Casual base building w/ beginner questions.

Can anyone recommend me an up-to-date guide for someone just beginning with base building? I've never bothered with it, but I recently decided I needed a basic, storing bin SG base.

I need to know how much prestige total I would need, and about what order I would approach things in. Also, what are the minimum requirements to get going? Power and Control, right? Anything else?

I just want to have space for a creation table and the salvage, inspiration and enhancements bins. Do I need to upgrade the plot for that? Is there anything else I'm not considering, or that is worth having for a tiny SG not interested in raiding or decor?

If you're looking for tips on how to use the base editor... well, there's not really a single guide to that since there are so many darned quirks with it. You just kinda have to start tinkerin'. There is a stickied thread that discusses the various ways folks stack things, though.

Also, if your just doing storage bins & crafting table (not a vault) you do not need power or control. just the entry room, workshop(s), bins & table.

A vault wouldn't be bad.

Anyway, I upgraded the plot and put in a power and control room, but ran out of prestige at that point, so I'm wondering if I can remove one of those things.

Does the mission computer do anything? Didn't they remove that villain-side TF from it?

You didn't need to upgrade the plot, you could have remained on the 8x8 with no problem.

For a vault and invention table, a simple oversight room with the startup unit (under control items, provides limited power and control) would be sufficient. The salvage and enhancement bins do not require any power or control. If that's all you want (just storage and invention space), you can do it pretty cheaply.

Yes, you can downsize the plot and get a refund. Unfortunately, you can't go any smaller than the 8x8 basic plot.
