(I'm replying here because it was mentioned in the Scoop - and the post in this section that mentions it as well can't be replied to.)

About the issue regarding sharing accounts. What exactly do you mean by a violation? How far are you going here?

I often see on these forums where someone mentions how they as a player have their spouse/child having one or two toons on their account. I know of a RL couple who only have the one computer and used to swap off playing when one was home and the other wasn't.

Then there is the case of when my RL gaming group gets together, and there are times where one of us will log into our accounts from his system to show off our latest toon. (We have one player who doesn't play COH but likes to see our toon's costumes as well.)

Are all of these illegal now? Or is this just another avenue you're taking to try and cut down on farmers/spammers?

I absolutely love the Base guides. well done! I wish our dev team would put some focus on base editing. theres so much to do there! so much that can be done...

Good point. I'd considered that after I submitted the article. I guess I let a bit of the stereotype (there HAS to be a "healer class", right?) slip in there.

Defenders and Controllers are probably the hardest Archtypes to solo. It will require careful selection of powersets since some of them are very poor in damage dealing powers.

I'm not a dev/employee/gm, but basically the rule is and has always been a 1 to 1 ratio of people to accounts. If you have two people playing the game, you need two accounts. No sharing. The person paying for the account is the only one authorized to use it.

One exception being underaged kids. A parent may pay for an account to be used exclusively by a minor. But going by the rules, the minor can't share the parent's account.

Assuming the guy isn't sitting down and playing for hours on your account, I don't think there's anything wrong with this according to the EULA.

When a friend of mine introduced me to this game, he let me make a character on his account and run through a few levels. He sat right there with me, explaining how the game worked and other helpful things. Mind you, he knew that I was NOT going to do anything which could get him in trouble- no obscene or rip-off character names or looks, no offensive behavior in chat, or towards other players, or anything else that could get him in doo-doo.

While technically what he did was a no-no, I am glad he did it. It got me into the game, and I've stuck around for close to 42 months now

I think the main point of the article is that, IF you let someone else use your account, and IF that person breaks rules or misbehaves, YOU are the one who will be held accountable. As long as everyone is playing nicely, the issue will never come up -- how would they ever know, or prove, that you were sharing an account? But if they cause trouble, it won't make any difference that it was someone else "borrowing" your account -- you're the one who's going to get banned/suspended/whatever.

Yeah. I think the real purpose of the rule is to eliminate situations where people try to use the "my brother did it!!!" defense.

It also gives GMs an out for the inevitable "I shared my account with my best friend and now we hate each other and he deleted all my characters" situations.

I have never thought the customization in CoH couldn't get more expansive, so it was kind of a laughable lead line. Maybe I'll reconsider when archers can actually carry quivers or fighters can adopt different fighting stances that reflect their purported training.

Just to let everyone know, we are currently trying to adjust the Scoop to the new forums, and it might take a bit to return. We hope to have some promising news soon. I have found a way to find all of the back issues, and will be working with the staff to update the archive index.

There will still be formatting problems for the older issues. The root cause is that the new forums treat HTML a lot differently than the old software.

Since we now have this brand spanking-new forum, and there are now TWO versions of the Scoop (US and EU) - is it possible for it to have the Scoop in it's own segment in the "News, Events & Announcements" category? That way you can have the issue and you can have discussions about the issue all in the same forum and not have to split them like you would with the other announcements.

The link seems to be broken, cannot access it.
