Okay, I've already sent off an e-mail to support@coh.com, but want to ask this here. I finally installed Rogers Online Protection software, after it seems that the latest ZoneAlarm update disabled it entirely.
I can access all the way to the login, and then the server listing. However, after that, any server I try to log to I get "Can't connect to DBserver". I've checked, and all programs associated with COH have full access under the protection software.
Who else has experienced this problem, and how was it solved? -
Only work this weekend on Champion was getting a couple of my rarely touched villian alts up from lvl 4 to 6. I have a lot more like that - on a number of servers - but didn't get as much time online as I would have liked.
I did get my PB from 12 to 21, and a psy/MM blaster that I'm having fun with from 13 to 20, but that was about it. -
Got my lone Peacebringer from 12 to 21 in about 2 hours last night - even with all the mapserver problems we were getting. Only other note was my psy/MM blaster over on Triumph got up to 20 from13. That and a couple of toons I haven't touched in months - save for switching around day-job sites - redside are now up to 6 from 4. (I was hoping to get a lot more of my slew of lvl 4 villians up there, but didn't get as much time as I would have liked to this weekend.)
-
Only have one toon here on Triumph - a psy/MM blaster. Got her from 13 to 20 soloing - mostly the Jim Trembler/Penelope Yin/Doc Delila arcs. Not only that, but thanks to this weekend, she was able to more than double the SG prestige prior to getting my RL friend's toon on as the second member of the group.
Only put in about 12-14 hours over the course of the weekend - busy with RL as well as getting ready for a convention next weekend out of town. Got another toon on Virtue from 12 to 21 on Virtue last night - even with all the mapservers - and a couple of villians on Champion that I hadn't touched in months (except to move around to new day-job locations) up to at least lvl 6 -
Last nigth on Virtue there were times when our team was getting mapserver for not just a few seconds, but minutes. And unlike other times where after a certain length of time, you timed out and had to log back in, we'd mapserver, then not see the message but still be frozen, have a brief moment of movement, and then the whole cycle would repeat.
And it just wasn't our team, as both myself and another member checked with our respective SG's, and found that the problem was server-wide. Now if it was just me, I could put it down as problem with my system or more likely my ISP. However, if it happens in this broad a manner, what was going on?
I know it sounds far-fetched, but could there have been a malicious cyber-attack on the servers late last night? -
I got kicked for just trying to access the auction house...TWICE!!!
I'd really like to ask Posi straight up, no outright lies, no marketing BS, but just the honest truth. "Is this game already dead and you're not telling us?" Or worse, "Are you pulling this crap on us 'cause you're really the ones behind CO and want us all to move over there without telling us flat out?"
I've put too much time, money and effort into this game over the past three years to have this crap happen. And this event is telling me that I may have just wasted a lot of that. -
Okay, it seems that my post in this thread was deleted - I guess some poeple don't want negative posts here.
Anyways, I am not a fan of the 'use your ingame username/password, not your forum ones' that is still here.
But moreso, I'm not impressed that our sig lines is now limited to 5 lines! It used to be 300 characters, and I made sure that my sig was within those confines. Now I can't even modify it unless I want to blow up more than half of what I've put in there. I mean, I don't have any graphics in my sig, and those who do but have fewer lines have larger sigs than mine.
As Seinfeild would say, "What's up with that?" -
I have to lend my voice to Battlerrock and Alsoa here. I've said before that we need a way to be able to create second and third floors inside those insanely huge rooms. Can't we have ways of making floors, walls, movie screens, etc. (just to name three that I want) without having to spend thousands and thousands of prestige.
Many of us arn't in SGs with dozens of players spending all our time gathering boffo amounts of prestige. Many of us are in SGs where our visions are coming up against the object limit in our bases and they are threatening to crash on us.
Please, let us have our kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, and inhome theaters. Please let us build the dorm rooms, apartments, garages, etc. that our hearts desire, without having to grind hundreds of hours for prestige - only to see it gobbled up by a single square of floorspace in our base.
The current graphics in this game arn't quite up to the level of Sims 2, but they're close - and much better than Sims 1. (IMO, Sims 1 was a better game to decorate in, seeing how Maxis pretty much nerfed player-built content to try and keep it all propiertary for Sims 2.)
We see what can be done now with what is available. Imaging just how much more we could do if only we were allowed to. -
(I'm replying here because it was mentioned in the Scoop - and the post in this section that mentions it as well can't be replied to.)
About the issue regarding sharing accounts. What exactly do you mean by a violation? How far are you going here?
I often see on these forums where someone mentions how they as a player have their spouse/child having one or two toons on their account. I know of a RL couple who only have the one computer and used to swap off playing when one was home and the other wasn't.
Then there is the case of when my RL gaming group gets together, and there are times where one of us will log into our accounts from his system to show off our latest toon. (We have one player who doesn't play COH but likes to see our toon's costumes as well.)
Are all of these illegal now? Or is this just another avenue you're taking to try and cut down on farmers/spammers? -

*GROAN!*
Okay, that was bad - if only because I remember when that song came out. -
Just found this thread, so I don't know if it's already been mentioned. Last night, on a new toon, I did another 'escort hostages out' mish. I noticed that once you rescue the hostage, he/she now has a little green arrow on the map.
(Yay, now I can tell when they stop following me.) -
Once again, I point back to my RL example of my old RPG group. We had one bad player who was trying as best he could to reap all the rewards while not putting his character in harms way. From time to time, our GM would make adjustments to the enemy or the gameworld in general. He felt that this would be an easy way to deal with things and handle the player in question.
Instead, that one player whould just shrug his shoulders and find other ways to keep doing what he was doing. At the same time, the rest of the players will have to deal with the changes, including one player who would vehimately voice these concerns to my GM friend.
It took me years before I finally got it through my GM friend's head as to how much damage he was doing to his game. Unfortuately, it didn't get through until after his game imploded.
*SIGH*
I wonder if the devs realize that the very players they are trying to deal with will just do what the one player in my group did, just go find another way to get what they want. And in the end, it will be us the regular players who will suffer. -
Actually, for a passable stocking, I use the 'Heel2' option (usually on Stilettos) and then the 'Disco' option for the upper legs. With a short skirt, it actually does look like my female character is wearing stockings instead of pantyhose.
And I do agree that in terms of the 'Fishnet' option, we need to be able to seperate the stocking from the shoe. As I pointed out about a year or so ago in Jay's costume request thread, we can do it with 'Heel2', why not with 'fishnet'? (Or, for that matter, 'Full Fishnet'?) -
The week after it came out, I was downtown here in Toronto, looking for a copy.
I tried Futureshop, with no luck.
I tried Best Buy, with no luck.
I then went to EB Games in The Eaton Centre to pick up a timecard, and mentioned that I was looking for Mission Architect, if for nothing else than the extra month. The clerk mentioned that they had copies of that, so I bought that instead.
To he honest, I have to agree with the comment about the downsizing of PC games in various stores. In fact, there have been times when I've asked about a computer video game, I've been sent over to the console gaming section.
I'm guessing it's more because companies know that in order to play these cool games, you not only need to buy their consoles, but more often than not various accessories. (As opposed to a PC game, where all you need is your keyboard and mouse.)
As far as I can see, those accessories are more trouble than they're worth. I help out at an afterschool homework club, where among the various games we have is a Wii console. We have all the sports accessories, along with two steering wheels, but I think it's been months since anyone has even tried to use any of them. All of us find it easier to play golf or tennis without them. -
As I say in my sig, I hve 62 toons. I have lots of free time later at night, so it only took me two nights to handle all of them while moving day-job locations at the same time.
And I would have gotten to all of them eventually, since I log in every 21-22 days to change locations for each of them.
I do have a lot of pads from the 'great supergroup bonus' about 18 months ago. But those are easy to spot, as they are all named 'Paddingtoon###' - the ### being numbers.
Any log-on badge event, I usually do all the logging in within the first few days so that I don't forget at the end. -
Wait a sec! Are you trying to tell us that this is the way you're gonna deal with all the farmers ingame? Confuse them with the time difference?

The maximum number of tickets awarded per player per mission has been reduced to 1,500 tickets. Because you cannot get a partial reward for defeating an enemy, you may end up with slightly less.
[/ QUOTE ]
so I guess the whole risk vs. reward thign goes out the window once again in favor of all risk and no reward....sigh, well so much for MA missions....
[/ QUOTE ]
You want all risk and no reward? I think I've found that there is more to this patch then they are letting on. I've done two mishs today, and in each of them I came up against at least two closely grouped mobs consisting of an orange boss and two yellow LTs each. Not only that, but I found my attack rate suddenly went down to almost nothing.
Now, I also noticed that I didin't get any debt when I died multiple times - the toon I was on is lvl 16, so she should be getting debt.
It looks to me like the devs are having a little temper tantrum and griefing us all because of the problems they're facing with MA crap. -
Came in at 11:00 AM for a couple of hours, got a couple of badges almost right off the bat. Got DC'd a couple of times, and after awhile I decided to take a break mid-afternoon to do some household chores.
Came back online about just before 8:00 PM, and was a bit dissapointed with Posi's 'message'. It was pretty much 90-95% of what we had already read on the forums - although I can understand it being for those players who don't read the forums. A couple more DC's for me, but I stayed on until the end message.
For my part, I stayed on with All-American Teen on Liberty for the entire event. I might have switched over to Grey Whisper - my first ever toon here - but wanted to finally nail down the badge for Ghost Widow.
(I know for certain that three previous times I faced her I had connected, but I think it was a case of the rest of my team being distracted two or even three ways with other AVs/EBs.)
As others here have said, lag was horrendous in AP - and most everywhere else was a ghost town. (Although I did anchor a team against the Rikti in Talos late in the evening.)
The most interesting thing I saw was at the top of Atlas' statue after we had defeated The Clockwork King. Once defeated, instead of keeling over, he starts dancing.
And by the end of the evening, we were pretty much running around City Hall en masse, moving from one spawn group to the next. I started thinking, "Oh great, it's almost like we're running some sort of COH 'Indy 500'." - well, except that we were running clockwise instead of counter-clockwise.
All in all, I enjoyed it. I got nearly another dozen badges, got to talk with some new people between spawns, and think I may have gotten my RL friend another MA badge when I ran the remnants of one team through his shortest arc. I'll have to remember to get a pic of Teen with her snazzy anniversary title tomorrow. -

Why dont you put in a VOTE system to elect the super leader? Give the current leaders a vote each. Tied voting means no super leader.
I mean, we are all about democracy right? :P
This way any SG politics would not affect customer service - CS would just have to worry about if the voting system works or not.
Upsen.

I'm sorry, but this seems to be the essence of what all the problems with this boils down to:
"This isn't fair, it's not democratic, we have to have a say on this!"
We the players can't have a say in everything that the devs put into the game. I don't know why so many who hate this hate it because it's "undemocratic" - I have few speculations, but I'm not going to say right now - but I do know that this is coming and we should try to see what the end result is before complaing to the high heavens. -
Okay, I'd like to know when - if ever - people are on? I still have 7 alts on Infinity that I have to try and get all this done by Sunday. (And I'm about ready to give up on Weed Whacker and/or Coldblooded for the rest of them if things keep going at the pace they are.)
I just left Pocket D right now, totally disgusted - and I think there was a massive server-side problem, as me and another team member both DC'd at the same time - due to a complete lack of teams or willingness to run the mishs.
Ex, up until now I've been one of those who have been saying that it's okay that there's nothing new. But now I'm starting to wonder if it would have hurt so much to have put is a small token NEW content just to keep people's interest? -
Oh, you mean the tickets to Moonbase Alpha? The Luna Zone has been discussed for well over a year here, and still no results. In fact, there was speculation that the construction in Port Oakes just west of the ferry to Mercy Island was an intended connection to the zone red-side.
BTW, that mish is exactly like last year's, save for the change of one word in both one clue and the contact's plea. (They changed 'wedding gifts' and 'wedding night outfit' to 'annversary gifts' and 'anniversary night outfit'. Mind you, why anyone would keep a gag gift from a bachelorette party for over a year is beyond me.) -
I don't have a problem with running the same missions over again, as I have plenty of alts that I want to get the goodies for that I had to ignore the last two years.
What I am peeved at tonight was the inordinate number of players who were insisting that they were doing the mishs for xp, and if you were too low you would be sidekicked. I felt like going on Broadcast and saying, "Hey, if you want xp, then go do regular mishs, a lot of players just want to get the event goodies, or help lowbie players get them easily."
Heck, I've been on both sides on that one. I've gotten mishs on a lowbie toon for mid- to high-level toons to blow through, and I've brought in my upper-teen/low-twenties toons to blaze through a level 2's mish. (There were times during the winter event when my toon had the needed badges and canes, but kept doing the mish until everyone on the team got what they needed.) -
As I said ingame tonight to my one team, I have a theory as to why this year's event is a carbon copy of last year. I feel that the devs put so much effort into Issue 13 - both the issue itself and all the patches and re-patches needed to try and save it from the crapper - that there was no time left to put something new together for Spring Fling.
And before anyone says anything, I am glad that the devs have such grand plans for this game, really I do. It's just that time and again they seem to be blind to the little details that enivitably trip them up. -

Is that a chocolate bunny? If it is, then do not let any of the sorority girls near it, as you'll never see it again. -
OKay, I finally finished the stairway in one of the studio rooms - still another three to go.
I'd like to know what you guys think:
Stairwell & dorm rooms
Those are grey counters that I've used for landings, with SG floor plates on top. (The SG floor plates are just like the floor tile, invisable from below, so I put the counters there to avoid that.)
Each dorm room is theoretically 38' X 22'. Some of them will probably be one big room, while others will have some sort of partition to section off the sleeping area.
Once it's done, there will be a total of 12 rooms here - although I'm thinking that only 10 will be actual dorm rooms, with the 11th being a washroom/shower room and the 12th being some sort of kitchenette. The center will probably be just a general common area with some sofas.
I'm just using the current grid pattern as a guide, and will change the floor once I'm done. But I do have one question for my fellow builders: Should I cover up the back wall of the stairwell with bookshelves or leave it alone?
