New Brute player, SS/Something advice?
Default answer is always WP.

I'm going to roll a Brute this coming week and was looking for some advice. I decided on SS as a primary, but can't pick a secondary. I'm waffling back and forth between Inv, WP, and SR for, and wanted to know how the three would mesh with SS. Also, when I'm opening my travel pool (likely Leaping) should I take the attack for fury purposes, or the movement ability?

SR doesn't work great with Rage, as it puts a 10-15 sec penalty to all defense when it ends.
Invulnerability is always a favorite, though one really needs to take every power in the set to shine. If you do go Inv, take the toggles first, they grant more resistance than auto powers. it should be noted, Inv grants NO Psi resist at all.
Willpower is an amazing set. It's low on the agro scale, but great as it grants protection from all kind of damage.
For the Travel Prerequisite, depends on the pool. Leaping, I take Combat Jumping for maneuverability in combat. Flight, I take Air Superiority as Hover doesn't mesh well with Melee sets. Speed, I take Hasten. Flurry is a rather weak attack--Hasten buffs the recharge of ALL your attacks/powers. Teleport? well, I just don't take it much.
The plastic tips at the end of shoelaces are called aglets. Their true purpose is sinister.

If you stack rage (which you can do with 3 SOs and quickness), you won't have to worry about the defense penalty of rage. If you are planning on hasten, with SR you have three click powers you're going to have to monitor - that's the only reason I never rolled a SS/SR.
it's difficult to justify taking invuln red side. i mean at least tankers can cap smash/lethal with tough. we cannot. around 70% if i recall
willpower can hit 50% smash/lethal and have the insane regen that invuln does not. it can also achieve the same levels of defense that invuln can with io sets albeit without the 50% defense debuff resistance invuln has.
outside of concept it's hard to justify taking invuln over wp redside now especially when one considers how willpower scales as soon as you add sonic or thermal shields. yes you can add that to an invuln brute - but you still dont have that 60-100+ hp/s regen

So having perma-Rage removes the crash associated with it? Or did you just mean that the Damage compensates? sorry if its a noob question, i've never tried any 'perma' builds before.

No, it doesn't. I'm not sure what he(or she) is talking about.

Reading comprehension skills are lacking... the defense penalty is negated with stacking rage, as was originally stated.
