But it is up to us to make it work. Not Beasty, not Zwilly, not Posi nor War Witch nor anybody else. It is up to us.
We, the superheroes of Paragon City, are what will make this work. And I don't mean we as in me and you and every other you reading this. I mean we as a community.
People come to this game to be superheroes, but they stay for the community. These new Freepers or Freeks or whatever you want to call them are going to come here to get in some tights and knock some people around. They'll have a blast, we know they will, because this game is fun. At the end of the day, though, you can only bust so many skulls by yourself. They're going to look for more reason to stay.
And they will find it in our community! But only if you show them. Stay on your home server and engage as many of these freeks as you can. Take them on high level teams, show them what characters are capable of, what fun can be had spending time with friends. Lead them on low level TFs, show them the joys of supersidekicking and never leaving friends behind because you're too high level. Show them that you don't need to exclude a friend because you never need a tank or a healer or a DPSer or anything else for that last spot. That they only need superheroes. Or supervillains. Or super rogues and vigilantes and praetorians and aliens and angels and demons and even catgirls. Let them know that you just need to be with friends and you can accomplish anything.
Show them these things, and they'll fall in love with this community just like you did. Just like I did. The game will be able to grow and prosper, which leads to more development resources, which leads to a better game experience for all of us.
I ask you just one more thing before I end this post.
Hold me to the same. -
Quote:You seem are ignorant of economics, so I don't expect you to understand this, but I'll try anyway: Price caps will drive prices up.On the other side of this coin, just cap the market price on rare/purple/pvp IO's. There's two ways to drive them right out of business and return that revenue back to the ppl that matter. That's just an opinion, but a fair one.
There already is a price cap. It's 2 billion influence on the market. The PvP +3% defense IO already sells for over this cap. I have personally sold one for 2.5 billion. If you price cap things at 1 billion or 100 million on the market, they just sell off market and become harder to find.
Supply and demand are what sets a price point. It's bloody difficult to set an artificial one. Especially a price cap. -
These are indeed procs, and they still work for 120 seconds after activation. For instance, you can put them in a heal other or heal aura power, and for 120 seconds after you heal you will benefit from the regen and recovery boosts.
If you put them in a toggle, however, they stop working as soon as the toggle is turned off. -

Quote:Actually, it is better than vigilance. Vigilance (while solo) grants +30% bonus damage, which only increases base damage of attacks. Bruising is -20% resist, which adds 20% to your total damage. Thanks to enhancements, bruising essentially does more for you.So, yes, it does help a tank solo. Not quite as good as vigilance for a solo'er, but still helpful.
Expressed mathematically for an attack that does 100 base damage:
Total Vigilance damage = 100 + 100*.95 + 100*.30 = 225
Total Bruising damage = (100 + 100*.95) * 1.20 = 234 -

For all the talk about purpled out warshades, they can be incredible on SOs alone, and amazingly better with just a modest budget.
For more information, I suggest you read my guide, The MFing Warshade. There's a link in my signature, and it goes into great detail for slotting by budget, from SOs up. -
Dechs Kaison - my bots/traps and projection of myself were I a 1917 mobster turned immortal robotic genius after a stint of research under the Nazi regime.
Defying the Curse - My MFing Warshade. Nothing else needs be said. -
You know what? I think I'd be ok with this.
Personally, I wouldn't buy any recipes. I don't see a way this system's inclusion could harm my game experience. We all work together in this game, so if it's easier for my teammates to have the inventions I have, then we'll just get stuff done faster.
I could see how including this system could benefit me. Including a system like this will only serve to drive influence prices on goods down, as less people will be farming for their inf to buy these recipes, generating less inf in the system. Less people will be buying them off the market as well.
Another thing it would do is put influence sellers out of business. Why buy the influence if you could just buy the recipe you want?
What would be extraordinarily bad is if you could buy straight influence. -
I wouldn't delete anything unless
a) You need space on that server for a new alt you want to play and can't play that alt idea on a different server.
b) You want to reroll the concept of a character as different AT or powersets.
c) You absolutely abhor how the character plays.
I've never used A. I've used B, but only because it was a Peacebringer that overlapped with condition C. Many, many stalkers have fallen to C. -
Bruising is attached to your tier one attack. If the attack hits, the enemy will be affected by a -20% resistance debuff. It does not stack with itself. It does not stack with other tankers. It will stack with any other source of -resistance. The -20% ignores the purple patch, but does not bypass enemy resistance.

Quote:Carni,*wanders in*
So what did Dechs recommend then? Something unexpected, I'd wager?
Can I call you Carni?
How 'bout just Fax then?
Ok. So Faxy, here's the deal: The way I see it, a Warshade is just so much fun, that it'd be a crime not to recommend it. I'd have to turn myself in and everything. They'd lock me up and throw away the key.
And there'd be torture.
You wouldn't want to put me through that, would you? -
Quote:My favorite character is far and away my MFing Warshade. The learning experience, the leveling, the level 50 play, the incarnate play... all of it was and is absolutely phenomenal. One of the biggest reasons is that every new power seemed to revolutionize the way I play. The closest thing I can compare this to is how most controller get a pet at level 32. At that point, everything changes. You're able to do things you never could before. But this happens with a warshade for almost every new power! Beyond that even, there were so many times where I thought "If I only had a few more slots!"What toons do you have that have that Wow Factor? Meaning.....what toons were you pleasantly surprised about their performance and/or were more fun than expected? Perhaps even a toon that is so much fun and/or badazz that your other alts rarely get time off the shelf. I understand your fun may be different than mine....but I'd like to hear about yours.
I am in search of the my next "Wow!"
I had so much fun playing that warshade that I wrote a guide for it. Hell, the guide practically wrote itself. For additional enticement, read this:
Quote:Originally Posted by MFing WarshadeAt its height, The MFing Warshade will have 300% damage bonus, 85% resist all, well over 50% tohit bonus, three damage dealing pets in tow, a ranged AoE attack chain, and the ability to refill both bars more often than I blink. It can also perma stun ten targets, perma hold one, and even stun bosses in a single shot. It has mez protection with an 80% hitpoints bonus on demand. It can even shrug off defeat twice every five minutes. -
Quote:But as a subscribed customer, you would never pay for new zones or powersets. Only new costume packs like you do now. So your 400/month can go to just costumes.im still confused about this whole thing...
Basically if i continue paying my subscription then i keep everything i have, thats the incentive right?
Meanwhile i earn points to redeem new content in i21 and going forward? As a paying player i shouldnt have to redeem any new content going forward.
As with this F2P business model, i can already see it:
VIP: 800 points earned.
new Costume Pack: 1000 points.
new Zone: 5000
new powerset 2000
"DARN!"
NcSoft: You can buy 1000 points for an extra $10!
Me: But im already subscribed!!! -

I've got an independently developed survivability analysis tool myself. Numerous others do as well. I've seen the math, I've done the math, and I don't feel like doing it again just for you. If you want to find the threads you can go search for them.
You keep harping on this. Everything is kept in proportion thanks to modifiers, of which scrappers and brutes share most of them.
Quote:which even admits it works with a "situation always optimal" viewpoint, not taking into account things such as accuracy/recharge debuffs, or situations where Dark Regen fails to work properly.
Second, Dark Armor was demonstrably more survivable by a clear margin. Maybe not all situations were taken into account, but I have my doubts that including everything could somehow eliminate that margin, let alone reverse it. I welcome you to try, of course.
Quote:(Let's not forget the lack of innate KB protection, and the fact you can't DR when you're flying through the air, on your back, and kicking back up.)
Quote:Arcanaville's post is brilliant and does provide some great insights into comparing Scrapper secondaries, but it gets a little tiresome seeing it thumped as WoG Dark Armor is GREAT when even later in said guide, Arcana admits it's not a true simulation of all play factors. -
Quote:Holy mother of -- THIS. Especially THIS.I think DA is fine with mostly SOs, if you get cardiac at least. But thats compared to other stuff with mostly SOs...none of which ever meets my performance standards in the first place.
I never thought I could agree with someone more.
In fact, we've pretty much proven though mathematical analysis (as long as you use Dark Regen at the right time and don't run yourself out of endurance) that Dark Armor is superior in SO survival to at least Invuln, and Fire. I'm fair certain it beats regen and willpower as well.
And that's before accounting for the control auras.
And before accounting for the fact that they have to kill you twice. -
Quote:If you have that many purples, you shouldn't need the break frees. Combine the insps you don't need into the ones you do.Apparently some people have 20-30 more inspiration slots than those of us limited to the normal 4X5.
Quote:No, really, on an even level mission solo vs Arachnos, I get held every single spawn. Sometimes it takes me long enough to kill everything that I can get held again after eating a break free.
Quote:I'm not saying they should be. I only responded to the guy who said that all characters at 50 should be independent. That's a tall order when certain powersets were clearly not created with that in mind. You, you might be able to pull it off by going villain (for the shield) and spending a couple of billion inf, but it's not something that should be expected of every level 50. -
I'm totally expecting a Fulcrum Shift clone, but with -recharge/+recharge.
WHICH WOULD BE AWESOME. -

Quote:I had not thought of this, I will edit the initial post. Thank you.If you want to continue posting to the forum... then you need to be VIP.
Since a lot happens on the forum, I expect a lot of current RPers will remain VIPs.
Quote:I've not thought about the announcement enough to say anything more at this stage, and I'd hate to say something... overly emotional.
I still feel uneasy. It's a change, and a major one. Makes me skittish. -
http://www.cityofheroes.com/news/fre..._overview.html
I'd like to start a discussion thread dedicated to what will likely happen to how and specifically where we RP.
They will be creating a new server just for VIP players (those paying a subscription)
Will we be moving most of our characters to the VIP server to avoid the free to play crowd that usually comes to a game?
Will we remain on Virtue/Union or wherever we are?
How many of us will stop paying subscription?
Do the subscription benefits have significant value to primarily RP players?
Forums will be read only for anyone not a VIP. This will likely affect anyone who does planning here on the forums.
As for myself, I intend to stay on Virtue and I intend to continue to pay my subscription. I have supergroups and bases on Virtue that are important to my characters. I do not want to rebuild what I have done on a new server. If my supergroup and its base can move, then we'll talk about moving.
