    Sound FXs...

Every time some player or NPC gets thrown off a building or over a ledge or cliff, there should be a 10% chance that they will emit a Wilhelm scream.

    Ha. What a joke.

Playing at level 1 is the absolute best! That is where it is hardcore.
  4. I keep reading the thread title as "Beat Mastery". I was thinking... what, a rhythm based set? How does that even work?

I didn't get enough sleep last night.
  5. I was on rather early this morning doing some DA missions, and then I tended to my auctions on several of my alts before I logged out and started getting ready for work.

I guess when I get home, I'll be watching more Stargate SG-1 on Netflix. Finally watching all those episodes in order!

Well I can maybe give an example with Alchemical Silver, and I guess I'll just own up to my attempts to manipulate its price over the past two years or so, lol.

OK, so once upon a time I noticed that AS was always in decent demand, and I was almost always able to buy for a lower price and sell for a higher price. The thing that bothered me a little though was that, at the time I started doing this, the supply available on the market was always higher than the perceived demand; that is, the number outstanding bids was almost always lower than the amount of AS that were for sale. I was pretty sure that players' perceptions of supply and demand was almost as important as the actual supply and demand, so I decided to try something and see how true that was.

I took every unplayed or seldom played alt I had on every server and made chump bids of 1 inf, all on Alchemical Silver. I got my friend to do so as well, who wasn't playing very often at the time. That totally pushed up the apparent demand way higher than what was available on the market.

In 2009 and 2010, I was constantly buying AS up in stacks of 10 for ~50k each, and easily selling them for at least ~100k each, though often times even more that. This was how I managed to make my first 2 billion inf a couple of years ago. It didn't hurt that I was playing the game quite a lot back when either, lol.

In March of last year, I stopped playing the game and I cancelled my subscription, but I left up all those chump bids and I pretty much didn't care about it. I restarted by subscription last October, and one of the first things I did was check up what was going on with Alchemical Silver. While the demand was still kinda high, the price had plummeted. I later learned that in the months between my departure and re-arrival, someone else tried to drive its price down by basically glutting the auction house with an overabundant supply of them. While the price has since inched back up since then, it still hasn't returned to the prices I'd left it at in March of last year.

A curious thing: Recently I've decided to pretty much abandon Alchemical Silver salvage, as it's just not as lucrative as it used to be. As such, I went and cancelled all of those chump bids on all my alts (and most of the bids from my friend's account, who's since gone Premium). Even accounting for the bids that could not be cancelled due to my friend's Premium account locking out some of his characters, there was still quite a high apparent demand on Alchemical Silver. I'm pretty sure someone else out there has a whole lot of possibly chump bids on it. I also noticed they were using the same "staggering" buy and sell technique I'd adopted. I don't think I'd have noticed that if I hadn't stopped doing it myself. Hmm.

    And now you know!

  9. How about... I don't know, Power 10 common IOs? Level 50 maybe. Or 25... or both?

I'd want to include all items that have always been in high demand, such as the LotG unique. Even if its supply is going up thanks to multiple ways of getting it, I doubt that will make players want it any less, so the demand for it will still be the same.

Also... maybe you can find out once and for all just what exactly is going on with Alchemical Silver salvage... >.>

I don't see anything in that spreadsheet saying that you can use a catalyst on an ATO that is already purple, or that you could use catalysts multiple times on a single ATO (To do what? increase its power? I've love to know!). It only says that ATOs use catalysts as a modifier.

EDIT: Oh wait, that wasn't what that other guy was asking. D'oh! Nevermind...

Heroes have always had the satisfaction of saving the day, even when they don't get to save ALL of the day.

What bugs me is, now that heroes got a taste of how it felt to play villainside, they all got their undies in a wad and demanded that this never happen again.

    I'll ask again: Disparity much?
Well, villains do get to successfully rob banks quite often?

    Yeah... that's still rather lopsided.

There's also the villain morality missions. I thought some of them were pretty interesting. But I think you're right in that that's still not enough.

I think the heroes of Paragon City need to be reminded that if it weren't for all those villains scheming their schemes and doing their dastardly deeds, those heroes would have pretty much nothing at all to do.

    Villains: keeping heroes in business!

I think our villains in DA would want to find their own god to wake up and fight against Mot, or try to sic Hamidon on him. Something crazy like that, that no sane hero would even consider because it's on a par with such brilliant plans as defeating global warming by causing a nuclear winter. But a villain or rogue doing hero work would probably not consider the potential consequences of their actions when they're hyperfocused on bringing down an ancient god. Some villains will have a callous disregard for the lives of others, where a hero in the same position would not even consider the same action out of concern for those same innocent lives. So... even if they're doing good, a villain can still do it an evil way!

Then again, you'll have other villains who will want to harness that power for themselves. I haven't gone through all the DA arcs yet (in fact I've only barely started one), but I think maybe that could be addressed in some bigger way. I hope maybe it will be later.
  14. I'm also wondering why Mot would be sleeping under a cemetery somewhere in Paragon City. That's kind of like if Quetzalcoatl was found snoozing under the Hagia Sophia.
  15. I'll admit I'm not entirely up on the entirety of CoH lore, but I do believe that Mot was a real god once actually worshiped by the Canaanites?

It makes me wonder if this is the pantheon that was banished. Does this mean we might see an appearance by Ba'al and Qetesh?

Why am I suddenly reminded of Stargate SG-1?

Since someone already answered you truthfully, I'll give you something I totally made up. Because I like the idea.

You have to find the magic unicorn. He only shows up rarely in spawns of five or more. He'll con as a foe but it's important that you don't damage him at all. You can kill the other foes that spawned with him. You must sit there and let him attack you. Once you are down to almost no HP (and the magic unicorn is also at full HP), he will suddenly con friendly. You have a small window in which to click on him then for a random reward before he suddenly heals you to full health and then despawns. You have a chance of getting a converter, then.
  17. Now, imagine the anguish on these boards if they had not caught this error and it launched live like that. You'd collect a bunch of converters and then start to use them while imagining the riches you'll collect on the market and then suddenly... poof! Nothing. Nada. Zip. The converters are wasted. Maybe even worse is if the IO also disappeared.

The complaints about them not being live are nothing compared to that.

If this is true, then my own creations are very much alive, with respect to my atheism. That previous sentence feels like such a contradiction, lol! But what I really meant was that I have an original creation, with original characters and a world I am building around them. And it's based on a rather powerful fantasy that I've had a very long time. So... there you go!

If it's a pile of steaming wossname, I haven't really noticed. My bots/traps MM has been able to pretty much shred through almost everything this game can throw at me. Then again, I think I felt that way about it back when only SOs were available. Maybe I'll notice this deficiency with my thugs/poison MM.

  25. All these cries of doom over the exploit fix are really making me laugh. And that's "exploit fix" and not "nerf", you oughtta know!

It's not like they never said this was going get addressed eventually. What a true sense of entitlement it is then, that some people would expect to be somehow compensated.

What's even better (or maybe worse) is that the few voices of reason about it on this board get totally dogpiled on with shouts of "Shut up! It's a nerf! Shut up! I want my Hami-O's back!" LOL

Seeing all the HO prices tank on the player market is hyperbole in action. Time for me to buy up a whole lotta nucs so I can put them in my snipe attacks. Which need a lot of accuracy and damage, which is what nucs were meant for, BTW.
