Warshade Critique and a Couple Bind Questions

Black_Aftermath

Hey everyone,

With double XP weekend, I finally got my Warshade to DING 50, and I'm now looking at putting together a final build. I'm hoping to be able to run +4/x8 in the PI Farms, but this is mostly a TF/general content toon. I've read and taken a lot of advice from DK's Guide, so take a look and tell me what you think. Still looking for advice before I blow a respec.

Also two quick bind questions:

1) Is there a bind to auto-combine inspirations into blues and BF's? (obviously this would be two seperate binds)

2) Is there a way to craft a bind so that in a single key stroke I could summon the closest defeated body and activate Unchained? (Preferably without using an auto_toggle command)

More qualified eyes than mine will be able to give you specifics about your build, but if I get some time I'll have a look. Meantime, I CAN help with the binds.

/bind [key] "powexec_name unchain essence$$target_custom_next enemy defeated"

Remember the game engine reads binds right to left, so keep the target portion to the right of the unchain essence portion.

Thanks Joe. What is the [key] if I want to use the "6" from the number row? Num6?

Black, gratz on the level 50 ding with your warshade. I hope you've enjoyed the ride so far (it only gets better). Now you just have casually purple it out.

I'm always glad to hear my guide helped someone out. Thanks for that.

I'm at work right now, so I'll give you a better analysis later. For now just let me say that your build is quite possibly the prettiest block of hex code I've seen in a long time.

I will try my best to find time to look at this tonight and let you know if there's anything I can improve. Unfortunately for you, I have just this past weekend obtained a PS3 and an enthralling game which I cannot name on these forums. Suffice to say it deals with the Origins of an Age containing Dragons.

Hey DK, looking forward to your critique. AoO is a great game by the way, but if you haven't pick up the same companies smash hit that takes place in space.

Anyway, if you are like me and have tons of free time at work and want to look this over, here is the none hex code version:

Side Note: Been considering how beneficial it might be to remove two slots from health and add one to each of GE and Nova Det. to add Forced Feedback chance for +Rech to each. Seems like that would add a good little chunk to my global recharge. Thoughts?

Just "6" should suffice. If you're wanting to use the number row keys for binds and your numpad keys for power tray powers, and IF this bind interferes with that (I don't think it would, but I can't be sure; I'm a laptop driver), then also use this bind:

/bind numpad6 powexec_slot 6

hope that helps!

Changed slotting:

Black Dwarf - More Resistance, less end reduction, but I made up for it with the +end proc (it adds more endurance recovery than taking away end reduction lost)
Dark Extraction - Changed some enhancements to get what I feel are better enhancement values.

I really hate to see Sunless Mire as a level 44 pick. Do you really use Grant Invisibility more at a low level than you would Sunless Mire? I'd suggest swapping the placement of those two.

I feel you'd get a lot out of the Cardiac Alpha branch, since pretty much nothing of yours has endurance reduction and none of your resistance powers are at the ED cap already. I doubt you're gasping for breath with this build, but the Cardiac would make sure you never even think about it.

Hey Dechs,

Thanks for the pointers. I completely spaced the placement of Mire/Grant Invis.

I like the figures you get out of Dark Extraction and Dwarf is probably a bit better than my slotting. I didn't realize that the PS proc would make up for the much endredux. I'll give it a shot.

I didn't think to mention in my original post, but I am indeed planning on Cardiac Alpha slotting this build.

Also, what do you think about the Forced Feedback slot in Grav. Emanation, and Dark Nova Det.? Would the added recharge from those proc's be worth stealing slots from Health or Ebon Eye?

Black Dwarf costs 0.26 end/sec. I can't remember what your figures were, but assuming ED capped end reduction saves you half that, or 0.13 end/sec.

The Performance Shifter Proc has a 20% chance to grant 10 endurance every 10 seconds in a toggle. This works out to an average gain of 0.2 end/sec.

I'm certain that it's not worth it in Grav Emanation. You might use Detonation enough to get some use out of it, but keep in mind that recharge is subject to diminishing returns. You already have a ton of recharge in the build, I doubt you'd notice the extra, even if it were semi-reliable.

The Forced Feedback proc is only semi-decent if you have Max Target's most of the time for you AoE. I have two of them slotted in my Willpower/Stone Melee Tanker. It's nice when they do fire, but it's not something that I can count on. And I've never seem them stack.

Depends ...

I did this with my Tri-Form Warshade and Quad-Form Peacebringer builds using Common Core Powers and Slotting where I slotted Gravitic Emanation for Force Feedback (all 6 slots) on my Warshade ... and just the Proc on the Human Form and Nova Form Target AoE attacks and the White Dwarf Flare on my Peacebringer. And I managed to work out a relatively simple formula to tell me if doing that was "worth it" or not.

The simple answer is that if you can manage to proc Force Feedback at least once per minute it's going to be "worth" approximately +7.5% Recharge (ie. the same as Kinetic Combat 6 slot bonus) over an infinite period of time. The exact number is actually 1 proc per 66.67 seconds = +7.5% Recharge over infinite time. The simple fact is that if you can get it to proc twice per minute (outside of suppression, for a total of 10 seconds) every 60 seconds, you're doing very well on making use of Force Feedback's proc. Getting it to proc once per minute should be your "benchmark" of expectation though in terms of "ought to be reliable" performance against hordes of mobs.

Mind you, that "once per minute rule" of thumb applies regardless of how much Global Recharge the build has.

Now ...

The real question then becomes ... will you be using the powers you slot Force Feedback into often enough to make an expectation of being able to proc Force Feedback at least once per minute a realistic expectation? This isn't as simple a question as it sounds. With Gravitic Emanation, which has a long recharge time, this is no academic question ... but it's also one of the few human form attack powers a Warshade has which can slot Force Feedback at all. You also need to think about how you would use Gravitic Emanation in combat, in terms of positioning and timing (so as to not annoy your teammates, if any, with the KB of this power). Things like using Gravitic Emanation as an Alpha Strike move to "pre-herd" targets and make your Tank's life easier will probably work well. Things like putting Gravitic Emanation on Autofire will not.

The way I figure it, if you're using Gravitic Emanation 3+ times per minute ... which is easily possible on high recharge builds ... you ought to be able to proc Force Feedback at least once per minute ... meaning you'll be getting "value" out of slotting it. If not ... you might want to reconsider.

For Nova and Dwarf AoE attacks, it really comes down to a question of slot crunch, and do you have the slots to spare. Nova, in a high global recharge build, doesn't really "need" a Force Feedback proc for its own sake ... although slotting one will help Hasten (and Light Form for Peacebringers, Eclipse for Warshades) recharge faster while in Nova Form. For Warshade Dwarfs, you can only slot Force Feedback into the melee attacks, and the only "real" benefit there is to get your Black Dwarf Mire and Black Dwarf Drain to recharge even faster, but due to the randomness of the Force Feedback proc it's hard to adjust your attack chain pattern to take advantage of the proc.

I think that Peacebringers actually gain more advantage out of Force Feedback procs for structural reasons that have to do with the preponderance of longer recharge time Click powers that Peacebringers have to deal with ... such as Pulsar, Flare (human and dwarf), Light Form, and the human/dwarf Self Heal powers. It also helps White Dwarf Form more because of how the attack chain of White Dwarf has one less attack power versus Black Dwarf (Sublimation vs Mire) and thus derives more "benefit" from recharge acceleration through Force Feedback in Dwarf Form to increase Self Heal performance, improving survivability.

It's the end. But the moment has been prepared for ...

Performance Shifter chance for +end is not 20% chance to recover 10 endurance. It's 20% chance to recover 10% of character's max endurance.
So if you have +endurance global set bonuses that, say, bring you to 114 end when the bar is full, Performance Shifter will give you 11.4 endurance when it procs.

Follow up to my bind question that was answered by smiling Joe. The following bind:

/bind [key] "powexec_name unchain essence$$target_custom_nearest enemy defeated"

seems to be functioning kind crazy. First click (using "6") target a defeated enemy. The second click does one of two things:

1) sometimes targets the next defeated enemy

2) sometimes targets the next defeated enemy while firing unchained essence at the same time.

IF there is only 1 defeated enemy (which is rare) I can just double click "6" at it will target then fire.

Is there another bind I could try? I would like to find one that targets the NEAREST defeated enemy and fires Unchained Essence at the SAME TIME.

Not sure if this is possible, but it would be ideal.

That keybind has always been wonky. I taken to the tactic of hitting Dark Extraction in order to target a dead foe. It will target regardless of whether it's recharging or not.

Hmm, so there really isn't a better bind than that? Well that's a shame.

Guess I'll have to figure out what works best for me then.

Just thought I would give an update to my question about Unchained.

Fuzun's advice to use Dark Extraction to set the target for Unchained Essence was pretty much perfect. Hitting Dark Extraction the first time only targets the nearest(?) defeated enemy (unless you are already targeting a defeated, which in that case it will summon you fluff ball) allowing you to Unchain them.

This is, to my knowledge, not true. It sometimes appears true due to the fact that the last power in the chain is the one that fires first but that's due to each power being activated quickly, one after the other, and being interrupted by the next. The last one gets used because it has nothing to interrupt it.

What's happening is the bind tries to us the power but has no no target so it doesn't go off, then it picks a target. On the second press it uses the power, which now can fire because you selected a target on the previous use, then selects a target again. Try switching the order of the bind.
