For the record: When telling us what your character is, we don't need to know their origin. It doesn't matter at all for any of the questions you're likely to ask about them.
-
I don't see any glaringly obvious mistakes.
Not sure I'd put so many End Reductions in your defense shields, I'd probably move those slots to Energy Drain so you can have it up more often to keep your end topped up instead. It also buffs your defense, so it's a win/win.
I'd replace the Miracles in Energize with Doctored Wounds for the recharge bonus.
You don't need to add slots to Swift and Hurdle, the default slot is fine. Put those slots somewhere more useful, like maybe your passive resistance powers. In fact, I'd slot those up with 3 Aegis for the Fire/Cold defense it gives you.
That's about all I have without plugging the build into Mids'. Hope it helps. -

I hate to dredge up this thread, but I just wanted to mention that my posts in this one fulfilled my journal requirements in the English Comp class I'm taking.
So, it accomplished something at least -
Try posting a Data Chunk instead of a link. The link doesn't work for everyone.
Also, a lot of people don't use Mids', or don't have access to it from where they are viewing your post at. Try actually posting the build too. -
Quote:The point made about needing Acrobatics was entirely valid at the time it was made. The post was from 2005, there were no such thing as KB protection IOs then. You either took Acrobatics or got to be a pinball. No? I have acrobatics, and I have turned it on exactly twice. My 4pt kb defense IO is more than sufficient with my over-softcap ranged/melee. KB on trials is trivial. I was expecting it to be much worse, but really, I get knocked down maybe once every 3 mishs. This may be because of my very high defense. YMMV.
edit: Oh crap, sorry for responding to a necropost. Point still stands.
This zombie shall soon be returned to its grave, just wanted to chime in on that point. -
I don't have the time to go into detail right now (on my break at work), but I will also extend the invitation to shoot me a tell if you have any questions.
My global name is @Claws and Effect. I'm pretty knowledgeable, but I don't know everything (in spite of what some of my forum posts would have you believe), and I'll be happy to share what I DO know with you.
There's no rhyme or reason to my gaming schedule, so I really can't tell you when I'll be online. But if I get a tell from you I'll be sure to answer it. You can also send people offline tells, which means they will get your message when they log in next. I've carried on conversations over the course of a month or so with people that way. -
I might throw a character into the ring for this.

Quote:BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!I assume that the posters on this board are not childish, I therefore assume that every personal attack or other content free comment is an acknowledgement that I am right and the poster simply does not want to admit it.
Yes dug, you got us. We've realized that you are the ONLY person that knows how to properly play this game and we're jealous.
Please tell us how to play some more!
(This is called "sarcasm", for those readers unfamiliar with it's use.) -
I'm still betting that Sister Psyche dies or goes nuts and Manticore becomes more of a true vigilante, or an outright villain.

Quote:They ARE all equally useful, by the only metric that means a damn thing: They are other people that I enjoy playing the game with, regardless of what AT they happen to be playing at the time. And to be blunt, I really don't give the south end of a northbound rat what you think about it.While it is nice to get a lot of responses, it is clear by the large number of personal attacks and lack of specificity that most responders have no clue and are simply saying what they think they should say. Every character is a unique and precious snowflake. Every AT is awesome. All AT's are equal.
Of course that is simply stupid, and pretending that it is so does not make you wise or knowledgeable.
There is no way that a scrapper is as useful on a team as a defender or corruptor, unless the defender or cor are incredibly incompetent. I know scrappers do not like to hear that. They like to think that everyone is thrilled when a scrapper joins the team, but in fact they are just filler.
If you disagree with me, list in order the usefulness of AT's on a team. If you say they are all equally useful, you are either delusional or lying.
You strike me as the kind of person who would tell their best friend to get stuffed if he wanted to join your team with a scrapper.
Sorry, your insistence that only certain ATs have any purpose on a team is what is stupid here.
There are other things here that are stupid as well, but I'll just leave it at that.
Do both us and yourself a favor: Stop making forums posts in which you tell everyone who plays the game different than you that they are doing it wrong.
Have you noticed you're not especially popular on the forums? I wonder why that could possibly be? -
Quote:And the Defender or Corruptor might not have buffs either.I have known many controllers which take no buffs. Want buffs? find a Defender or Corruptor.
Quote:You get one Judgement attack every friggin' half-hour.
Quote:Why are you so obsessed with AoE damage, anyway? There is still much to be had from ST. -
Are you married to the idea of Energy Mastery?
Because you can softcap E/N defense if you take a different APP.
Take an APP that has a hold in it and slot the hold with 2 Basilisk's Gaze and 3 Thunderstrike. Or alternately, you can take Pyre Mastery and slot Char with just the 2 BG and 6 slot Fire Blast with 3 Devastation and 3 Thunderstrike so you gain the soft cap without losing your regen and max HP bonuses.
You lose a little bit of regen and Max HP anyway, but slotting that way and adding Maneuvers will allow you to almost reach the Incarnate Soft Cap with Storm Kick.

Quote:This is a good point.This is amusing.
The arguably most over-powered AT in the game gets less of a boost than other AT's - Big Deal. I am not a nerf herder and don't want brutes lowered - but my god man they are getting boosted even though they are at the top edge of balanced. In some ways they are unbalanced.
Stalkers and Tankers just are at the far other end of balance and they get a better boost.
This is called FAIR - balancing AT's in an MMO you would think it never happened before - in a related note Regen is due to be nerfed again.............
I would have been VERY surprised if Brutes got an ATO proc that increased anything significantly.
The AT is a little overpowered already. It's perfectly fair that the ATs that are already borderline overpowered don't get as much of a boost as some of the others. Scrappers go from 5% crit chance to 6% crit chance and that's being seen as far better than what brutes get?
And for the record, Stalkers are getting shafted again. How? They are getting changed to be able to use Assassin Strike as a Superior damage regular attack when not in Hide, and their ATO will put them in Hide when it procs. So, you'll run through your attack chain and instead of the fast Superior AS you thought you were going to use, the proc fires and you get the 4 second interruptible AS instead. -
Honestly, if you're set on making a scrapper without Hasten or the Fighting Pool, FIery Aura is easily the squishiest possible set you could choose.
Cons:
-It has no native defense powers, so you'll be getting hit quite frequently.
-It has lower base resistances than a tank, so you'll be taking 70% of the damage of what you get hit by.
-It has no taunt aura for scrappers, meaning one of the best powers in the set will be less useful (Burn)
-No KB protection, making Acrobatics mandatory if you aren't going to use IOs.
Pros:
-You'll put out a LOT of damage. Especially after you get Fiery Embrace.
-You have one of the better self rezzes in the game, which doesn't require enemies in range to work. (unlike Soul Transfer)
Now, I frequently skip Hasten myself and it doesn't really hurt me that much, but I like to have the Fighting pool on any melee character I make.
You're very much going to be forced into he playstyle of "kill them before they kill you" which is going to get a little rough prior to level 38 and getting your self rez.
I won't tell you not to play it, just wanted to make sure you know what you're getting into before you do. Fiery Aura can be an amazing set when you add pool powers and IOs, but on just SOs alone it's at the bottom of the scrapper heap as far as survivability goes. On SOs even Regen survives better. But you will have damage, there's no doubt about that. -
Quote:Medicine pool is completely unneeded on a Fiery Aura, as it has one of the best self heals in the game.
- No Hasten
- No Medicine Pool
- No Fighting Pool
- Only Single Origin Enhancements. No IOs.
However, skipping Hasten and the Fighting pool are going to hurt.
And with no IOs at all, you're going to need to run Acrobatics to not get knocked around like a pinball, so your travel power is pretty much chosen for you.
If you are planning on sticking to those requirement regardless of the outcome.....take Rise of the Phoenix and slot it for recharge, because you'll end up using it a lot. -
If you're planning on running a lot of BAFs (still the most fequently run trial) I'd stick with the controller. It's more useful in the escape phase than the corruptor would be. It can lock down pretty much a whole set of doors by itself.
The upcoming I22 change to controller containment damage in trials will be a boon too. Double damage versus the AVs at all times, instead of just when enough people stack holds on them. -
Quote:2 things about that.Whenever I see the defence godmodes I seriously wonder if the Devs at the time knew how defence works.
For me to take Elude they'd not only have to get rid of some of the crash but also let it give me some benefit on a softcapped build (even SO builds will often be softcapped while on teams, so their supposed Godmodestill only hurts them).
1) When Elude was designed, IOs didn't exist. There basically were no softcapped SRs other than the Perma Elude ones (it used to be possible). Scrappers didn't take Tough and Weave back then, or Maneuvers.
2) When it was designed, no one knew what the soft cap WAS, because they didn't give us the numbers behind the powers until almost 4 years later.
They knew exactly how defense works. But at the time, the PLAYERS didn't know how it worked. They just knew " I toggle these powers on and I get hit less often" -
Got helped by a Broadsword/Katana before. That was interesting. He spent more time drawing his sword than he did attacking.
-
It didn't bother me that he died.
I was unhappy with HOW he died, most definitely. But it made sense.
Gotta give Wade credit for doing his homework. Now I'm looking forward to the opportunity to gut him like a trout. Not because he killed Statesman. Because I just don't like him. -
Quote:Only if they hadn't purchased Going Rogue separately. Also if it wasn't mentioned before, VIP's get access to Going Rogue for free with their sub but lose access to it when they cancel their subs.
If you didn't have it before and got it free with your subscription, you do indeed lose it.
But if you bought it before Freedom launched, or paid for it separately with PP, you keep access to Praetoria and the side switching mechanic at least. I think you can still earn alignment merits as well, but without access to IOs they aren't worth that much. -
