Unless there was a bug in the Comic Con build (which is entirely feasible--they may have broken something trying to show off level 4 travel power access), Tough was definitely available at level 4 with no prerequisites. Weave still required 2 prereqs.

Quote:I THINK it's for everything. It may have been a bug--like they were trying to show off travel powers at 4 and broke the other pools as well--or it may have been intended, but the other pools I was looking at said that the T3 was available at level 4 with no prerequisite. I specifically asked a guy who was playing on a dev-created character and respeccing him to try out the new travel powers to check the Fighting pool, and Tough was available at 4.i was reading in another thread that possibly for all power pools they are letting us pick the 3rd power without a prerequisite
IMO i think they are only doing this for the travel pools, but i was wondering if anyone heard about the other pools
I also know that the T4 & T5 in the Flight pool unlocked at 14 instead of 20, but required 2 prerequisites. Can't remember for the non-travel pools if they unlocked at 14 as well, but I know that Weave still required 2 prereqs.
EDIT: Just found out last night, the other pools being available at level 4 was unintended. Oh well... -
Quote:Is there a reason people can't make a Facebook profile to get one?Unless that "reasonable shot" is some method that does not include Facebook, then there will never be a time every that wants one will get one.
I don't particularly like social networking, either, but if you want something and the only way to get it is to sign up for such a site (for free, mind you), then you either do it and get the prize or don't and have no leg to stand on in the argument. If you're not trying simply because you don't want to be on Facebook, then the only one you can blame is yourself.

Now, for the people who can't get the code to load (gave me some trouble on my girlfriend's account), you truly have my sympathies--it's a pain in the butt when it just doesn't work out of the box. In the end, I had to go to her Facebook settings, disable secure browsing and restart the browser to view the code.
(Once I got it for her, I went back and turned the secure browsing setting back on.) -
T4 (and T5, for the Travel Pools that have it) Power Pool options will still require 2 previous powers from the set, but I think they may all unlock before level 20 now.
Afterburner, the only one I really played with while at Comic Con, required level 14 and 2 previous Flight selections. Now I just need to figure out what can be dropped for Afterburner, so I can add +20ish Max Fly Speed to my Scrapper... :3 -
Additionally, I see you have 8GB of memory. Are all of your sticks the same brand and model?
I ran into a problem a couple years back where I picked up some cheap RAM, and while it worked fine on its own and there were no issues reported by MemTest, it wasn't compatible with the memory that was already in the system and caused sporadic but frequent crashes for no discernible reason. The new sticks were even from the same manufacturer as what I was already using, just different models.
I took it back to the store, spent the extra $20 to get RAM that matched what was already in the machine and never had that problem again. -
Are you making sure you're running with "/maxinactivefps (small_number)" on your second account? You could very well be overloading your processor or graphics card with too much information during gigantic ambushes if both accounts are fully rendering everything. This command will limit the number of frames per second that your system will render IF it isn't the active window... meaning your game will still render at full throttle when you're actually playing.
I added "-maxinactivefps 1" to the game shortcut for the same effect, as I like to alt+tab out and read the forums or webcomics during downtime, or on the rare occassions I'm dual boxing. -
Spaz keeps posting "idea" pictures that are owned by other companies, be they other MMOs, video games, manga, anime or other.
I hope he's not disappointed when exactly zero of his suggestions make it into the game... -
Did you actually try running in safe mode, as they suggested? And did that alleviate the crashing?
Are both clients (assuming you're alt+tabbing between the two) crashing, or just one?
Does this happen on every ambush farm map, or just specifically the one you favor?

Anyway, I'm not going to suggest getting a whole new computer, but reformatting or replacing the the primary drive probably wouldn't hurt. I tend to keep 3 hard drives in my machine: 1 small OS drive, 1 medium program/data drive, 1 large storage drive. I then tend to clean off the OS drive at least every 6-12 months.
This method also lessens clutter and slow-down, since only the bare minimum is on my C: drive. -
Quote:Yes. Or at least, supposedly. They've said anything that isn't a consumeable item should be global to all characters on your account. Are the new costume slot purchases global? 800pp per slot per character seems excesive to me I think?
Quote:Also... Zone Teleport. How exactly does it work? TPs you to the adjacent zones? It brings down a list like the Train and give you access to all zones you have visited before? I love teleport, so I'd like to know a bit more about this!
I'm also not sure where in the zones it TPs you to, sorry. -
According to the September issue of PC Gamer, we're getting them in the Paragon Market eventually... or at least, something very very similar.

Quote:Main issue with the CoT revamp is it changes the feel of the group. That is what was bad - the costumes themselves looked fine.
They need to do something a little more drastic with the lower body, because the tights do look a little silly on the generic low-level enemies. Perhaps baggy pants or a loincloth of some sort, as suggested in the other thread, would distract from the tights sufficiently. They actually do work pretty well for the mages later in the game, though--I saw an Ice Thorn Caster in Portal Court (while playing with Afterburner at Comic Con) and thought he looked pretty awesome. -
Quote:I was told just after the panel at Comic Con (a friend of mine texted me about it while I was there, so I asked Black Pebble) that this is just the first round of facepalm codes. They will do the promotion again at a later time, to the point that anybody who wants one has a reasonable shot at getting one.I'm guessing it should be available with Issue 21 launch, at a price of $0.25 (80 Paragon Points).
There are no plans to add it to the store at this time. -
I think I was at over 1000 hours for my first 50. Got it just a week or so before the three year anniversary, having started on the day of the game launched.
Subsequent 50s (other than my do-all-the-content Stalker) have been around 200-250 hours, with one even getting there in under 100. -
To further touch on TerraDraconis' post above:
The regular Tier 9 Rewards (accessible to anybody, VIP or no, once they've fully slotted through Tier 8) are repeatable consumeable rewards, such as enhancement boosters and deslotters and the like.
The Tier 9 VIP-only Rewards are costume pieces that will cycle over time. Every few months, they'll switch the option to something new, to keep things fresh for those who already have everything, and will presumably bring them back at a later date. -
Correct. You start with 3 and can currently purchase up to 8 total.

Quote:Oh hardy harr.Unless you're Technology Origin. Then you're already doing basically what the OP suggested all the time, just on a smaller scale.
You heard it here first - Tech characters undermine the central principle of the game!
You're still unlocking your potential through technology and/or gadgets than through training, mutation, enhanced magicks or chemicals, or however you choose to roleplay (or not roleplay) your abilities. My point was basically that the game is supposed to be YOUR story, not Voltron's. -
Quote:Would you like some cheese with that whine?I don't understand this. YABE (yet another blueside event), and still redside languishes. Why don't they just kill off redside? Mercy didnt even get a revamp like Atlas. They bittwiddled a few mishs and called it a day. That just sucks.
They did do some minor zone revamps for Mercy, but the zone's only been there for about 5 years whereas Atlas Park is close to 9 years old (one of the first zones developed for the game) at this point. They've said they're going to go back and rework a lot of zones, but they're doing the oldest zones first, so the Rogue Isles have a bit of a wait.
Voodoo already pointed out that your assumptions about the sewer trial were incorrect.
And as for "bittwiddling a few missions," they've completely revamped the 1-20 content on both sides, so why don't you actually see what they've changed before passing judgment on it? -

Oh, and there was apparently a bit of talk about the new Sewer Trial in today's Ustream chat, as well:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?p=3767605 -
The new Sewer Trial is accessible via the LFG teleporter, the same way Incarnate Trials are currently accessed. Can't remember who exactly said it, but I heard it mentioned this past weekend.

While I'm not saying that doesn't sound cool (it does), it doesn't really fit in with the purpose of the game: your character, unlocking his/her own potential and fighting/causing villainy as means of that progression.
Your idea basically undermines the second tennet there, as you're relying entirely on something external to yourself to do the fighting.
Now, if you wanted to change it to an Ultra Man-esque battle where you are hit with a growth ray to battle some giant and otherwise invincible monstrosity, I could get behind that. I don't see it actually happening, but it doesn't undermine anything that the game stands for. -
I'm not. Sounds like a lot of clutter to me.
I think you should be able to tell at a glance or, preferably, a click whether someone is subscribed or not. That's it.
As far as your complaints about people not having Alpha for Apex/Tin Mage, you can bring up the team window and see their buffs before you start. Alpha will show up there if they've got it. -
Hellions need it pretty bad, as they're a major focus for the first few missions once you get to Atlas.

Thanks for the update, Saist! I'll grab these as soon as I get home!

Ehhh, it's fair game if somebody gets a name I want before I get there. I don't really plan to play on the server exclusively or anything, but I'm likely to make a StJ/WP or EA Scrapper version of my namesake there.
I may have a little more grounds to contest someone stealing my primary character's name than most, but what's the point of getting bent out of shape about it? Especially when the only reason people would grab a known poster on the board's name would be to troll us... getting upset just validates their actions, so meh, whatever.
