  1. A flame called CO got lit under this game's butt. Competition is good. Next thing to get lit is a blowtorch, though (you know what I'm talking about). Asbestos underwear will come in handy.

My predicted outcome? CoX gets voted "Best non-sword & sorcery MMO" yet agin.

I was ecstatic to see some new Villain exclusive content in I17. I think Dr. Aeon may be pulling for more Villain content. If so, more power to him. If you build it they will come. It's true.
  3. After reading this thread, I was inspired to roll a Dark/Axe. So thanks, thread!

I love the end use to use it rather than on expiration, this way if you're low on end it's in your hands rather than hoping you have enough end in the middle of a fight. But if you force in the dmg reduction then bring the end cost down to 25.
Thanks for actually looking at the numbers and analyzing it. Very good points all around. The damage nerf (from 80% to 74%) is meant to account for the downtime the current Rage enforces. With this version of Rage, your damage over time would be as good or perhaps even better than currently (ignoring double stacking).

Either way double or triple stacking is going away at some point in the future, we all know this, it's only a matter of what is given in exchange. "Don't change Rage" is not an option.

If anyone else has any Rage modification ideas, let's hear them, I'm sure there's some great ideas out there.
  5. It's a given Super Strength's Rage is going to change, but how?

    My take:

    Reduce damage to 74%.
    Reduce ToHit to 5% (Enhanceable)
    Add 20% Accuracy (Enhanceable)
    Add 86.5% ToHit Debuff Resistance
Click costs 30 Endurance to activate (equivalent to .25 EPS), 120 second Recharge/Duration (fixed unenhanceable/unbuffable/undebuffable)
No crash on power expiration, does not double stack.

The crash is "built in" to give 100% uptime.

Marry me. Man love is beautiful love!

Doms do bad in PvP, huh?
  9. Mez suppression is 15 seconds, and TK Holds with no repel, and the Hold lasts until the power is detoggled or you (ie, the target of TK) take damage. Very, very broken.
  10. Go, go Sentai Force!

I don't normally do SGs, but I think I may want to join these guys too. Look like a fun group and have some epic videos on YouTube.

*wonders if Sentai Burnt Umber is taken*

The fact Brutes get Super Strength and Super Reflexes tends to indicate that if this was ever a guideline, the devs have since thrown it out.
  14. Sarrate, your points are well taken and your F-Zero analogy is completely awesome, but I don't think that's enough to keep a port of the set from Tanks. Especially since Brutes got the set. IMVHO it would outperform the other sets early, but other sets would go on to mature into their specific niches while SR, as Bill Z said, would "hit a wall".

And yes, we don't balance around IOs, but in the late game, with IOs, a number of sets end up looking better than Tanker SR (same Defense, better utility; SR gets and keeps Defense more easily, but sacrifices the utility the other sets get. To me, that looks balanced).

I don't think you'd see SR Tanks being the first choice for the very toughest Tanking duties in the game, though I do see it being a very solid all-around performer, ultimately being in the middle of the pack for sets getting picked and played. In PvP (lolz) it would outperform Dark Armor and...get outperformed by everything else.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see SR Tanks in GR. We'll just have to wait and see.
  15. I once thought SR was so great, it couldn't get any better. Then I played it on a Brute, and it was way better. On a Tank it would be amazing. I want a SR Tank.
  16. Big fan of Jump Kick here. I find it fits in with acrobatic type characters perfectly (and goes with Martial Arts very well). And it's been buffed form it's original version I believe, so it suffers from a poor reputation that isn't 100% deserved. I wouldn't say the Knockup is any good as mitigation, though. I rarely see it even though I use JK regularly.

Of course, all pool attacks have to live under the shadow of Air Superiority (which is obviously overpowered with it's 2 100% secondary effects. My solution? Buff all pool attacks to match Air Superiority's usefulness).

I'm working on a super-speeder character that will have both Flurry and Whirlwind, too.

Sometimes players get too caught up in numbers and forget how to just have fun with the game.
  17. I like the AE on paper, but it has been a real mixed blessing for the game.

The good in it is that there really are some great MArcs, and it lets you side-step the market on salvage. But that comes at the very high cost of breaking the game in almost every conceivable way, and costing the game some of the good will of the player base (on various MMO forums, it is fairly common to see people who left the game due to what the AE did to it).

From a new player experience viewpoint, AE has been disastrous. Level50s with no idea the game has more than one zone. People who think AE is the totality of the game. This I would argue is far more hurtful to the game than any exploit or farm. A new player who thinks AE is the whole game isn't going to be sticking around.

Is the benefit worth the cost? IMO no, especially when considering the opportunity cost. The massive resources spent on AE could have been used to revitalize the low-level game, expand the high-level game, any number of things that would have improved the game and not brought the serious downsides brought by the AE.

I'm sure I'll continue to dip my toes in on AE every now and then (I'm a sucker for a good story) but only as the lowest of in-game priorities.

And despite what the OP said, many legitimate MArcs with good stories have been hurt by the latest patch. I don't understand why some people can't see that.
  18. "Beating the Honoree" sounds like a euphamism for something.

  20. I agree, take the XP out. It's where this is all headed anyway.

Nerfing XP because you have a defensible object or more than one MAlly is just silly and hurts many legitimate MArcs and MAuthors.
  21. Photonic Weapons for 5 million. Heh. Doesn't surprise me. Market is fail.
