Quote:The post wasn't deleted because it referred to an exploit, it was deleted because it directly pasted a GM response into a forum post, and that is against the rules.Oh, the devs' Known Issues/Patch Notes practices are just a pet peeve of mine.
They have a very broad definition of "exploit" and a very strict policy of not advertising them. This combination leads to many cases where players see things working a certain way for years, then being changed without a word from the devs. Supposedly - at least according to some red names posts in the past - the Patch Notes should include notice when exploit bugs are fixed, but in practice that seems to rarely happen. -

Quote:I don't know about you, but I carry on conversations during combat all the time. Not if it's intense and I need to focus on what I'm doing (especially if it's a toon that requires micromanagement), but still pretty regularly. Example:I can't imagine a situation in which I'd need to use either during a fight or other fast-paced situation. If I'm referring to a character as a character in game chat, it's certainly not while I'm hip-deep in Nemesis. And in my experience, that's how... pretty much every player is. If you need help, it's "help" or maybe "I need help," not "my toon needs help" or "my character needs help." A character is only referred to as such (using any of the terms being discussed here) outside of actual combat: "That's a cool-looking character." "Do you have any other heroes?" "Have you used Willpower on a toon before?"
Teammate: Yeah I've been wanting to try an Ill/Storm troller, I just never got around to it
Me: I've got an Ill/Storm toon, she just hit level 39 and it's pretty great -

Quote:Or maybe because they'd rather not die while typing out the word "character" in the middle of battle? Look, txtspk is silly, but it can be entirely acceptable in an environment where things needs to be typed quickly (and not everybody does type quickly).Ultimately, I think "toon" comes from the same places as "ur" and "ppl":
- Laziness ("character" is almost TEN WHOLE LETTERS IN A ROW! Nobody has that kind of time or energy!)
- Semi-literacy (the ch in "character" sounds like a k! And then when that same sound shows up again later in the word, it's spelled different! Who could ever hope to make sense of all that madness?)
- An attitude that "3+3=7" is close enough because "u know wut i mean."
It grates on my nerves just a little, too. Can you tell?
I don't get the hate myself, it reminds me of people who hate Comic Sans MS with the burning passion of all the suns in the universe. Me, I use it (the word "toon", not Comic Sans) because CoH was my first MMO, and I saw other people calling their characters "toons", so I picked up on that lingo. And to me, it makes sense, especially in this game, whose entire foundation is superhero comic books. I use both words interchangeably though, mostly it depends on whether or not I feel like typing out "character".
I also don't get the hang-up about being reminded of what you're doing (playing with virtual action figures, essentially). Why would you feel so much shame over something so ridiculous, especially if it's something you enjoy? If you truly feel shameful about it, then stop, because it can never bring you true joy. If you're not going to stop because you're a masochist or stubborn or whatever, at least chill the hell out and let other people enjoy themselves and call their enjoyment whatever they want. The game's not important enough to quibble over such semantics, and neither are your "characters". -
I have two mains, a hero and a villain (they may switch alignments temporarily to do content for both sides, but I like to handwave explanations for why that might happen), dating back to I4/5 and CoV launch, respectively. I have a bunch of other alts (ugh too many) but these two are the ones I focus on for everything. They're also my badgers (I considered turning their Praetorian counterparts into "Praetorian mains" also and having them be badgers, but that's probably not realistic in the slightest).
Also, my hero main has the distinction of being the first character I ever created. He's also a somewhat shameless self-insert. -
Keith Nance and Jenni Adair work the same way, in fact I don't believe Adair's arc will even appear in Ouro until you've completed Nance's.

Worksafe, eh? Guess I can't post or mention it, but let's just say it's "related" to XKCD.
Also JerkCity, which is (almost always) worksafe but extremely vulgar. -
Quote:YMMV. While BAF and Lambda are still the favorites, TPN and Keyes get run pretty often on Pinnacle, and MoM also gets run (no one ever wants to do UG though). I've never had any major issues with the Citizens in TPN, and I believe the reason they do as much damage as they do is because of the stacking debuffs from the Telepathists. Pinnacle TPN strategy is generally to ignore outside anyway, although it's starting to look like this can cause the entire league to crash before the final confrontation with Maelstrom.BAF is basically the easiest Trial, expect to see 9001 BAF teams and an occasional Speed Lambda.
Keyes is no longer hard, some of the kiddies are giving it a try now. I've been recently running it alot on my Stalker, since it's the one time in a team setting that Stalkers can almost feel like a real AT.
UG requires heavy coordination. Let me repeat that: Coordination. From CoX players. Write this one off for eternity, it's pretty much impossible.
I have never seen a MoM team. It is probably more difficult than sleeping, hence why nobody does it.
I've been on one TPN team, and haven't seen many more. The biggest complaint I have is that the story writers and programmers seriously dropped the ball by having Citizens to amazing damage to f***ing INCARNATES. TPN takes your game-world immersion and pile-drives it into the concrete. Also it requires people t not use AoE around Citizens, which is like asking a chimpanzee not to throw poo at you.
So in conclusion? Enjoy your BArFs and LAMes, because nobody does anything else, and probably never will until Paragon Studios invents a system which plays the game for you. -
I almost never used Thunderous Blast on my Elec^3 before I had Endless Destiny slotted. Now I use it whenever Ion Judgement is still recharging.
Still, I tend to agree with DreadShinobi, full endurance drain is a bit much. 75% should be fine, hell even 90% would be doable. -
Quote:Huh, must have been coincidence with the timing for many of us then. That's not my experience (although I have heard this working for some folks). The first time it happened to me I tried both logging into another character, and completely logging from the game, and restarting from the NC Launcher. I still couldn't log into my character. I just had to wait a few minutes.

Quote:The devs have explicitly stated that Statesman is the one being removed from the game world, although this won't happen until Issue 22 due to implementation issues (and is more fitting for an Issue release anyway). The whole CoH time-line is like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly... timey-wimey... stuff.
However, I believe that the devs have stated that the one of the surviving eight that dies in 'Who Will Die?' will in fact be removed from the game except for historical references (and the WWD series itself.) Note that I do not say Statesman is the one being removed. I think him dying in part 5 is a red herring and will end up as a 'comic book death' with the 'real' death not taking place until part 7. I don't think State's demise would have been announced so far ahead of time otherwise. -
Logging into another character will in effect "release" the character that experienced the crash, allowing you to log back in. From there you can try to rejoin the trial, but it will probably give you another error code.
I wouldn't feel too bad about it missing the rest of the trial though, based on both my own experience and what others have reported I assume the rest of the league crashed in the same manner and were unable to complete it. -
Quote:Yeah, that's not suspicious at all...
City of Heroes: Hero Mastermind pets are something that's been often requested by the community. I don't have anything to report on that at this time, sorry. I will say though, I'm sure Heroes could find a heroic way to put zombies to use...
Quote:Antoine Mason: What Is The Status On Staff Fighting? Will There Be Barbarian Titan Weapons And Barbarian Staffs? Will There Ever Be An Ancient Egyptian Costume Bundle?
City of Heroes: While there is no new zone for Issue 22, Dark Astoria is getting heavily revamped and will be made a co-op zone.I think something got lost in translation here.

But that's just silly, cute little animals are for GIRLS!

Quote:Carp MeleeMe, i reckon the devs are being super sneaky and Dom's are going to get fishy troll powers. Leviathan has great powers that are already animated, School of sharks for immobilize, water spout for knockback, spirit shark for damage, summon corolax for the pet, bile spray and arctic breath for the debuffs. Get a hold and a group hold and you're not far off. At a meet devs thing that happened in the past, Posi asked 'what would you like?' and i answered Leviathan, so many people agreed and he said, 'hmmmm, interesting' Of course i'm speculating but somewhere in the future....

Lag Valley in the ITF is fixed, fyi.
And no, I don't really crash, lag or DC that often on the iTrials, but it does happen, and more frequently than on regular content. -
Although by posting a potentially Bug Hunter-worthy bug publically on the forums instead of privately PMing it to a dev, you do cut your chances substantially since it's usually some kind of exploit.

That's a Ranged Damage recipe, you want Melee Damage. Unlike generic enhancements, Invention sets can only be slotted into powers that take those sets, and sets are (somewhat) more specialized than regular enhancements (Ranged/Melee/Pet/PBAoE/Targeted AoE Damage, for instance, are all flavors of damage, but only Melee will go into the powers you listed).
If you happen to pick up Hurl at level 26 (which I personally didn't on my SS Tank), you could slot it there, although that wouldn't be a great slotting option.
More info about Set IOs.
P.S. Bookmark ParagonWiki (http://www.paragonwiki.com or http://wiki.cohtitan.com ,they point to the same site), it's your friend, but NEVER follow links to any CoH wiki hosted on the site wikia.com, it's a haven of malware and outdated info. -
I'm pretty sure Freakshow have always drained endurance, at least the one with electric attacks.
