Just read the whole Freedom thing. I'm most curious at how the Time Manipulation power set will work. Conceptually I can't see how something like that would work with CoX. Time Manipulation but no Eskrima or no defensive set with a aura? Blah...

I am not sure how I feel about this, it could be a good thing or a bad thing, I don't know. This game has been around for 7 years so maybe it has enough oompfh to get by, I don't know, let's hope that this f2p doesn't kill the game.

I liked my CoH without the taint of F2P. Considering what trial accounts gets, there's no way in hell I'm doing the non-VIP route. I'll just unsub, go play something else, and then sub when I want to play again. Changing the name of the game makes no sense whatsoever to me.

Just like Cryptics game, that game based on the dic rolling pen and paper system and that game with the likeable young men with the hairy feet.
From what I understand all three of those are doing very well, money wise. I don't know about comunity wise as I don't play them.

So far the only thing I'll probably detest about the F2P system add-on is the chance that there will be a group of F2P players who feel that they should be entitled to the VIP content at no charge and play that tune ad nausem.

That does not quite sound like death to me.
What is very likely death though is to stay with a model that effectively puts a road block in place to get new players hooked to the game when "everyone else" opens up their virtual worlds more to new and returning players.
And there are a lot more potential new and returning players out there than there are active and/or paying subscribers.

Basically if i continue paying my subscription then i keep everything i have, thats the incentive right?
Meanwhile i earn points to redeem new content in i21 and going forward? As a paying player i shouldnt have to redeem any new content going forward.
As with this F2P business model, i can already see it:
VIP: 800 points earned.
new Costume Pack: 1000 points.
new Zone: 5000
new powerset 2000
"DARN!"
NcSoft: You can buy 1000 points for an extra $10!
