I think this entire thread is one big grief.

Quote:It's the timing. We should have gotten a freespec with Issue 22. You know, when they actually made changes to the game that would have required a respec, instead of simply handing it out as a toy.Why is there weeping and wailing everytime we get something free?
Also the whole "oh hey we've got lots of great stuff planned but here's this little thing".
Another fail by marketing. Pretty much every promotional piece is borderline insulting, I'm almost at the point where I'm just expecting it. -
I hate to burst your temporal bubble but Time Manipulation is a buff/debuff set, not a control set.
And I really don't see how this is any different (much less better than) a Dominator. 10% defense/5% resistance (best case) is not going to make you significantly less squishy. Also, if you think Doms are squishy, ur doin it rong. -
Quote:Wow, for once I actually agree with you on something. They might as well just give every character 10000 influence (or 8000, I guess would make more sense...or 10008). I remember when we used to get respec tokens with actual Issue releases (since, you know, pretty much every Issue release ever has had character-redefining power changes? including recent Issues which haven't come with a free respec...).Free respec token? >.<
Why not a choice?
-Server slot (Account Reward)
-Reward Token (Account Reward)
-Respec Token (Character Reward)
-Rename Token (Account Reward)
-Server Transfer Token (Account Reward)
I understand that this is something you guys do not have to do, and i am thankful you guys do do something for us. However, Respec? I can get a free respec in game when i need it.
Anyways.. Grats on 8 years of being a great game!
Like Energon said, you don't have to do anything...but you might as well have done nothing. You may have other stuff coming down the pike but this little tantalizing bit of nothing is really not tantalizing at all, it comes off as insulting more than anything else. Still, at least you're not charging us 8 PP for it... -

Yes, I understand the thinking behind it, I just think that thinking is stupid and backwards. :P

I'd prefer a permanent solution, to be honest.
Okay but seriously. I like this idea actually, it doesn't really make sense for these to be mixed in with standard Invention recipes. They also need to either split out memorized recipes onto another tab or at the very least not have the memorized section auto-expand.
I disagree with allowing temp recipes to collect without a cap though. For one thing, I don't see the devs giving us that, and another, it's really a pretty poor band-aid for the bigger problem of temp power/costume piece recipes dropping wayyyyy too much. The drop rate needs to be reduced, just by a little bit. -
Quote:I gotta give you credit. I'm a guy who likes details, who likes to nit-pick. This is the most marvelous piece of nit-picking and self-justification I've ever seen.'Historical' (albeit, esoteric) origin of fictional characters. I thought it was fairly obvious. :/
It does have to do with what's in a name, coincidentally. Specifically the El suffix attached to Superman's (and his father's) real name.
El, as a name suffix, denotes Elohim (ie, Rapha El, Mich[a] El, Azra El, etc); a sub-set of the angelic order. Angels being the 'super-powered' guardians of mankind.
(the reference also has the whole "sent his only begotten son" angle to it)
Has nothing to do with what CoX origin Batman is or how the fictional denizens of his backdrop view him (as I didn't allude or imply to either when I made my comparison).
Bravo, sir. Bravo.
Anywho, so you're saying names matter. Okay. So Batman, clearly, must be a fantasy character, because bats appear in all sorts of fantasy stories.
I was going to try to come up with more ridiculous examples but this has gotten so bizarre and abstract that it's just easier to say you're wrong and move on. -
It would certainly give me a chance to catch up on badging and alts.

Quote:They're doing it just to spite you. Every time the devs work on a new feature, they ask themselves, "Would Blue_Centurion want this?" If so, they do not do it.cannot decide if I like DarkGob or xzero45's response better. Also, many typed responses articulated well. Okay, I'm still irritated though. I want a theme, don't they freaking get that.
You should whip up a fresh batch of code and send it to them to show them how easy it is. Maybe then they'll understand. It shouldn't take too long, maybe just like a day or two to write it, take a couple hours to make sure it works. Coding is pretty simply after all. -
Quote:Evidently, they also have mag 2 Sleep/Fear protection atacked on top of 50% resistances to the same, although that doesn't explain a Grav/Earth Dom having difficulties. They have mag 3 immob protection. They actually don't have any RESISTANCE to immob, just PROTECTION. (I hate that the developers conflate the two terms in power descriptions all the time. That's why it says resistance in the wiki; because the game says that.)
Thus, it takes two applications of an immob to immobilize the dead guys, instead of one for normal guys.
Quote:Okay, I'm not familiar with this "Mag" bit of jargon ... -

Quote:Yes, this is another point that was not raised earlier. Although the devs may at some point give us Power Pool/Ancillary Pool customization, we've been told in the past that Patron Pool customization won't happen because those powers are linked to the story you obtain them from. It's entirely possible they could change their minds on that but I doubt it.Sorry, but wrong. Soul Mastery having white effects is not a problem and it will not be changed. It's like that for a reason. The effects come from Ghost Widow's powers. And you can't change it because it's not YOUR power. It's a PATRON power. You have been granted the power by Ghost Widow.

Quote:Sort of off-topic but I still think the naming of these is completely backwards. Account Items should be shared across an account, Character Items should be tied to a character. Sadly it's way too late to change it now.I think you're still confused. Or you're explaining yourself badly.
Account Items are available to every character, new and old, once per character. Veteran Rewards, etc.
Character Items may be claimed one time ever by one character. Consumables, SBEs, etc.
Catalysts come in the Character Items mailbox, not the Account Items mailbox. Everything from the Super Packs comes in the Character Items mailbox. -
There's no such thing as an inactive account anymore. Active subscription = VIP. If you're not a VIP then you are free or premium, which is the equivalent of inactive pre-Freedom (i.e., you're not paying a subscription).

Quote:Take [Dark Melee: Midnight Grasp] Apply to (Target). Midnight Grasp can be colored. It is the exact same effect. Leave EVERYTHING else alone, just change the effect applied by [Soul Mastery: Soul Tentacles] No Trial, No error, No time, No hassle. Start coding, take a day to test it. Seriously.
It's bad enough they were saying for months Pets each use as much comp power as a Player, then when they were replying to "Why can't we modify pets costumes?" they own up to the fact pets are written to be low resolution cheap comp power effects. The story always changes, but the underlying fact is this: "Suck it up, that's the way it is, and we'll change it if somebody feels like it, maybe."
This is related closely to why so much of the game has misspellings, typos, and grammar that would embarrass a 5th grader. It's easier to just leave it the way Joe typed it Monday morning while recovering from a hangover. -
Quote:It's been a couple thousand years, I think it's safely in the public domain by now.Hmmm. Considering shoving all my darkness powers over to white. It looks like another "This can never be done, it takes smartsy people payed to do jobs" problem.
ps, they stole that icon from ancient Greek mythology? I thought they were all into never copying other peeps stuff? -
No, Resistance doesn't work the same as Defense in that respect (or really any respect). However, ragdoll physics is still pretty horribly broken in the game, so consequently knockdown/back/up effects aren't working right.
-
Ah, haven't done the new low-level stuff yet. Just bought discounted character slots and created a Street Justice alt finally. It may be a while.

In many incarnations of the Batman character, many Gotham citizens believe him to be either a) supernatural, or 2) an actual man-sized bat. So what origin is Batman: Natural, Magic, Mutation? Or perhaps a 4th option: you are being silly.

Quote:So yes, they definitely do resist immob (as do Abominations), as well as Smashing damage, so that probably explains why you were having so much difficulty against them on a Grav/Earth Dom. Dunno about the other mezzes not working though, I have to assume that was your imagination running wild after your immobs didn't work.Originally Posted by ParagonWikiCadavers are resistant to Sleep, Fear and Immobilization. They are also resistant to Smashing damage but they are slow. They also are fairly dumb, and may wander around mindlessly if there are no Reapers around to tell them what to do.
