I don't PvP so have no opinion there, but in PvE, my hierarchy is currently
1. SD
2. SR/WP
3. Invuln
4. Dark Armor
5. Fire Armor
6. Regen
Have not played electric armor.
I don't like how squishy Regen is for me and won't play it (or Fire Armor) at this point. I could only tolerate it with a sword primary to get help from Parry's defense. I must not be seeing high-end, durable /regen builds very often, as I observe /regen teammates face-planting more than any other scrapper secondary (except maybe Fire Armor). -
I would have just put a note on the player that they were useless and should be avoided in the future. Kicking? Not my style. Wouldn't have objected to a leader who did it though. If you have a buffing set and don't buff teammates who would benefit, you are playing poorly.

One thing I like about db/fire (acutally my toon is claws/fire, but it's simliar in this way)... double-stacked blinding feight combined with blazing aura is about as much damage as a spines/dark running 2 auras for half the endurance cost. -

I have two DP chars, a DP/Ice blaster named Texas Hold-up, and an Emp/DP defender named Dodge This (a bit of a Trinity tribute)

One of the selling points for /EM is Boost Range, and I get it, but I do also respectfully suggest the use of dam/range HOs and IOs can substitute nicely in gaining a satisfying boost from the base ranges. Of course, HOs are for endgame builds, but you can get Dam/Range IOs pretty early and they are noticeable and may satisfy the "moar range pls" desire.

Anything /ice is great for keeping baddies at range. Ice Patch, Chillblain and especially Shiver which, with a 12 second recharge (controller version is 20s, maybe even 30s) can be thrown out every spawn to keep counter attacking to a minimum. AND /Ice has Build-up, which makes using the quick recharge nukes (AR, Arch, Pistols) even MORE satisfying. I have lvl 50 Arch/Ice, AR/Ice, Fire/Ice and a young lvl 6 Pistols/Ice and think that /Ice is hugely under-rated.

I feel that I have never had a concept that this game wouldn't let me indulge in a satisfying manner. With power customization, it has been taken to the next level. I appreciate the diversity of powersets available on each side and the differences between the sides. Sometimes, I feel a concept can easily carry a powerset combination that is not intuitively high-performing the first time out and may have been abandoned. I am currently revisiting gravity control on both sides, with a Gravitrix Scout, a Grav/EnAssault Dom (dark green tinged powers), and a mirror (with different color scheme) character Gravitrix Blue, a grav/rad (blue tinted) troller. I am getting into the concept of these alien scouts of an insect collective invasion enough to not be too frustrated at getting dimension shift instead of Ice Slick at 12th level (yeah, I didn't take it.) Really looking forward to wormhole.

I managed to find the final 2-ish percent to reach the ranged softcap. Had to trade in the snipe, which I never used, which had 3.13 ranged def for Frozen Fists, a power I will almost never use, which gets 3.75 from a Mako Bite set. Also found a spot for a third Thunderstrike in Blaze to get 1.25% ranged. Fwiw, I've also found it to be my most efficient PI street sweeper despite being slotted for level 30.

Anything/ ice. The main reason is that Ice gives you easy breathing room to blast, especially once a few sets are allocated to the /ice cornerstone powers of BU, Ice Sword, Shiver, Chillblain, and Freezing touch. Of course Ice Patch is taken but really in the late game is often not needed for survival. Frequently this cool, frosty 6-pack of goodness is all that is taken from the /Ice, freeing up the hero to take medicine or other desired pool. With Gaussian's FCS in BU, Pacing o'Turtle in Shiver, Thunderstrike in Chilblain, Mako's Bite in Ice Sword, and Lockdown in Freezing Touch the astute /ice blaster is rewarded with 16.88% ranged def, a very pleasant benefit for the IO-oriented.

I am a bit late to the party, but I have just completed my mid-level TF runner Fire/ice built for ranged def. Now I play mostly /ice secondary because I am a freak for Shiver as a primary mitigator and am good at keeping stuff at a distance with it and chillblain. This character keeps all bonuses exemped to 30 or higher, so is a freight-train in everything Citadel or higher. I have never played such a consequence free AoE Beast. It's not quite softcapped at range but close enough that feels like it might as well be.
I will likely swap the karma KB protection for a Zephyr and replace the third zephyr with LotG +rechg, but the Zephyr knockback procs are pricey!

Looks like it might have some promise, but the rooting might be an issue.

Some great builds here. They're really showing me a different angle than what I had been focused on previously. For example, I had never considered to slot deflection with less than the ED-cap def, but with sufficient Obliterations and other Melee bonusing sets, it's not an issue. The Fire ancilary gives great defensive results as well. Lots to think about here. Probably will make some compromises in order to not have to too radically alter my playstyle ( I like Hasten for example, and would like to skip Dark Consumption still as I have Endurance totally under control) or pull my teeth chasing Obliterations, but I can clearly take some cues and get myself beefed up a bit. One small thing that I take into consideration is that, the vast majority of the time I will have some kind of Mystic Fortune buff on me (as I mostly run TFs and am a compulsive team Fortune-teller), about half of which give a +5% def so even if I am at 42-ish% to all, I tend to be effectively softcapped in most circumstances.

I finally have gotten around to using Mids for the first time and thought I'd submit the build for my DM/SD Who's Your Bonedaddy (Liberty). It's got a fair amount of infl in it and I'd like to fine tune him to get the most from the build. While I am currently very happy with its performance, I am open to adjusting. At first glance, it seems as though I could benefit slightly from swapping the slotting for Grant Cover with the slotting for Battle Agility. What do you see as the build's most glaring weakness. DDR?
I do have a couple requests: I'd like to keep Grant Cover and keep Leaping as my travel power.

Aaron. Just a couple of concerns. At first glance, it looks to me like that build is going to run into endurance issues in high-end soloing scenarios (I could be wrong there) and Siphon Life is not being leveraged effectively for both heal and damage, which is something you see in most high-end builds. Finally, I would want Smite's recharge to be closer to the ED cap, given that it is the highest DPS in the set. Of course this is peanut gallery nit-picking, as I do not use Mids myself, and am apparently a bit odd for being satisfied with about %40.5 melee def on my DM/SD (with 44ish vs Ranged and AoE), which has neither DC nor ToF.

A couple years ago I took a page from my Brute playbook for my scrappers (and my rare Tank) and started putting one of my quick activating attacks on auto, and have found that it really has changed my play experience for the better. I can tab-follow to the next target and get off a Smite, Storm Kick, Blinding Feint or Cremate the instant that I am in attack range. This is even more satisfying since they increased melee attack range a couple issues ago.
It does force me to manually activate my click mez protection on /SRs and /SD chars, but I find that a small price to pay for the increase in pace.
Curious how many of my scrapper peers run with an auto attack on. -
