Before you delete everything and start over, join basebuildersinc. (yes, you need the .) as a global channel, and talk to the people there. Someone may be on at the same time you are who can come in and walk you though doing some fixes.
I'll be available tomorrow about this same time (24 hours from this post), even if you can't find someone else to help. -
Quote:Oh, come on. Be realistic. It doesn't even seem that hard to put it into the game, why not just put it into the next patch?
HOW long have the Pocket D and Grandville beacons been broken? The artwork's there, it's just that the working beacon pointer is aimed at the wrong file.
You'd think it'd be a five minute fix, but...
If this is the same thing, then it might get fixed sometime before the heat death of the universe, but I don't really suggest holding your breath. -
Completely random, here. One night, I was having great luck with my main on Justice and so was the rest of my team. Next night, I was having great luck with my main on Triumph, but Talek was attracting all SORTS of nasty sorts (it was 1 treat for every 6 tricks for him). Next night, my main on Triumph went down to Talek's sort of luck... and tonight, the Justice alt got one treat out of about twenty or so doors (and that was a small blue).
On the other hand, it was totally strange, but Talek managed to get the Clotheshorse badge without ever getting a single costume drop. -
Quote:I remember this because I recall thinking a mere 5,000 INF is so relatively trivial that it almost seemed weird that they even bothered with that value.
I could of course be mistaken, but I definitely was left with a "that's not worth it" impression. *shrugs*
It is if you suddenly realize your insp tray is full and you have all the badges. -
Quote:Not necessarily. Beta server was up sporadically until about the end of last month, then access went away. I can still *reach* Beta server now, but it says the sever isn't responding.Otherwise, yeah... the beta server gets wiped at the end of beta periods.
Given that Test currently is available to all and hosting Halloween testing, but that i-19 is due to be released soon, I'm willing to bet there's some variety of testing happening on the Beta server - we just can't access it. If / when it goes to open beta, if it's not moved onto the Test server, there's a chance that the OP may be able to acquire his costume and power files at that point.
No guarantees of course, and I could be completely off my rocker, but there's a tiny possibility. -
Quote:Unfortunately, you can't at the moment. Each half of the doorway will pick up the look of the room that it connects to, but that's the closest you get. We've never actually gotten a good reason for it to not have the ceiling and floor trim. You can suppress the trim everywhere else if you want to, though.I am still trying to figure out how you work with doorways, specifically how you get them to look like the rest of your base.
It's an ongoing desire and has been suggested to the devs. We have no idea what they're planning, but something's been said along the lines of considering it. It was very non-committal. -
Quote:If you came up with loads of ideas that the devs liked and wanted to talk with you about, that'd be cool and no, you wouldn't have to come in and post all about it - however, that's not equivalent to what's happening here. In your ideas, you're only representing yourself, what you want, what you think is good, and what you have come up with.Just wandering why this committee needs to justify what they are doing?
If I came up with a loads of ideas for issue 25 and posted them off to the devs and all of a sudden I get a PM back from devs stating we really like your ideas can we discuss this further, would I then have to post on the forums to everyone that the devs have taken note of my ideas and we are in discussion?
In the committee's case, they are claiming to represent all of us in the base building community, but they've done so without talking to any of us first. You can't honestly represent someone who hasn't agreed to be represented, and that's where the problems actually lie.
They also have to remember that they are not the only ones who know devs and OCRs, and if they don't work things out with this community, someone who has the ability to get a message into Paragon Studios may turn around and bring this whole endeavor to a screeching halt. That's a situation that won't benefit anybody.
Nobody wants this committee to fail - it's a reasonably good idea, and if it works, great. However, the committee has to prove that they can be trusted, because the way they started was not in an open, honest, and trustworthy fashion. They have to show that they are not going to continue the way they began - which was in secret, with no input or word to the community they claim to represent. -
Quote:Not to harsh on your complaining buzz, but you do realize that the Halloween event goes on for for about two weeks, give or take, right?Which would make it so very few of there customers can actually play the event. [...stuff family does on Halloween day and evening...]
I'm not saying every player will have this problem, but enough of them will that it would be annoying and create a lot of negative feedback besides.
I believe the person in question is wanting the spookies to happen exclusively during [the] Halloween [event] rather than all year around, to concentrate interest in doing them, much like having the winter activities only happen during the winter event keeps interest in them higher. -
Quote:The problem is, there's apparently very few dayjobs that can be earned on Praetoria at all, regardless of where else they can be earned..Well there should be no dayjobs in Praetoria that cannot be earned on the red or blue side of the fence on Primal Earth. Likely a Praetorian can get them on Primal but perhaps the names of the badges will be Praetorian names.
Patroller is easily available (thankfully). I was able to find the one for the bank, and the Hospital is good. The university works, which means the rez accolade is available.
There is NOT one available for the transit, which is strange. I haven't been able to tell if the police (in one of the precinct) works, but I don't think so. And I haven't yet seen a graveyard in Prae - maybe dead people are fed to the ghouls.
The rest of both the red and blue side tend to assume higher level than 20, or there's no equivalent place to get them in Prae (Arena, AE, PvP). -
Well, you guys wanted base contests... here's one.
The winners get to have their work shown off in a CoH vid by DR.

I'm mostly staying out of this conversation, because while I have my own opinions, I know perfectly well that nobody but me cares what they are.
Quote:In reference to the bolded bit above: I think the problem some people are running into was that the endeavor was started without any discussion or input from this section of the game population that it claims to represent. There shouldn't have been a leak "before they were ready to announce it," because it shouldn't have been a secret in the first place. They're running into the problem of -> what happens if we don't want to be presented with fait accompli?I'm not part of this little committee, but before anyone else speaks of mistrust, it appears that a leak somewhere made it so everyone heard about this little endeavor of theirs before they were ready to announce it, which is presumably why they haven't presented the plan you're asking for (and one I was pondering myself before taking this into account). -
Quote:He's back to having a red name now, and I could swear I've seen his name on the "now logged in" mess. Although that might have been OCR checking messages, too.they laid off Sunstorm...you know, the guy who was in-charge of bases...so much for hope...
Quote:...the only hope I see for Bases is Individual Player Housing. If they make it so everyone can get a starter appartment and kit it out with INF (not Prestige), -

Known issue. You have the prestige, that's not a problem. Sometimes the editor doesn't catch up immediately. You need to get out of the editor at least; occasionally you have to zone out of the base and back in for it to recalculate properly. A few people have said they need to log out and log back in. One or two folks have been lucky enough to just buy or sell an item in the editor and have it recalculate there, but not enough to make it a consistent thing.

You didn't need to upgrade the plot, you could have remained on the 8x8 with no problem.
For a vault and invention table, a simple oversight room with the startup unit (under control items, provides limited power and control) would be sufficient. The salvage and enhancement bins do not require any power or control. If that's all you want (just storage and invention space), you can do it pretty cheaply. -
One of the myriad people who talk to me told me this after PAX. I could be misremembering, but from what I remember, they told me that they saw on Linked-In that he'd moved companies sometime this summer.

The Scoop is dead. It has been buried. We will be holding a wake... wait, that's already happened, too. If you're into zombies, I think there's back issues over at P-wiki.
Re: the OP:
I think that there's a certain amount of truth to what Obs (and others) is seeing - the "feel" of the community has changed, and the OCR team is part of that. I mean, who even remembers to mention EMPulse? She's the head of the OCR team, and we all forget about her. The fact that she never posts helps that along. We all see Avatea and Ocho, but ... the communications from them are usually fairly formal, without reaching out to the community as a whole in any substantial way (I've had a few casual PM exchanges, but that's a little different).
Now, I've met both Avatea and Ocho IRL, and while the situation wasn't conducive to getting to know them well, I was able to spend a little time chatting with each of them, and I have to say that in person, they're warm, friendly, caring people who (at least a year ago) are thrilled to be working with this game. I don't see that coming across in the communications with us, however.
I have more thoughts, but the fever has turned my brain to goo and it's dribbled out my ears and now I've forgotten everything I was going to say. -
Quote:You know, for a temporary building character, I think exceptions could be made.It has come to my attention that you don't get base building privileges until you get to rank 2.
You don't get to rank 2 until you turn a billion influence into prestige.
I'm going to have to sponsor someone... so there may be a slight delay while I rustle up some cash.I mean, if they were going to be a permanent part of the SG, then I can see sponsoring them so that they fit the group mold (and using the base building as their "real" contribution to the group), but if they're just building - which most of us who volunteer would be doing - they're probably not going to be permanent, since we've all got SGs of our own to take care of.
And no, I'm not volunteering. I don't have time. -

After reading this thread (and the related "River Rat" thread), I decided I'd just leave the badge window up while I was doing these. Closest to completion works pretty well here.
Stay on the plaque or badge until the increment... increments... and then move on. Seems easier than having to guess which one I missed later. -

Quote:If you haven't built anything yet, the easiest way to do this is to select the "upgrade plot" button (instead of the "edit base" button) and choose the same size plot you're already on. It won't cost you anything, but you'll be able to move the whole plot around, thus allowing you to place the entry room pretty much wherever you want to.I'm building a new SG base, and I'd *like* to be able to place the Secret Entrance room in the center of the map, but so far it looks like that room is only allowed to occupy corner slots of the base grid. Is it, in fact, possible to place the Entrance room in the center of the grid and build the base around it?
