Excellent idea! I shall adjust mine posthaste!

If you're looking for RPSGs, there's a list stickied at the top of the Roleplaying forum. However, I would say that a number of them may no longer be active. Have a browse around the RP forums and see what takes your fancy. Alternatively, there should be an IC costume ball at which you could come and meet some members of existing groups. Again, there's a thread on the RP board.
As for forming your own, I have my own where I store all my IC light or non-RP characters. It's nice to have exclusive power over the base and a place to store any enhancements/invention salvage that you collect.
Good luck to you. -

So the game is female . . . . . interesting . . . . . .

Crud, this means that my relationship with this game just got a whole lot more difficult to explain to my partner... -

I wonder if it's worth creating a channel for those of us who really DON'T want to farm. You get much above level 40 these days and it's the same problem. Can't join a team 'cos it's full or farming, can't make one because people want farm teams.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd join that. As much as I love my 50s, I barely play them as the only teams that seem to be looking for 50s are farm teams. Shame.
That said, there are some great arcs out there created by people who really care and really want to tell a story. I've been writing down the idents of each one I've really enjoyed so I can go back to them again later. -

Ego Arc:
An Arc with players own toon in. Particularly used in the context of making that toon very powerful and dialouge that insinuated or even blantantly shouts how much more powerful that toon is than the player. Also used in the context of the toon being crowbarred into the story for no good reason.
[/ QUOTE ]
I call these Mary Sues myself.
Don't get me wrong, there's nothing bad about featuring one of your characters in a story (I certainly have!) but I've run into a number where the inserted character is so overpowered and full of awesome, they dwarf the player in comparison. -

So how to the Warwolves fit in?
[/ QUOTE ]
IIRC, they're failed Nictus experiments. I think I read that in a very good guide to Kheldians a while back. I think that they're led by Requiem. I could of course be remembering incorrectly as I don't have the guide to hand. -
Suddenly I'm even more concerned about putting that EB into my low level arc. Still I don't think I've had any complaints so far. Will have to replay it again this evening and see if it's too difficult for a low level toon. Damn.

As far as game immersion goes, it's game breaking - pure and simple.

I like the MA so far but I think I see what you're saying. I love flying around the city (or the isles) seeing pedestrians, cars, thugs to pound on etc. Now I reckon you could level from 1 - 50 without setting foot outside of the AE building. And that's a shame.
Perhaps in future, we'll have the ability to set door points around the city that'll help keep some of that immersion although I expect that would annoy just as many people as it would please. The MA will be an added extra to my game but I still like doing other things too. Right now it's just popular because it's shiny and new. There are already limits to its capabilities and I think that will send some people back to Dev created arcs in time.
As for the arcs being part of the CoX universe, I believe that the Dev's choice award is meant to be part of that but that may well be a hard accolade to achieve. I will be watching to see how things develop. -
I can understand where Dave is coming from. I played around with the tools on test but have not yet put an arc up for publishing. Mainly because I don't think it's good enough yet. I like to tinker, some people don't.
And so instead of creating I've been playing and yes, there are some terrible arcs up there (IMHO). The MA is a new toy and I'll bet that most people have dived straight in and bashed out the first thing that came to mind. But the MA is new. It's been live for two days and it's a new toy to play with for most players who haven't been on the Test server. So of course there's going to be a flood of stuff generated that's of questionable quality.
But I honestly believe that once the initial interest is over and the madness dies down, the rate of arcs published will go down as people get bored and go back to doing what they normally do. A number will remain who will do their best to squeeze every bit of potential out of the MA, even if that is to make excrutiatingly difficult missions.
For a new release, it's pretty good but I think that as time goes by, more search filters will be necessary to identify what kind of arcs are available. At least I hope so. And although it's tempting to introduce some kind of 'quality filter' that's a very subjective thing to do and as has been said, one man's disaster is another man's masterpiece. There's already been a number where I've questioned why exactly it warranted five stars.
Be patient and hopefully once the lunacy dies down, we'll start seeing the real good arcs emerging. -
I've never been able to take that show seriously since Charlie Brooker pointed out that Dragons don't have dens, they have lairs. Kind of an oversight I reckon.
-
I'll do my best to attend. Any excuse to use a tuxedo.
I haven't been to PD for a while now so I've got no idea how 'bad' it's become. So I'm ok for it being there, perhaps in a more secluded area. If the VIP bar wasn't a thoroughfare for people taking a shortcut through PD, I'd suggest there but maybe not. -
Having both a Sonic/En and an AR/En, I can say that I enjoy the former more. The AR is team friendly (Boost Range + Full Auto + Flamethrower is very nice
) whereas the Sonic solos a lot, lot better due to the soft controls. I keep meaning to finish my Sonic/En guide sometime soon.
-
As one of my mains is Sonic/En I'd love for Power Boost to affect -Res. But unfortunately, as said, there's no way to boost -Res powers to my knowledge. It is handy for boosting your stuns, sleeps and heals (if you took Medicine Pool as I did) but that's it.

Due to some IC rules, players need to consider carefully if they really want to know what the Six Sigma is..
[/ QUOTE ]
I actually feel really bad mentioning this but I just came off a Team Leading course at work and...
Sorry....! -
I'll reply here for the hell of it, against my better judgement. As the owner of a level 50 Sonic/En Blaster, I can say firmly that it really does not suck. The damage output is good, the secondary effect helps out everyone on the team and the soft controls make it one of the easiest Blasters to solo.
However, you seem to have already made your mind up about this one. -
[ QUOTE ]
Illusion control is not Mind control, so keeping ppl perma buffed with empath skills is not as easy as it would be keeping people buffed with kinetic skills as a Illusion controller.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think perhaps you're misunderstanding my point. I know how busy Mind is compared to Illusion, I'm not comparing sets. My point was that teams sometimes focus on something that you provide and forget the rest. So here, they forget that they have a Controller on hand and just expect him to spend all of his time healing.
Unfortunately, bad PuGs do tend to think that once they have an Empath on board, be they a Defender or Controller, that they are indestructible and if they die, then the 'Healer' isn't doing their job. Because it's easier than examining their own tactics. -
There's a number of ways you can tackle this subject. And depending on what you're playing, different tactics can work for different teams. I think some of your problem, as noted, is that Empath Controllers tend to get thought of as pure Empaths rather than Controllers first, Empaths second. It happens with my Ill/Kin Controller sometimes as well. People forget about the controls and just scream for Speed Boost all the time.
On my Kin Defender, I like to keep all the buffs up as much as possible and I take it as a point of pride if we get through a mission without one person calling for Speed Boost. So if a team was bad, I wouldn't stop boosting them as it reflects badly on me and all you get is an already bad team yelling at you for buffs. I feel that you may suffer the same if you suddenly stopped healing them all.
Do your best in the team and then leave. There are people out there who will appreciate a well played toon and it's really not worth teaming with those that don't. There can be some grand PuGs out there but there can be some rubbish ones too. -
And then of course, it's not just costume auras. Power Auras can ruin a good costume. I once designed a great 'urban' costume for my Regen Scrapper, took her outside, switched on Integration and found that the green of the aura rendered the costume a disgusting muddy brown and green mess.
I have used the test server to try out costumes but it does seem a long winded way round the problem.
So yes, having the cost applied on maybe exiting the Tailor would be a better way of doing things. -
Just want to say thanks for the descriptions Starscreamer. I haven't bothered to take my MM to 50 yet as the VEATS haven't excited me so far. Now they do. The way you describe them makes them sound terribly fab. Thanks!
-
I hadn't noticed this but now I have I'm rather peeved. It may not mean squat in terms of gameplay but I'll miss it for characterisation. And I never got to see my Dwarf making tea.
If the Colonel's correct we can chalk up another F for Fail against unlucky 13 then... -

I haven't put that many sets into my D3 but I would definitely agree with this:
[ QUOTE ]
I see some things overslotted such as Oppressive Gloom, Howling Twilight and Tar Patch (I find HT and TP most useful if slotted for rchg) and some other things underslotted (Shadow Fall, Dark Embrace, Darkest Night...)
[/ QUOTE ]
Stupefy is a nice set but the bonuses aren't worth spending the slots on the powers in my opinion. Oppressive gloom works well with two and I only use recharge on my Howling Twilight. The only power that really needs it is Dark Pit to try and make up for its poor accuracy and duration.
However, what I will say is that I didn't see any resistance enhancements in Shadowfall. The Defence off of that power is low and IMHO, not worth enhancing. The resistance to EN/NegEN though is definitely worth putting some slots in. I also think you'll need some accuracy in Soul Drain to make it efficient.
One last thing is that with Shadowfall and Recall Friend, you're a Stealth IO away from ghosting for the team which is always a nice ability to have.
Hope that helps some. -
Personally, I hate herding on my Stone/SS as well mainly due to the slowness issue. The best I can do is teleport into a spawn, hit and taunt them a bit and then port out towards where the team is waiting. I don't know how you have Mud Pots slotted but I go for 3 EndRed, 3 Taunt and they seem to like it.
But as I'm a fairly newbie Tanker myself, I'll be curious to know how the more experienced Tankers do it. -

Someone with genuine altitis will want to kit out all there alts, so they will all need merits, so thier is no point in being able to trade them.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmmm. That's nonsense IMO. Someone with genuine altitis will never have enough merits to kit out all their chars, that's a lot of the issue with having lots of alts. Having some way of pooling them would be nice as oppose to having lots of wastage.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is me. Since the abomination of Merits, I've had to choose two or maybe three alts to work on IOing out. All the others just have to get by with SOs. I'd be for trading Merits between alts on one account but nothing further otherwise it defeats the object of them as has been said. -
[ QUOTE ]
I've mostly given up with IOs for precisely this reason. It's perfectly playable with SOs, and apart from a few, what I consider to be "essentials" (KB Prots on a fire tank for eg), I steer clear of Inventions for the most part.
[/ QUOTE ]
Same here. The Merit system pretty much killed my interest in set IOs and I'm not even someone who goes for full IO builds. Just small things like knockback protection on /Fire toons or run speed increases for my Stone Tank.
