready to pre-purchase, as I thought this would be the way to go for extras.
But nope, I was fine waiting a little longer to play two sets if I got a free month along with costume and aura options. I didn't have to cut through lawyer speak or anything confusing to figure this out, either: the options were laid out side by side and I made my decision easily. We discussed it on the Victory section of the forums right after the announcement: no confusion there, either.

They annoucend what you could get with your type of order for the game. Months later they changed that. Really I dont get how people dont understand that. Or post that that wasn't true.

Not the benefits of costumes and aura, that was upfront as I wish it all the purchase options were. But getting special IO procs was not mentioned until months afterwards.

Those options were not laid out side by side. How can you say that they were with a straight face?

I'm amazed that you had those options of preordering to gain special IOs plus bling when you were making your purchasing choice. It wasn't there when I was making my desicon.Did you time travel or just pretend you had the facts from the start?

Even day one people were wondering how we would get the extras if we pre-purchased.

So any statements that the choice was confusing can only be made by people who couldn't read simple English.

    Again with insults over facts.

So, you really can say that on the day it came out people were debating whether to prepurchase to get early access to ATs or to wait and preorder and get the special IO's.

No wait - your options didnt even include all the options that anyone who can read simple English understands. Does that mean you dont understand simple English?

You clearly laid out options missed that choice 3, that there would be incentives for preordering. The Special IO's. No surprise you miss out the information.

When they bought the pre-purchase in order to get access to DP and DS they assumed they'd be getting they'd be getting the extras and free month when GR went live. All they saw was early access and didn't bother to read any further.

And when the Gamestop preorder was announced they realized what they actually bought and had buyers remorse. Suddenly access to two new powersets 5 months early wasn't what they wanted but since it was a pre-purchase and not a pre-order they couldn't cancel it.

What it boils down to is that some people can't accept that if a mistake was made, they were the ones that made it, not NCSoft.
More rubbish. A straw horse, that confirms to me you are more interested in belittling people than understanding what they are saying.
I also never said it was confusing - it must be easier to 'win points' when you put words into my mouth.

I'm not complaining about the free month or auras and what not. And never have complained about that. The difference between the complete edition and the prepurchase was clear.

Its not buyers remorse - lol - it's not having all the information presented.

Afterall, this has been bounced around in the discussion thread for it months ago.

In short, the fact that the phrase Nor are there any incentives for preording it means no incentives for preordering.

    This got changed.

This, most people in my experience would call deceptive.

Its not brain science, and it seems all people who claim otherwise can only present do is use insults and call fact rants, or post in total disacoiation to reallty claiming all the information was there from day one!

I dont understand how people within one post can say 'it was all clearly laid out' and in the same post then talk about how the gamestop was annoucned afterwards.

rule of thumb; the more formatting je saist uses the more chance there is they are wrong and lost in thier own world view rant mode. And if they dissappear from the thread, its even more likely.

But yes for three months there were no incentives for preordering over prepurchase, then then that changed. And a lot of people did make thier purchasing decision long before Gamestop/Razer ever entered the picture, on reading that thre was no incentives to preorder. Before there was.

Only the people that didn't read what they were buying and made assumptions not based on the facts provided were shocked.
Or the people who didn't think they would use intentional deceptive language in thier advertising it wasn't a clear cut case of being able to read it was a case of being able to read lawyer talk as it was something like 'there are no incentives to prepurchase ' and then they added the prepurchase bonuses.

Thats not really true that most aussies play on justice, but the australia channel is so justice focused but the ones who play on other servers give up on it. the Australia channel is less a global one than a justice chat channel imo, and they tend to be pretty derogative about people on other servers (freedumb is always the server of aebabies and spammers, virtue is said to be hawt ERP in the tutorial zone and beyound, and the others are all lolpopulation, you can find teams there?).

There is not real stats so anyone saying that there is more aussies on justice, really people saying that tend to be getting thier info from who is on the australia channel. I've meet many many aussies on virtue, but i dont really care where people are from, just like lots around for teamage.

The amount of people playing is nearly always higher on freedon/virtue than justice even during peak aussie times. Much more pick up group/task activity.

The channel regulars on the Australia/Antipodes will have near constant teaming and task/strike forces on during aussie peak times, and are really friendly for most part (except about other servers ).

The TOS as far as I can see covers "intent to verbally harm", not just "using bad words".

    --

To those that chose to send such reports, I'd advice a bit of caution. It wouldn't be unheard of so see the one who submitted the report ending up banned, for the reaction he had to the event in the first place, and possibly composing a very aggressive and foul-mouthed report to the mods. It's wise to keep in mind that submitting a report will inevitably end up with both sides being examined.

While I'm new on this particular game, I've seen other games where the mods end up banning both people, or even just the one submitting the report in the first place, and letting the "offender" go back to his game with an apology.

Generally... if someone says something that offends you - start by making sure it's actually intended to offend you. If it wasn't, you are probably over reacting, unless he's literally spouting profanities in Broadcast (and in that case he's probably 12yo and in desperate need of parenting). However if it is aimed at you: DON'T reply in the same way, or even close to it. You won't have to go far back in the thread here to see a language purist call players "lame idiots", not for cursing at them, or even for cursing in general, but for having an -opinion- about cursing. I don't even want to know what would happen if I actually called one of them a ******* ****.

If you couldn't resist, and answered by dishing it out as good as you got... avoid the report. Even if you didn't use profanity to do so, think carefully. It's not ok to ridicule, insult or belittle, even if you use clean language. Is this a report you are comfortable sending? The mods will see the logs and hey - mods believe in fighting fire with mods, not fighting fire with fire and then calling the mods to get rid of ONE arsonist. Y'know?

    Mac
That sounds like a passive/aggressive way of threatening people against reporting whatthey think are voliations of ToS. All those ifs, maybes, and perhaps about even if you didnt use swear words yourself the mods will still ban you etc.
It also shows a lot of ignorance on how the GMs work in this game in my experience.

I do doubt anyone would get banned for a few misplaced swearwords. Or for submiting whatthey think is a terms of service breach.

Repeated offenses/reports about your language, or directed personal/racial/sexist attacks would be different - RP or not. Like you've not allowed many names that are downright offensive (and no i dont mean the farter ) even if your concept of a villian is that they would use racial/sexist name x.

And as said, its really only going to be a problem in broadcast or global channels, so may want to double check which channel your are sending to if you are swearing up a sentence.
