They haven't announced any more yet. That doesn't necessarily mean they're done though....they haven't announced any events for this year yet.
Isn't that a bit strange? I mean, its not like the year just started?
They were getting some, not a huge amount, but some complaints it was too much last year. This is the first time since they stopped appearing at a somewhat regular basis that someone has asked for them.
If they do them too much, they're not special events. It's better, from a business point of view to hold back until there's some demand and then let them have it. It makes them look responsive, and those who do want it are eager for it.
Also, I would imagine that part of the problem of scheduling them too far in advance is that you never know if a scheduled Rikti Raid is going to interfere with a late or early Issue Release or holiday event.

Not to mention, raids can be very annoying if you're not prepared, or if they're happening all the time when you've got all the badges or just have other stuff to do.
Personally I actually like the Rikti invasions. I've been hoping we'd have more invasion weeks. I kinda miss them.

I always liked them, just thought they would be more effective if they didn't announce when there would be a lot of them, and just have a few days randomly throughout the month that the Rikti invaded. Maybe a week here, a one shot there. Just don't announce all of them. Invasions should be a surprise. I can't imagine that its that difficult for the the devs to turn it on. If posi gets bored one day, he pops on and BOOM. Invasions.

Invasions still happen when a team completes the Lady Grey Task Force.
What someone else said also rings true. If something special starts happening too often it ceases being special.

I kinda miss a schedule of events. No invasions, no double XP... will there even be a Halloween event this year?
I don't see any reason to doubt it. Halloween, and the Halloween event, come around every year. On the other hand, there could be reason to doubt further Double XP weekends now that we have patrol XP. I'm not saying there won't be any, but the people who are skeptical seem to have some valid points.

Yeah, I have to say, as universally well accepted as the calendar wallpapers were - I at least never heard anyone say they sucked, which is a rare thing in this game - I have to wonder why they didn't do it again.
I know the first set was designed around Issues and we haven't had 12 since they came out, but why not do one based around Zones, or one based on the cornerstone heroes or villains?
Was it too much of a drain on resources to have someone put these together? I would think with access to the artwork and a working knowledge of a graphics program it would take all of a couple hours to put these together, if that.
Was it too limiting to the staff? Sure people would've been up in arms if they'd changed the dates of 2xXP weekends, or the Rikti Raids, but did locking themselves into those dates for 12 months or so cause them to reschedule other important things? Did the November Rikti Raids cause I14 to be pushed back a month?
I just can't see any reason not to once again give the players something that they loved as much as they loved those calendars. Unless, the pessimist in me says, they actually have decided to do away with 2xXP weekends and the scheduled Rikti Raids, and they don't want even to take even more flak in light of the recent MA debacle and the pending release of the competion's game.

Except that has nothing to do with events being scheduled or not. It has solely to do with there not being a new sent of desktop calendar images.
I would wager real money that we will have a Halloween event and a Winter event every year as long as the game lasts. I would 'expect' also a Valentine's Day event due to strong precedent but would not be willing to bet money on it. As for Double XP Weekends..... my wild guess would be that we're about 70% likely to have these continue in the near future.
