I disagree. Mercs are demonstrably worse off than the other henchmen sets. Mercs lack the survivability of other sets (defense shields, -tohit debuffs, controls and heals; stacked leaderships; resist shields, contros and heals), they don't get a compensatory amount of damage (in fact, it's easily arguable that they do far less than others), and they get Serum.

None of this is saying that mercs are bad, mind you. They certainly are the bottom of the barrel, but let's face it, they're still henchmen and played right are capable of amazing things.

Black Dwarf costs 0.26 end/sec. I can't remember what your figures were, but assuming ED capped end reduction saves you half that, or 0.13 end/sec.

The Performance Shifter Proc has a 20% chance to grant 10 endurance every 10 seconds in a toggle. This works out to an average gain of 0.2 end/sec.

I'm certain that it's not worth it in Grav Emanation. You might use Detonation enough to get some use out of it, but keep in mind that recharge is subject to diminishing returns. You already have a ton of recharge in the build, I doubt you'd notice the extra, even if it were semi-reliable.
  4. In one of the many incarnations that didn't stick of "Abrakaboom" (the world's greatest stage magician that no one seems to recognize), he was a fire/elec blaster with a full rainbow of powers.

    Fireball was pink and yellow.

    Breath was blue/green.

    Rain was turquoise/purple.

    etc.
  5. Recharge is subject to diminishing returns thanks to where it is in the formula (denominator). If you're expecting it to counter the -recharge of granite, it doesn't work like that. It's like putting an extra SO in each of your attacks. Granted, a tiny bit isn't affected by ED, but if you're already at the ED cap, it's mostly a waste.

The alpha slot is most beneficial when you pick an attribute that you don't have slotted to the ED cap already. When you get to the very rare, most of the slot does ignore ED, but again with recharge, that's getting put in the denominator of a formula.

No, this was a great undertaking by Joe. All I did was give him a spreadsheet that did half of what he needed. Joe put some serious effort into this project, and deserves all the credit for these results.

    I'm confused...

If you put all four pet aura IOs in tornado, how did you fit enough recharge and knockback enhancement to make it useful?

You found a way to ten slot a power, didn't you?
  10. Will you enjoy having an army of people follow you around and shoot at things for you?

If yes, then no, you won't regret it.

Bronze is right. Although it may be the worst of the available sets, at the end of the day, you're still a mastermind. Teams are little more than extra pets that don't follow orders, but let you start task forces.
  11. I'd like to echo everything that Claws said, including the part about the build having some flaws if you need hibernate more than once every 90 seconds.

But I'd also like to respond to something specific that "misspelled 'I know' in French" said.

The in game Dechs, on the other hand, frequents the place. He's an avid people watcher, and the ready supply of Rusty Nails makes sure every trip is worth it.

My warshade also likes going there, but mostly because the music drowns out that damned voice in his head.

Oh, right. We were all joking. Nothing to see here, move along.

  14. I won't get a character to 50 if I don't absolutely love playing him, with one exception. My very first character (kin/nrg defender "Kinetic Tut") became a grind at level 40 back in i3-ish and I wanted a bloody warshade. I got him to 50, rolled my 'shade and deleted the 'fender.

I delete a lot of characters in the 40s. Mostly to reroll the concept of the character as something more effective. My peacebringer, for example, was so terribly outperformed by everyone around him at level 44 that I rerolled as a rad/nrg blaster, powers colored to be peacebringer blue/white.
  15. Changed slotting:

Black Dwarf - More Resistance, less end reduction, but I made up for it with the +end proc (it adds more endurance recovery than taking away end reduction lost)
Dark Extraction - Changed some enhancements to get what I feel are better enhancement values.

I really hate to see Sunless Mire as a level 44 pick. Do you really use Grant Invisibility more at a low level than you would Sunless Mire? I'd suggest swapping the placement of those two.

I feel you'd get a lot out of the Cardiac Alpha branch, since pretty much nothing of yours has endurance reduction and none of your resistance powers are at the ED cap already. I doubt you're gasping for breath with this build, but the Cardiac would make sure you never even think about it.

  17. Black, gratz on the level 50 ding with your warshade. I hope you've enjoyed the ride so far (it only gets better). Now you just have casually purple it out.

I'm always glad to hear my guide helped someone out. Thanks for that.

I'm at work right now, so I'll give you a better analysis later. For now just let me say that your build is quite possibly the prettiest block of hex code I've seen in a long time.

I will try my best to find time to look at this tonight and let you know if there's anything I can improve. Unfortunately for you, I have just this past weekend obtained a PS3 and an enthralling game which I cannot name on these forums. Suffice to say it deals with the Origins of an Age containing Dragons.

Right now I have the Winter's Gift unique slotted somewhere, but I'm not sure it helps. Usually, if slows are enough to cripple you, they're enough to cripple you even if they're resisted by 20%.

The other option I'm aware of is Hasten. Most people just take hasten and put it on auto, but that requires a build to be able to sustain that endurance crash and the heightened use of endurance heavy powers. I have considered taking it on my tank (if I can decide what to drop) to be able to use it as a panic button or a "make 70% worth of -recharge go away" button.
  20. I made a Rad/NRG blaster and was able to color the powers to look peacebringer blasts.

You think you can simply say "Wrong" and that be that? How about some evidence to back up your theory?

Say, perhaps the fact that MMs were designed without bodyguard mode.

Or maybe that none of their attacks carry any value of taunt.

I'm sorry, but you're the wrong one here. There are no "tanks" of redside. Make all the hollow comparisons to blueside ATs you want, but redside was designed around sharing aggro.

I know what people mean when they say that but in this game, soloing with inspirations isn't really soloing.

So please, with all due respect, don't say that you can Tank LR solo....with inspirations.
I know it's true to the letter but in spirit, in this game....it isn't.
First, inspirations are not limitless. If it takes you four purples and eight oranges to cap defense/resist, and four greens for the hits that get through to be able to tank him, you'll last sixty seconds.

A blaster can and has tanked Recluse long enough for the towers to fall. I'm aware of several successful all blaster MoSTFs. If you can survive him with inspirations long enough, then that's bloody solo tanking Recluse. And it's damned impressive no matter how you look at it.

But fine. Let's follow your logic. If you can't solo tank him without inspirations (tools the game has given you to accomplish a task), you can't really solo him. Same goes for Accolade powers like Eye of the Magus. Those aren't really your character doing anything. You know, come to think of it, set bonuses aren't really your character either. So unless you can solo tank him on SOs alone, then you can't really solo tank Recluse. In fact, why should you need enhanced powers at all. To truly solo tank Recluse, you should be able to do it on your powers alone, unenhanced.

Obviously I'm stretching this to make a bloody point. These are all tools of the game available to your character. My tank needs one large purple inspiration active until the blue tower is down, which on a good team means I need one large purple inspiration.

I can solo tank Lord Recluse, thank you very much.

His towers are nothing more than huge inspirations that don't expire. I don't think it's fair to say we're cheating to use our own.

My Dark Armor tank can do this all by his lonesome. I have met many tanks that can. Takes a few inspirations, but you don't need an empath.

    And there are no healers.

Maybe it's significant, maybe it's not. But there seem to be far fewer people who play a Triform build speaking up about the downsides of the PB.

I've already made my opinion on the subject known so I wont repeat that here but I thought it was an interesting enough observation to mention.
That's really odd, because of the two, the PB is the one that should go human form. Aside from Essence Boost, its self buffs are either wasted in the form shift or lock you out of forms entirely.

We've got the numbers now, and taking all forms into account, the WS pulls ahead in all categories.
