So, we buy GR, then we have to wait months for the content to be actually available in the game?
If you buy it now, you get to use Dual Pistols right away, then Demon Summoning and other things ( I forget which ones) in Issue 17 in April, and then the rest with the official launch.
  2. Whoa... "all 10 basic archetypes get a new powerset with this expansion"
  3. Link to the info? It's hard not to call Broad Sword without proof of all of this.

I don't think you made it up, but it sounds like an elaborately made-up rumor. I mean, we don't know the details of Issue 17 (edit: yes, we do) but we know things like "9 more levels" and "Incarnate abilities" from Issue 19?
  4. I'd love it if things in the in-game store were available from the NCSoft store. I'm talking about extra character slots, respecs, and extra AE story slots.
  5. I'd have to say it's the Warriors. Alot of their mobs have a secondary ranged attack but they only use it once or twice before swamping you with melee.
  6. I loved this Arc, Dr. Aeon got it right on the winner again.

The writing was fantastic, and more importantly it was fun to play through.
  7. I would not go see it.

Like Memphis Bill, the interest in the game to me is my character not the Mary Sues of the developers. I think many of the story elements in the game are corny, half-planned or just not very interesting, so a movie about those things would be boring to me.
  8. Rularuu because they're so alien and the PPD because it feels so villainous when you fight the real forces of law and order. I wish the PPD was as developed blueside as it is redisde, it would be so cool to watch a PPD Guardian duke it out with a Malta Titan on the street.
  9. Ok, I've never RPd before but I've always wanted to so I'll give this a shot. I'll bring along Sunlancer, a lvl 14 Peacebringer I have whose background has him being a rookie cop who volunteered to join a Kheldian.

In-game name is Cullexus. Just tell me when and where we start.
  10. Yeah this is a bad idea. Level 50 is overrated, my only lvl 50 toon is pretty much gathering dust at the bottom of the toon list.

I don't know about you but, as a resident of Mexico City, I've been able to buy every booster pack and even pre-purchase GR without any issue. I guess our definition of Latin America isn't exactly like NCSoft's.
  12. I discovered that double XP + Redside = No real progress

  13. Quantrell, my DP/Dark Corruptor

    Silver Eyes, my DP/EM Blaster
  14. I would redesign Malta as a Illuminati-like secret society that focuses on exterminating all superhumans. I'd also put them on the same level of power as Nemesis and Arachnos. As a matter of fact, I'd replace most of the high-level Nemesis arcs with Malta.

I would make some of the gangs to be proxies of some of the major players. The Hellions would be ultimately controlled by the CoT, the Skulls by the BP, similar to how the Lost are tied to the Rikti.

Some factions would show up more as mercenaries than as cabals with their own agenda. The Knives would show up in arcs and mobs of factions like Malta, Arachnos, or Council, maybe even Wyvern. The Carnies, the Tsoo, the midnighters (as a hero-side version of this), and Vahzilok would also lend their services to other groups.

I would also give Rularuu more arcs based outside the shard. I always looked at this group as the CoX equivalent of Cthulhu and the Old Ones. An ancient and mysterious force that develops cults to Rularuu on Earth in order to break down his magical barriers.
  15. I got two, both waiting on the pistols power sets.
  16. For me a character comes alive when I've come up with a concept that I like, usually before creating them in the game bur sometimes after playing them a bit.

One reason I've had trouble playing blasters and defenders is that I had never come up wirth a good idea for one of these ATs. I had made a Kin defender only because of what I had read about kins being useful and by seeing how teams always wanted a kin to join. But the one I have has never really clicked with me. I've never been able to come up with a bio for him or just really inmmerse myself in the toon, and it's because there just isn't a concept behind him, I made him solely because Kins are L33t.

I had the same trouble with blasters. None of them made it past level 12, until I decided I wanted to create a Natural origin ranged atacker that didn't use Assault Rifle as his primary.
I eventually came up with the concept of a marooned alien that uses his specie's inherent psionic powers to fight crime. Ans so my currently level 20 Eng/Mind Blaster was born, and I love playing him as much as I did my main at that level.
  17. Yeah, I agree that good names are still very much available.

Just this month I've managed to snag (and on Virtue, no less) some pretty useful mythical names that you would've thought were taken 5 years ago.

Also, the good'ol trick of putting together two nouns never fails. You can get some pretty good names that way.

I got the following names on Virtue, along with the aformentioned mythical ones:

    Ghostlancer
    Sunlancer
    Captain Daystar
    Hammer King

I threw back 3 of them because the character concept changed and I didn't want them anymore. Are those heroic enough for you?

    Dual Handguns Epic.
Forcefields defence set using graphics like the existing Forcefields.
A Gravity Blast set, a sort of cross between Gravity Control and Forcefields, but it's a Blast set.
Radiation melee set, possibly a Radiation defence set to go with it.
Some kind of Radiation manipulation set, while we're at it.
    Archery epics of some kind.
A Light blast/manipulation/melee/defence set, possibly more.
Gadgets control set of some sort. We already have enough powers to put one together, in fact.

As far as proliferation goes, I am sad and disappointed that I've seen Broadsword asked for Tankers, but not Battle Axe and War Mace for Scrappers. Come on, guys!
If you were being sarcastic in this list then either I don't know sarcasm or you don't, because alot of those are already in game or absurdly redundant.

However, I do agree with Polearm melee (you could mix it with spears and your two-handed hammer idea) and Gadgets as a primary control power. I like it when the origin of a toon makes sense with its powers and AT and a Natural human controller would make more sense with a Gadgets control power.

  19. Yeah yeah yeah, cry me a river.

You don't want players to "be where the people are"?
If you wan't to solo through the whole game or trawl for other players to team up for half an hour every time, that's your problem, don't try to push it on two new guys just because they don't care for your personal crusade to save all the servers as if they were beached whales.
  20. What problem? Is your server empty? You can't form a full team for your Posi TF?

Then move, don't blame it on us.

Of course some servers have low populations, what did you expect from a six year old game?
  21. I'll have to agree with Virtue and Freedom being the fullest, but freedom has the larger villain population of the two (by far). Victory also has its population and it's considered a good server for Task Forces.
  22. Wow. If I was bored with a game, I just up and quit that very moment. You folks honestly keep paying 15 bucks every month for a game you stopped having fun with just because of the slim hope of a new screenshot or some tidbit of info?
  23. For me it's Blasters and anything with a shield.

I get bored with blasters easily for some reason, but I've now managed to get one to level 20 without feeling like its a chore to play him.

And as for the shields, I just never got around to using them until now. The character is only 3 levels old so I might just forget about him in a while.
  24. Since the devs have been Rikti-fied, their fingers are too big and thick to work the keyboards.

I, for one, welcome our new chubby-fingered alien overlords.

And I'm a mouthy person, too, so I incur wrath pretty much at the drop of a hat. I've basically had to fight people tooth and nail until they realise I'm stubborn, at which point reasonable people tend to come in and take it from there, but my first impressions of almost every other game's board has been like it's populated by little kids acting big with the occasional adult who only gets off his chair if someone makes a point about it.

Here, while we have our fair share of idiots, jerks and internet bullies, at least I feel the community is a lot more responsible and a lot wiser. And, in general, I feel safer to speak out without making seven backup plans about what I'm going to do if I get any one of the dozen variants of unpleasant responses. Around here, as long as you're cool about it, you can dare to be stupid and people will be nice enough to play along, within reason. I don't feel like I have to be on my guard all the time, and I like that. A LOT.
This has been exactly my experience as well. I haven't been around here long but with what little I've seen here I can safely say that these forums and the in-game community is way friendlier and much more mature than in other online games and game forums I've been in; even EvE Online, which reportedly has the highest average of players over 20 years of age (or something like that, I don't remember the exact statistic) has some very bitter and annoying players in it and in its official forum.
