The Tanker you worked hard making nigh-unkillable, to never have to run from anything, is now slaughtered by cat girls and runs from blue bubble patches. Soon, they'll also be slaughtered by guard towers and run from mass-produced household cleaning appliances.

This is your crowning moment of awesome: being a scratching post for a lazy cat girl or getting stuck down by a Roomba while beating up abused prisoners/mental patients.

It's like my comic book dreams come true...?
Oh yes, what hath Positron wrought?
  3. I tanked her with my Inv/DB tank and did pretty well only because on of the giant warwalkers was also being taunted by me, bobcat sill landed ocassional heavy hits but our healer did a good job patching me up. My tank is softcapped when fighting two opponents but not one, so when my team killed the waralker and left me only tanking bobcat I didn't last very long. 4-5 hits was all I could take.

I asked my team if I could pull one of the mob groups with me along while I tanked her again but they were too worried about being aggroed by them while they focused on bobcat.

Still, I must say that was a very good fight and a worthy end to that TF.
  4. Ah, nothing like some good 'ol pedantry to start the day, right?

If it says level 50 +1, that means I'm level 51.

I'm not going to fall for the dev's hamfisted attempt at trying to avoid adding more levels to the game with this whole "level shift" BS. I'm level 51, when the next incarnate slot gives me another level shift I'll be level 52 and so on.

    You want to say you're a level 50 +1 or a level-shifted character? Then go for it. I won't.
  5. Yeah, Gravity/Energy dominators are pretty good.

As for me, I am making a point to not re-use powersets on my alts so I can play the most sets. However, my preferences do tend towards melee - scrappers are the most common of my alts - and I seem to come up with more character concepts that use Fire Melee, Superstrength, Katana, or Shield Defense.
  6. Ok, I've managed to look up mine:

You can tell Monster Island and its badges were made with Brutes in mind.

I'm guessing the Shadow Shard badge descriptions are supposed to represent the things Rularuu supposedly whispers in your mind while in the dimension.

  7. Many of us usually complain about the low quality of writing, dialog, and story that goes into the game.

Not all of it is bad though, there are some pretty good little gems in the game that stand out.

What line of dialogue, story narration, or maybe description in the game is you're favorite?

I'll post mine later because I'm having trouble loading the wiki to get the exact quotes, but basically mine are the badge descriptions from Monster Island (especially Roar of the Beast) and the scene in Twilight Son's TF where the old-timey retired hero tries to stop the Circle of Thorns sorcerer (I always thought his dialogue was a little corny but oh so heroic)

Edit: BTW, anything good you found in an AE arc counts.

I'd rather see different story arcs for heroes and villans which could be mechanically co-op but with differing objectives. The heroes trying to save the natives of the Shard and the villains taking advantage of them.
I like this but I think they should take it a step further. I think a great idea would be to have new Hero content be more focused on teaming (new TFs, new raids) and new villain content be more solo-friendly (new story-arcs like the one described in the OP). That's not to say that each should be totally exclusive. Villains should get new TFs (the Captain Nemo SF is a genius idea, IMO) and Heroes, frankly, need better story-arcs, but I think they should develop more along these lines.
  9. I've always imagined them being dropped off at emergencies by personnel from one the the different organizations they supposedly become members of during play (Vanguard, Midnighters, Freedom Corps, tc.), either on a helicopter or a transport truck.

Yeah, me too. Frankly this endgame isn't bad at all for me, I wanted something team-based for my 50 to do and I have it. I even enjoy the Shard Grind (It's laughable to call what we have to do to get shards a 'grind', but whatever).
  11. I'd go with a Dominator. My En/Grav is very good at both crowd control and taking out groups of mobs fast, and it's only level 9.
  12. Well, playing almost exclusively on virtue, I'm surprised I could still snag a mythical name like Pallas.

Other names I can't believe I could snag so late in the game's life:

    Jaguar Man
    Ghostwolf
    Sunlancer
    Bodhisattva
    Daystar
    Serpent King

It seems if you fuse the words together (i.e. Ghostwolf instead of Ghost Wolf) you have a much better chance of finding a good name.
  13. Here's two that use very little of the new pack but that I think show how it combines well with the rest of the costume pieces in the game:

Direcat. The only animal parts here are the head.

Jaguar Man. Here only the tights pattern is part of the pack.

Yeah, it's not very versatile when it comes to mixing and matching with other pieces without making an anthropomorphic toon but I still think this pack is more than the "furry pack".
  14. I'm really sorry that the Paragonian Knights are calling it quits but the fact is that it happened due to inactivity, not because Grae Knight left.

I was a member until about two months ago and I left because I was usually the only one logged on, with the occasional member maybe keeping me company on the roster. And the most people I ever saw logged into the private channel? A whopping 3.

But it's not anyone's fault that it folded due to inactivity, it's just something that happens to every SG eventually. I feel this game tends to suffer it more often due to the fact that since it's so Alt-friendly, people usually don't spend alot of time on their SG'd toons. I think that maybe when you join an SG with one character it should give you the option to include every existing toon in the server as well.
  15. My main's would be her helmet. According to her backstory, it was Athena's own helm and the source of all my main's powers.
  16. This is my main

And here's one I switched to redside after the bio was made

Statesman tried to sell this game as a "team game", and the customers he got made a pretty clear message that they were sick of "team games" and wanted to feel a bit more super while playing at superheroes - so the dev team got it right when they designed villains, making the ATs far more "stand on your own". As long as he was here, however, he kept trying to push that "team game" concept, and it never took hold.

He's gone now, and the game's better than it's ever been. The era of "team game" is long past, and it's high time folks stopped trying to use that as an excuse to be jerks to people that disagree with them.
Wow, you really need to lighten up. You're more like the people you hate (and what strong word that is) than you know.
  18. Are you telling me Samuel_Tow actually played with other people on a team?

Too bad he had such a lousy experience, though.
  19. For me TFs are still the best part of the game. Maybe you've had bad luck on teams recently.

Peril of the Praetorians has a nice ring to it, and I like that the crosshairs are right on Rhode Island.

So the io's are optional argument is over! They are not.
You don't have to farm for them at all or even put any extra effort beyond playing in a team.

I've never farmed a thing in this game and all of my toons have pretty decent IOs and IO sets, and they all got them from the inf they made from TFs and teams.

End-game content is optional but if you chose the option to actually play it, then don't be surprised that you have to actually put some effort into it. Everything good will cost you, and it's not always going to be just money.

Make just a few of the really cool things available to me without having to meta-game, power-build and get a team. I realise you can already get Incarnate Shards while solo, and I applaud you for that, but please make the unlock more solo-friendly, too.

Yeah, that was easier to compose than I thought.
You'll have to cry me a river before I start caring for loners, anti-socials, and shy folks who can't play with other people because of their personal hangups. The game's simplistic enough as it is without the devs bending over backwards more than they already do for people like you.
  23. My main's name is Pallas and it's pronounced "palace"

Other oddly named toons of mine:

    Zocalo = SOW-cah-low

    Ciuhualcoatl = see-WALL-co-AT-uhl

    Bodhisattva = bow-dee-SAT-vuh
  24. The problem isn't finding a name, the problem is finding a name someone else hasn't found first.

    That said:

    Death Weta
  25. My heroes are all on Virtue, villains on Freedom and preatorians on Justice. After that they are stacked according to how often I play them.
