Can you post some scheduled Zone PVP times, broadcast in Admin on each live server prior to those times that there will be PvP testing on test, and then use admin to encourage players to register forum accounts and leave their feedback?
Or maybe just do some kind of poll in the launcher about the changes? It'd be good to get more info in open beta from the large swaths of players who don't forum-browse. Just a thought! -
Yeah, I had the same reaction, they're right next to my "News" RSS feed in my nav bar.
Hmmm... -
It shows as a tohit buff in combat attributes. As far as I'm concerned, that's evidence enough.
-
Yeah LadyJ, it wasn't that hard once I got told how to change the background layer into a real layer. But I'm not really an artist, so I didn't trust my fine motor control enough to not cut into the images jankily at all. But with enough zooming, everything turned out just fine.
-
Nope, I ended up using your method actually! And then manually erasing all the whitespace pixel by pixel, that sucked.
But thanks for your help!
-
Pure HTML/CSS. I'll try going from png to gif and back, see if that solves it. Hope the image doesn't lose much fidelity.

Hey guys,
I'm trying to make some png files I have from screenshot mashups work for the fansite I'm building, but I can't get the white background to stop being opaque. I'm using photoshop CS 3, and the only place I've found to mess with transparency is in the "save for web and devices" option - and nothing I'm doing is working. Can somebody help me out? -
<QR>
This is really impressive. But I have one question -
Where's your QA guy? -
Things I'd really like to see added:
A "Training Computer" or "Simulation room" enabling you to train up in your base. Preferably with cool attackable targets like are seen in RWZ, or the crey drones in outbreak.
An Auction House interface. WW is laggy enough on its own, I don't need to stand around eighty other people firing off their autoheals while I'm just trying to finish my build.
As has been mentioned, more uses for the Mission Computer. It's a really cool thing and would incentivize many more people to move into bases. Or heck, just make all current TFs/SFs available through the mission computer, as a stopgap. That would at least make the base legitimate PvE content.
Windows. I know there are technical limitations, and I don't really expect to see them, but I'd really want to see windows with <insert background here> in bases. The whole interdimensional space thing is a very limited concept - and space stations and skyscrapers have been the realms of heroes and villains forever. Let's get that in game.
Also - please rebalance prestige requirements. They're absolutely ludicrous. I'd like to know exactly how many supergroups are in the entire game who use the largest plot size. I'll be surprised if there actually are any. -
<QR>
1. PPPs for Heroes and APPs for Villains, fairly similar to what the other sides have now.
2. A Task Force of any level that's both fairly quick and fun to run, so that people have something fast and playable to bring their 50s on (I'm talking at most a 45 minute playtime with a solid team, four or five missions)
3. Either adjusted drop rates or XP incentives to get more players to play villains. The villain economy cannot reach equilibrium because of constant supply shortages, so prices are higher on high-end goods than they are for heroes - which hurts doubly so given heroes' better earning potential with many TFs and heroes' year and a half head start on villains in the earning of inf.
That's my list. -
Name: The Survivors
Currently Recruiting: Actively - if you're looking for a solid, veteran supergroup that's adding new members, this is the place to be.
RP Level: RP-friendly to Light RP. We won the Honorable Mention in the CoH Fansite Competition for "The Strike Slip Journals", a site about some of our characters' backstories.
PvP Level: Casual and Arena, from time to time. We can PvP for fun sometimes, but we're not big into it.
Theme/Concept: Our founding members were Survivors of the first Rikti war, giving us our name. Over time, our group has expanded to include heroes from all walks of life who manage to survive the tough city that is Paragon.
Activity: We have around 15 members, at least eight of whom play almost every day. Our main time zone is EST, but we have members all across the US, logging on at various times of day. If you're on at 10 pm EST, though, you'll find us for sure.
Requirements for Membership: Good attitude, desire to have fun, and wanting to play the game! We don't require you to run in SG mode, though we certainly don't complain if you do.
Leadership: Circuit Shorter, Killawatt, Raker
In-Game Contact(s): @circuit shorter, @killawatt1, @raker
Out-of-Game Contact(s): pm me here at Circuit_Shorter or email me at circuitshorter@yahoo.com
URL: Previously was www.virtuesfinest.org - We've let this domain expire and will be choosing a new domain name soon.
Coalition(s): Fairly large coalition of active groups
Other Details: We run TFs at least once a week. We have fun getting better at the game and getting richer while doing it. We don't farm, and we're not one of the hugest supergroups on the server, but we're a rock-solid group of good people who know this game thoroughly. Our leadership has been playing since launch, and many of our newer members are vets as well. We're very active, and new joiners tend to bring along all their alts as well. If you're interested, get in contact with me and we'll get you in! -

Good news. It's a great type of thing to bring the whole community together towards a single goal for a short enough duration to hold our famously brief attention span. -
As a Bay Area native, I say go for it!!
I'll be there in an instant, hehe.

This is the old "convincing the devs it's worth it" problem. It represents a huge investment of their time. The fact that it keeps coming up here on the forums, over and over says there is a desire for it. Custom colored powers seems so natural as a L40 reward to follow capes and auras at L20 and L30.
[/ QUOTE ]
This slightly derails the conversation up to this point, but IF it were to be level-based, it should be made available at 10, not at 40. This is the kind of system every player of the game should have access to. IMO, it should be available from the moment your character blinks into existence. -

I take credit for the mistake, but blame the fact-checker for being sick that day.
I think I can now safely say that I have forgotten more about this game than most will ever know, and I proved it.

You know, I wish more folks could turn what might be viewed as a negative experience into a positive one. The world would be a happier place.

I don't really think it's an exploit. Shivans do make AV fights noticeably easier, yes. Should they nerf them? No, why bother? Unless the regen rate of AVs is reduced to about half of what it currently is (Why do they all have the pre-I4 IH anyway?), leave the Shivans exactly as they are.
Let Ultimus do his thing. Let almost everyone else play the game the normal way. No biggie. -

I am listening to your ideas, but a Flashback system is simply not something we can implement in a timeframe you would all be happy with.
Instead we are looking into other options to get you the Pool B choice so level 50s don't feel gimped.
[/ QUOTE ]
-Make the Statesman TF able to drop these
-Make Hamidon able to drop these
-Make Shard arcs that are infinitely repeatable
I've got no problem with the TF and trial pools - if I really want something, I'll do it again. But yeah, I don't like getting the shaft for already being 50. But you know that already. You probably already thought of these ideas, but just in case, thought I'd throw 'em out.
-
Great Idea, Marcian. Very well thought out - kudos for obviously spending a lot of time on this.
I would love to see them either implemented as additional power pools, or as pools you unlocked access to through "flashback" missions (not to be confused with the infamous, never-seen system). It'd be neat if everyone could have background powers, not just builds that had excess powers at the end.
But overall, great stuff! Keep it coming. -
I just wanted to drop a reply in here regarding earlier discussions in the thread about "special enemies" as a method of increasing challenge optionally for vets who could handle (indeed, who need) extra-hard tasks...
There is speculation that a villain group will exist post-I9 who must be killed with inventions. Mobs such as this, who require special effort and knowledge to be able to defeat, would at least challenge most vets for awhile. Perhaps if all of their creatures had full powersets as players do, they would provide a decent difficulty? -
I have both my fly and my swift three-slotted for flight speed. I move pretty damn fast!
(Even my hover is as fast as an unslotted sprint)

I like Flight, simply because it is the lowest Maintenance. Click the toggle, press auto-run and go AFK for a few minutes or chat with my SG.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm sorry, but is this a sick joke? Seriously, are you listing this as a positive? I mean, anyone can slow down if they want to. I could stand around and chat, then sj, tp, or ss to my destination.
That's like saying "I like fire armor because it really let's me appreciate the newer ragdoll effects and I notice all those wonderful psi attacks".
Doesn't this seem off to anyone else?
You want people to like fly? Add in some epic feeling aerial combat. Give hover a resist to -fly. Make having true, unrestricted 3d movement actually mean something.
Other than GV, which used to require me to use my flight temp powers for easy navigation, there's never been a reason or a place where fly would have been more useful than sj or tp. Now w/ the GvE jump pack, I will only ever take fly if I'm tight on powers but want air sup (since it's such a great attack).
[/ QUOTE ]
No, it's not a joke. You clearly don't like fly and don't use it. I know myself and a number of my friends who have fliers really appreciate this aspect of it - it's safe and lets us relax between doing our herowork.
Don't blow stuff all out of proportion. Castle is posting here in his capacity as a player, to a fun thread; not as a dev, propagandizing. -

In considering Statesman's comments, consider his audience. He talked about what was relevant to the people at the Serious Games Convention, not to people who actually care about CoH because they invest time in it. These are two very different audiences - I read the interview as a.) Yes, Jack is a little out of touch, but b.) As it's not directed at us, we shouldn't assume it's the be-all and end-all of his opinion unless he says so specifically to us.
So someone get some guts and PM him. Me? I don't care either way, I'm not going anywhere, so someone else can do it. -
A workaround, and I don't know how much time this would take but it's just a thought, would be to change the insignificant debuffs to your enemies into insignificant self buffs on the stalker melee sets. This only works for the non-status (eg, non EM) sets - Dark, every attack grants you a tiny def bonus, ninja sword a small acc bonus, claws a small dam bonus, etc.
If this could quickly be put in as a stopgap to a more sweeping fix, that would help people out.
