  1. I have a lvl 50 stone/elec brute and hasten with quickness really helped out for her attack chain. For I16, I'm going with the elec/elec tank...not so worried about the weak dmg resistance as she'll be a super sapper and after sucking up aggro no one will have any endo to attack her with.
  2. The issue you're going to have is dealing with the alpha and then trying to recover enough health that their other attacks won't take you out. WP just isn't meant to weather a full blown alpha and your recovery will wilt as RTTC with only one foe isn't really up to par. You could try going total numina's with LoTG thrown in for additional regen and you could get up to about 400% regen rate but most AVs will still take you down. This is speaking from experience with a fully IO'd bs/wp scrapper with several purple sets and AVs generally win.
  3. I agree with the stocking up on reds vice greens and taking aid self with my SR. For all those toons I also take energy torrent to get the knockdown effect on the mob, wade in and lay waste...if I need to, I'll hit another knockdown power and then aid self. For me this is every effective and I have no problem taking the other 1/2 of the map away from the main group and solo the mobs set for the 8 member team.

Alternatively, to buy yourself some more time, run one or maybe two corridors back and wait for fluffy to catch up and then run forwards to the area with mobs again to start your herd. Ofcourse this works better solo then when in team.
    2. Dismiss fluffy and resummon in right place when your herd arrives.
    3. Use recall friend and tp fluffy to the place you want him, if he's not.

It takes a bit of practise, but then you'll find it works out fine most of the times. Still, occasionally he immobs the baddies prematurely disturbing your herd idea, ending up wasting your carefully laid down tarpatch and selected position while he gets hammered (depending on size and type mobs), but that's life ;-D
I just do it the easy way...go to the farthest mob I feel like sucking up...hit DN to bring them through another mob or two...set up tar around a corner so they'll hit and slow while I wait with a freshly summoned fluffy next to me. After that its simple, ROF, fireball, breath, AIM, fireball and then inferno...mob is decimated and I just pop a blue if I need to take down a straggler...this way I can quickly and effectively herd mobs set for 8.
  5. Having PVP'd my DM/SR I can say that the biggest issue is the lack of buildup and that the debuffs which work so well in PVE just don't hold weight in PvP. IMO, it really shines in PVE but is lacking in PvP.
  6. Fire tank was always a very cookie cutter build as its very squishy without tough, weave and combat jumping but now with IOs you can pick and choose if you need it. Personally, I still have it on my fire / fire tank that I originally made in I-1, just now instead of all hamis he's IO'd out the wazoo.
  7. I love my claws/sr scrapper and can easily see it working great as a brute due to its quick recharge and low endo usage on attacks. The issue you'll run into is that SR doesn't really reach its full potential until much later in the game, before that you're very squishy and claws lack the big dmg attacks until eviscerate so you won't be one shotting very many opponents.
  8. I take elude on all of my SR toons just for those oh **** moments. My Elec/SR is a great toon to play as I can practically run all day without needing to eat too many blues. The issue I have is getting full fury going which is usually accomplished by merely jumping into the mob, taking the alpha to get going and then hitting either lightning rod or thunderstrike to get me a little room before I fire off aid self. I run fully slotted tough, weave and combat jumping in addition to the full spectrum of the SR set...didn't take any of the patron powers nor did I take too many of the attacks except for charged brawl, thunderstrike, chained lightning, jacobs ladder and lightning rod but I'm able to get away with that due to having all the veteran attacks.
  9. My brutes and scrappers can generally out aggro a tank and are as survivable if not moreso depending on the build. IOs are the great equalizer and have really changed the game's dynamics. My 2 favorite toons are my DB/SR scrapper and an Elec/SR brute that are capped on defense and has 280% regen thanks to the numinas and some strategic placement of LoTGs. They roll through 8 man spawns with no problems and can stand toe-to-toe with AVs. Both have the ability to tank, while having great movement and the optional 'auto-win' button.

Now my fully IO'd Wp and Invul tanks are true beasts but aren't anywhere near as fun as a good brute to play.
  10. Since I mainly play melee toons I have a tendency to go into scrapperlock on every mish. Earlier today we were speed running the ITF on my elec/SR brute...fully spec'd and IO'd so its a rariety I even take dmg and if I do...its thunderstrike to clear a space and then aid self to fully heal. For the Sybils, I quickly maxed out aggro and fury just happily jumping from Sybil to Sybil laying waste while not able to see anything due to the mob when I finally notice that they rest of the team and left when I was teleported to the altar. With the shadow cysts, the crab and I cleared all 10 while the rest of the team were bogged down. I love it when they go boom and the team dies around me while my health bar stays full.

I know people denigrate SR but it is far and away my favorite secondary and I can generally outlast every other AT even without pressing the auto-win button.
  11. Having a lvl 50 ELM brute I would say that the scrapper would do much better as the benefits from crits outweigh fury, especially since ELM is more geared towards taking out mobs vice bosses. Don't get me wrong in that my brute lays waste with full fury and its easy to get and maintain, but its frustrating to hit a boss and have them look at me with a 'was that supposed to hurt' expression.
  12. I just finished lvl'ing an elec/sr brute to 50 and I enjoyed it. I have several /SRs blue side but the red side was a little bit more challenging. I admit that I do have aid self as a heal and get around the being hit part via the 2 PBOA knockdowns with elec. A mob on its back can't hit me so I'm able to heal between the attacks.
  13. I've played the game since I-1, and have a long and extensive list of lvl 50 tanks as they're my favorite AT:

    Fire / Fire (1st)
    Fire/ Stone (2nd)
    Invul / Mace
    Invul / SS
    Ice / Axe
    Stone / NRG
    WP / Fire
    Dark / Fire
    Shield / SS

Out of all the tanks, the stone tank by far has the best defense, the invul tank can suck up aggro like no other, the fire back when burn was worth a damn ruled the game. Ice has nice secondary affects, shield with SS has great dmg and dark works wonders with mobs but sucks on bosses.

If I'm building a no crap, take no prisoners, machine of destruction then I'm going with the Stone / NRG...practically indestructible, running mudpots for some xtra dmg, an early PBAOE attack to winnow out the mobs and then the big gun single target attacks to lay low the bosses. This tank won't suck up massive amounts of aggro, though mudpots gets their attention but lays waste to the mobs and stacks up the body count.

However, I'm now more of a scrapper type player and I will say that I love my claws / sr, dm / sr and db / sr.
