Other way around. The graphic follows, but the intractable part invisibly stays where it was. Still broken, there attempt to fix it only broke it worse (The table wouldn't appear at all, but the power would be spent!)
[/ QUOTE ]
So you are saying the graphic IS supposed to follow you? How do you get it to move? The few times I tried, like I said, I ran off and watched it and it moved what be equivalent to 2 toon steps and then stopped. I guess if the clicky part stays where it is, you wouldn't want it move around and follow unless you knew the exact spot to click the invisible interaction hand thing. Thanks for the infos.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't believe it is supposed to follow. It's coded like a pet, but is meant to be stationary. There's a conflict somewhere. It will suddenly appear from where it was to next to wherever you are standing about every 10 seconds. -
[ QUOTE ]
Whereas exemplary villains would just get shafted cause we hate them.
[/ QUOTE ]
I KNEW it.
*points the accusing finger* -
[ QUOTE ]
It's not supposed to follow you. I know for a while there was a bug where the graphic you could see would stay still, but the clickable target (invisible) would follow you; don't know if they fixed that.

Sure I agree as I do everytime someone mentions it. The fact remians the players will mostly poo poo it and the devs have zero stated plans to add them.
Yeah sucks donkey balls.
[/ QUOTE ]
I recall BABs expressing interest in a staff set. Most likely quarterstaff, I'd bet. There is a LOT on the devs' plate though. Many, many things are put on the back burner. Still, I never expected Flashback or Weapon Customization to happen adn they have. It appears even power customization is coming along, and I'd long since abadoned hope of that happening. -
This has come up before. Adding another body type requires a new set of animations for EVERY power in the game, and then double that for Flight and double again that for any animation that is taken with shields. It's a staggering amount of work for a body type that isn't going to be used much.

Some reasult....Read it slowly....SOME results. Did you get it?
SOME results.
[/ QUOTE ]
I sense some anger...
[ QUOTE ]
Meaning not all. Meaning the ones that are not detrimental to the system. Ergo the "no dice" comment for trying to take my words out of context. I already posted my mistake yet you are fixed upon a now proven inaccurate statement.
[/ QUOTE ]
Fixed on it? My response was for what was posted at the time. I didn't see 'some'(it might have said so, I don't go back and reread old posts for corrections after I've already responded).
I wasn't using your words again you. I found it didn't make sense. I used a simile to show how it didn't. You gain short term results, but long term damage.

[ QUOTE ]
The point is, when an abuse occurs, there will always be someone to speak out.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why is talking about abuse? Farming does not = abuse. That is the point of my argument.
[/ QUOTE ]
Endless resetting a mission before it's completed is abusing the system. You're looking to save the day, but wait, I'll gonna reset time to get more practice out of it. Again and again and again. Farming is indeed abusing the system. Moving onto the next mission isn't.
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
What's incredible about all this is, I made a short post with my (frankly, rather dim) opinion of farms. It could easily been ignored. Since I have had to defend this opinion, from those threatens by it. My opinion can't force you to my view. Yet you discount and fight it. The best thing one could have done is ignored it. Your very conviction to discount my words only strengthens my own argument.
[/ QUOTE ]
You replied directly to my general post. Therefore I replied to you directly. If you wanted your statement to be general you should not have replied to me.
[/ QUOTE ]
One must reply to someone to post on a thread.
[ QUOTE ]
Outside of your direct responses to my posts I could care less about your opinion in general. My post was pointing out that people jump on the word Farm without understanding what it is.
[/ QUOTE ]
I know full well what it is. Play a mission almost to completion (or to completion and restarting for Architect), then reset and do again and again and again. Gaining as much benefit(XP, tickets, badges or what have you) from a single mission as possible.
[ QUOTE ]
So again I will ask you to define farming in such a way that it could not be used to describe the basic function of almost all MMOs.
[/ QUOTE ]
I believe you mean [i[grinding[/i] Enlessly hunting down monsters and such when the regular quests putter out to get to that next part of the game, or that one item you wanted. Grinding is tedious and gets boring quickly(my opinion).
In CoX, we have indoor missions that we can keep to ourselves or invite a team into. It's our own little plot of XP to grind away in. Our own plot of land to farm away on--thus farming. Once one has played it once, they go back and do it again and again. After a while one is no longer playing, they're just going through the motions hoping to get that one thing don't what to wait to get in the long term. More effort is put into the shortcut than playing the game as designed.
now, I don't understand when we get new content, and now a way to MAKE content, so many make farms instead of a well thought out story. (I mean, most farms don't even TRY to make a story or even names--asdasdr? Yes, I've seen asdasdr as a contact.) Now the farms are splayed throughout the architect content. I'm hard pressed to find something that isn't a farm. -
[ QUOTE ]
I meant some results. Thanks for trying to use my words against me but...well...no dice.
[/ QUOTE ]
No dice? Your analogy didn't hold up. "No dice" doesn't discount that. If a cause has a poor effect, one should not do it. It's common sense. My example was extreme, but still. If 'only the result are bad', why on Earth would you cause them to begin with?
[ QUOTE ]
The point is people need to get off their high horse and stop screaming every time somebody posts the word Farm. I means more than just what you think it does, and outside of your mind it is not that horrible of a thing
[/ QUOTE ]
The point is, when an abuse occurs, there will always be someone to speak out. I have not 'screamed'. I have not posted everywhere 'farm' is mentioned. I made a passing comment and have been bashed for it. My opinions come from 'inside my mind', but the devs working to stop farming is not 'inside my mind'. It's very outside my mind. I am not alone in my opinion.
Outside your mind, there are those of us that think farms are the worst part of the game. The were never meant to happen. They are a shortcut, and they lead to unfortunate consequences (skewing of the market, elimination of badges, banning of story arcs). Just because they do happen doesn't justify them.
Your very conviction to discount my words only strengthens my own arguement.
You can mock me. I still won't be wrong. because it's an opinion. They are neither right nor wrong. -

Defenders aren't doing much better.
[/ QUOTE ]
Indeed. Vigilance? Useless when you run solo. Not much better on a team either. You only get a endurance discount when you are filing to keep your team alive.
As for Gauntlet, is seems only to be a label for the tanks' taunt aspect in their secondary set. Pool power attacks don't taunt at all. -

first is a blaster ar/dev/munitions
second a corruptor ar/trap/mace
third a SoA(bane)
[/ QUOTE ]
I find the Epic AT's restrictive as their concept is baked in--SoA are always Natural Origin.
Both the Blaster and Corruptor fit better origin-wise and can make for better background flexibility. As for which? depends if you what a good guy or bad guy really. -
[ QUOTE ]
Don't get me wrong, Id really get a laugh out of the idea of making a male thermal corruptor called... I don't know, maybe Prescilla, or something, and changing the colors of his secondary set to pink and... well maybe a slightly different pink... and then throwing pink flamey mockery on some of the player base.
But I won't. There are a lot of reasons for this, but the bottom line is, it's going to be more destructive in the long run, and while it might be funny, I don't really feel I have the right to damage other people's hard one recreation time.
But with I16, it looks a lot like someone COULD do this.
Pink flames, black force fields, blinding white sonic armor? Irritating people, damaging their game experience or causing eye injuries (ok maybe that's a bit over the top)
Some people will make a carrear out of griefing those in zones with things like that.
Let us select and remove granted buffs in the buff bar, and the problem will be substantially solved. Putting a timer on re-granting a buff thats been removed will solve even more of it.
[/ QUOTE ]
This BAB's post some time ago about this:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat....ue#Post10351446
Your power effect can be tinted, but not the effect when it hits another character. Throw a green fireball, the target will burn the standard red fire.
Beyond that, for all we know from Positron's pics--it's Pet colorization--not Power customization. My Guess: we can color our effects, but not the effects onto others. -
[ QUOTE ]
anti-farming people need to take a step back and stop flying off the handle any time uses the word "Farm".
Farms are not bad. I farm RWZ on my Fire/SS when I have nothing to do. Yes, I run beck and fourth killing Rikti over and over...O...M.....G!!!!
Farmin is not bad. It is the results of farming that can cause problems. Power leveling to eBay characters, RMT, and that type of stuff. The solution is not to stop farming however, it is to stop these unwanted results.
[/ QUOTE ]
I presented my reasons. Farming was never something the devs meant to happen. They've done what they can to stop it, and it means they must spend time on that instead of expanding on the game.
I can't figure how you mean "only the results are bad". It's like saying jumping of a cliff isn't bad, it's only the resulting impact that's bad. If the results are bad, you don't do it. -

[/ QUOTE ]
Oh, I understood it. It was a comment to incite me because he didn't like my opinion of farming. Otherwise his comment made no sense: Why would he infere that MMO's were a waste of time if he played the game and posted on the forums?
I should have expected the insults. When I originally posted I wasn't in a great mood, and really didn't make a proper arguement. I looked like a forum troll.
For that I apologize.
I must spend more time on my posts.
I do not like farming, it's just going through the motions without actually appreciating the story. Those that did so really didn't affect my gameplay much, until Mission Architect. It was full of so many farms devoid of any story and made only to gain the most xp/tickets/badges. I really have to think: is THIS the player community at large? Am I to expect that we just want the biggest baddest pile of data in the game? Or make a original, throughout character with a rich story and one shaped by his/her experiences against those that would make their lives of the exploitation of others?
The gameplay is building your character and actually working one's way up to Protector of the City. Truly experiencing the road to a true Hero (or master villain, redside).
The devs are spending time to undo the damage to the system they works so hard for, delaying newer stuff coming down the pipe. Further, do we really don't care about any of the actually content coming, or do you want to grind away again and again against Dreck, Werewolves or whatever the newest farm fest of the month is? -

Not everyone has the same definition when it comes to playing game. Shocking isn't it?
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm guessing from the snarky answer, you think farming is highly entertaining?
With the advent of Mission Architect, we have the opportunity to add a staggering amount of content to play. Far too often, it's used to farm, It's not playing an engaging plot. It abusing the system. Farming isn't playing, it's abusing the system. One isn't playing the game, they're playing with themselves. -

I don't understand why you need the Fighting Pool as a tanker. My WP/DB tanker was defeated only 3 times leveling from 1st to 50th without Tough or Weave.

To gain access you must do one of the Patron's Arcs first. First, find Arbiter Rein in Grandville. He'll lead you to a Patron.

It'll work with just the slotted enhances, but I wouldn't recommend this. You need 4 enhances for the -kb bonus. If you're muling 4 enhances and expending 3 slots for some kb points, that's just not worth it. I would highly recommend just spending the 25-35M for a Zephyr -kb and stick it in a travel power.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've slotted for the Kb protection, but only because the power I was slotting was going to have 4+ slots anyway. Also, at the time I couldn't afford a KB prot IO. -

If you stack rage (which you can do with 3 SOs and quickness), you won't have to worry about the defense penalty of rage. If you are planning on hasten, with SR you have three click powers you're going to have to monitor - that's the only reason I never rolled a SS/SR.
[/ QUOTE ]
So having perma-Rage removes the crash associated with it? Or did you just mean that the Damage compensates? sorry if its a noob question, i've never tried any 'perma' builds before.

No, it doesn't. I'm not sure what he(or she) is talking about.
