  1. Fire/Fire played like a complete nutjob with no regard for his own safety. If the team is good you will stay alive and put out truly sick damage numbers.

I have to add a mention here for Fallout from the radiation set. I admit that is can be very useful in the right situation but I dislike the idea of a power that I can only use when an ally dies.

Hm, this could be the perfect choice for playing with those people who don't know what their doing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I disagree with this one. I LOVE Fallout. Especially on teams where they expect me to be the primary or only healer, and have no clue how to work with Rad toggle debuffs. Anytime I join a PuG the first thing I tell the team is: I am not responsible for deaths resulting from the premature killing of anchors, but if it happens I have Fallout.

I also have a policy of not following anyone around to keep them alive with my pathetic heal, I have better things I could be doing.

I saw a group of electric blasters/defenders drain Lusca before. There is a video of it somewhere.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I don't know if one single character can drain a GM, but I know it can be done by as few as two, as I've been one of the two who did it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It is possible. However, it takes so long to do by yourself that if the AV or GM isn't dead by then you have bigger problems than endurance drain.

As far as I am aware it can only be done by: Kin/Electric defender, Electric/Kin corruptor, Elecrtic/Electric and Electric/Energy blasters. Electric/Thermal and Electric/Cold corruptors may be able to, but I don't know if they could do it solo because one of the powers they use is on a very long recharge.
  4. I like Vyriss's the best.

I don't generally share my costume ideas, but if I remember I'll play around in the costume creator and try to throw you something.
  5. Invasions still happen when a team completes the Lady Grey Task Force.

What someone else said also rings true. If something special starts happening too often it ceases being special.
  6. Oh, it's not difficult. I just like putting short missions together with insane power combos, and then telling the farmers in the Atlas AE building about it. They always get one starred, but it amuses me to read the feedback I get.

The other day I'm on with my 50 fire/kin i get a blind invite. I've got my flag set to lft, so, even though it's not how I prefer to make contact, fair enough. I join up and start checking my teammates out. Sure enough, they're between level 6 and 10, lots of AE badges, no veteran badges.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I got one of these too, on my main scrapper, a level 50 claws/regen. I accepted and told them I would only join the team if they let me set the mission. They passed me the star and I set a MA mission full of Malta, with my difficulty set on Invincible. They all quit and reformed their team less than halfway through the mission. The guy who blind invited me sent me a tell saying: "You suck, that's too HARD"

    Stun Meister

    I concur with Dr Mike

Energy Melee and Dark Armor combined will have more stun potential than anything else.
  8. I like the gloves, I just hate the fact that I cannot get the colors to match up. I had a character who was dressed in dark red with black and gold trim. The main checkered pattern was dark red and the boots, shoulders, and gloves were black with gold trim. When I applied that color scheme to the gloves the checker pattern that I wanted to match up with the dark red on the rest of the costume turned yellow and there was nothing I could do about it. This was with the baggy version of the Valkyrie pattern btw, I used the whole set. looked great except for the glove colors.
  9. The only time KB is a problem for my melee characters is this:

When I am fighting a mob and you are fighting a different mob, do NOT switch targets just to send mine flying before your target is defeated.

A lot of people seem to do that in the belief that they are "saving" me. My scrapper does not need saving thank you, and if I get in that far over my head, knocking my target a block away isn't going to help.
  10. The most fun powerset is the one used by whatever character I log into. If I don't find it fun, I delete the character. Some days I feel like scrapping, but my exact mood determines which scrapper will be the most fun for me. Other days I want to defend or corrupt, another day I might want to tank.

Take ANY combination of anything in the game and there is SOMEONE who finds it the most fun thing in the game.
  11. For the Cyborg legs I use Piston Boots.
  12. I try really hard to make my characters legs flow with the rest of the costume. The major problem I've been running into is: Even if you use the same pattern and the same colors, the colors don't match up. You could have a vibrant red on the torso and go to make a pair of boots the same color and it looks washed out, like they left their boots in the sun and they faded. And it's not even consistent, some boots do it, some don't. The Justice boots are a great example. Try and make then as red as your chest piece, you can't do it because the boots look faded.

Just pointing out that the legs looking like crap isn't always the players fault.

You obviously missed Meow farms. With those, a bunch of newbies with terrible builds could get to 50 in a matter of hours.

It's darkly satisfying to watch a bunch of farmers run into the latest Meow-wannabe and get slaughtered.

If you want to get a real team, try asking in your server forum about getting on global channels, learn to use the Find Member function, and get the hell outta Atlas.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Heh, I made an arc that at first glance looks like a farm. With the exception that the custom critters will slaughter you unless you have either high defense or fire resistance.

....and then you get to the end and fight an Illusion/FF AV set to Extreme. I changed the last AV because *I* couldn't even beat him. I'm thinking about changing it back and unleashing it on the unsuspecting farmers

"Hey, great farm arc here, it's number (left blank because it's not done yet), have fun with it!"

    Yes, I'm mean.

I had another idea. An arc entitled "In Soviet Russia AE Farms YOU."

All LTs with Mind Control or Illusion. Didja know that LTs get Confuse and Decieve on Standard difficulty with those two sets? I have all kinds of nasty tricks up my sleeve to make MA missions literally impossible. I just generally don't use them because I like running my own arcs, and don't want to kill myself over and over.

    Amy's Ward

Ah, I haven't summoned her in a normal (non-MA) mish in quite a while. (nothing has been difficult enough to need her)

They'll fix it....eventually. Until then I just know that if I summon her she will buff me to the gills and then attack me.
  15. ClawsandEffect

    Amy's Ward

Yeah, I ran into this problem as well. Were you in an AE mission or a normal one? I had problems in AE missions with her.

I thought it was kind of funny that she'd hit me with Lightning Bolt and then heal away the damage she just did. Then she put Fortitude on me and couldn't hit me anymore because she pushed my defense over the soft cap.

    Info Question

What they're talking about is one of the benefits of the 60 month (5 year) vet badge. Normally in order to use the power Teleport you have to take either Recall Friend or TP Foe first. When you get to 60 months you don't have to take the first power anymore, you can just jump straight to Teleport. All of the travel powers work like that, not just teleport.

That would be costume piece recipes. They can drop off of anything in the game after level 10, as long as it is at least green to you. The way that works is: If you get a recipe and have the salvage you need to craft it, the character that crafted it gets access to that particular set of wings or boots at the tailor. And they actually aren't that expensive anymore, comparatively speaking.

Also important to note - Wings do NOT automatically grant you the ability to fly, they are just costume pieces. If you have the power Fly they animate when you use it, but that is all.

    Edit: spelling

Thank for the info and so you know im my scrapper is DM/FA.

[/ QUOTE ] Question, do you plan on running the ITF a lot? If not, you can safely lose 3% of that defense and not miss it most of the time. If you run the ITF a lot then the extra defense might do you some good, although since you don't have any defense debuff resistance cascading defense failure is likely.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's a good reason to run defense 6% higher than it needs to be.

    Dm question

Good luck figuring out which targets it procced on, if any. Might be worthwhile in Death Shroud
  20. ClawsandEffect

    /Dark sucks?

You all must not spam attacks as fast as I do then. I can run a regen out of end. With Stamina.
  21. ClawsandEffect

    Damage auras?

I don't have experience with a DA brute, but I have a DA scrapper at 50.

Neither Cloak of Fear or Oppressive Gloom affect LTs or bosses. What they DO do is take minions out of the fight so you can beat on the LTs and bosses without having to worry about them. If you take Dark Armor on a brute I would say pair it with a primary that builds fury quickly, as minions will not be attacking you to build it for you.
  22. For single target damage I'd have to go with DM/SR or DM/SD. Not the greatest at burst damage, but the DPS gets insane if you have enough targets for Soul Drain. DM/SR has the slight advantage of being cheaper to soft-cap and has a built in recharge buff. DM/SD gets even more of a damage boost in a crowd.

For AoE, I'd say the above posters are right on the money.
  23. ClawsandEffect

    /Dark sucks?

I still do the toggle juggle. If I'm fighting something that does nothing but smashing or lethal I'll turn Murky Cloud off, since in that situation it's doing nothing but burning endurance. I do the same with Dark Embrace in the reverse situation. Just don't see the point to leaving a toggle on that isn't benefiting me at all. My BS/DA also isn't completely IOed yet, so my endurance recovery isn't quite as good as I'd like it to be at this point either.

I leave Cloak of Darkness off most of the time, I use it for ghosting more often than not anyway. Since I'm usually grabbing agro for my wife's controller or blaster being invisible isn't the best plan.
  24. PvP zones are only if your side is in control. And I want to say it's only in Siren's Call.

Not sure about Pocket D, never seen em there.

Grandville and the Shadow Shard are for sure though.
  25. I never said anything about tweaking powers. I said (or at least implied) that if the APP was left exactly as it is, it would be grossly overpowered.

    [ QUOTE ]
In other words, let's see how a perma-IW blaster compares to, oh, say, a soft-capped shield scrapper.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What, as far as damage output? Survivability?

Okay, I'll bite. Perma mez protected Fire/MM/SR blaster with Quickness and nearly softcapped to all positions. You already said it would take 115% global recharge before Quickness to make PB perma, we'll go with that. How fast is that blaster's AoE chain going to recycle?

The only thing that even slows a fire/MM down is the fact that they get mezzed and can't use any of their more powerful attacks. And the fact that they draw a lot of agro to themselves. Usually this would balance out the two ATs. Now add close to softcapped defense into the equation for the blaster.

With as much recharge as it would require to perma PB, the scrapper has already lost the damage output side of the contest. That's not even a question. There is no scrapper I've ever heard of that can outdamage a Fire/MM blaster with that kind of recharge.

Now, on to where the scrapper SHOULD have the advantage. Survivability. For argument's sake we'll give both of them Aid Self. The blaster also has Drain Psyche, which I'm thinking would also be perma, or close to it. That would give the blaster nearly Regen or WP passive regeneration numbers.

Let's say the blaster is sitting at 35% defense to all. With the SR APP this should be easily reachable while retaining the recharge levels. Now the scrapper's defense is at least a full 10% higher, which should translate to a lot more survivability, right?

Not necessarily. We've established that at these levels of recharge the blaster is outdamaging the scrapper by a significant amount. A large portion of it in AoE form. The traditional method of blaster defense, killing things before they kill you, would make up the difference here.

The scrapper's defense is much higher, but he will also have to spend a lot more time in combat, giving him more time to be hit. Add in the fact that with perma or near-perma Drain Psyche the blaster will probably be regenerating faster than the scrapper as well and it would be a little skewed.

I don't think too many scrapper players would be happy to find out that the character they spent all that time and money on would have a blaster surviving just as well, while making their damage output look sad.
