Quote:For any particular reason, or just because it doesn't fit into your "Devs never do anything right" mindset?Well, in all fairness sometimes we do get things "with no penalty", but they're usually done half-*****. And I'm not sure I would qualify making the Fitness pool inherent a QoL change.
I'm all for voicing onnes disagreement when you think something is wrong, but at least give them credit when they do something right, or at least offer a reason you think its wrong other than a petulant "they'll screw us over this" kneejerk reaction with no foundation in reality. -
Quote:Erm, no. Quite the opposite. First thing you'll need to do is to respec once the change goes live for the effect to kick in.So I have to respec all my chars before I19 or my existing chars won't be getting the Inherent Fitness powers ever?
Not even after a respec I do after I19 gets launched?
To be honest that is a bit crazy if that's really the case. So I better make sure not to miss the I19 release date and do a respec on all my existing chars then. and then when I19 gets released I respec them all again to be able to slot these powers? Okaaay, weird.
Which is slightly annoying for some of my characters which do quite well without it.
It is actually the one time I could find myself agreeing with optical_illusions call for 2 freespecs instead of one, just with this issue (god have mercy on my soul) since I'll need to respec my SoA twice.
Of course if it means burning a Vet respec or respeccing one build and then running a Respec Trial for the other I can live with that too. -
Quote:That's just nonsense I'm afraid. We've had plenty of QoL changes with no penalty. As I said before, we have never gotten something just because. There has always been some form of a price to pay. Whether its real money for ninja run as a booster, or travel powers at level 6 due to paying in so much vet time. I cant see them doing this without some penalty.
Gleemail for example. Increased Acc for levels 1-20, Combat Numbers. Increased Sprint speed, decreased Rest recharge, increased Hover speed. -
Quote:As would my Domi. Frankenslotting is the answerTwo points:
1. Why do people speculate that base endurance costs would increase across the board? That would negate this change completely and wouldn't make any sense.
2. You aren't losing any slots by having Fitness as an inherent. You'll have the same amount of slots you've always had, except you'll have to spread them out over more powers. If that's an issue, my Khelds would like to have a word with you.
I mean you can even take 3 throw-away powers and never/rarely use them and be just as you are now. Melee types could take Combat Jumping, or not feel so bad about having to take Box or Kick from the fighting pool. My TPers will be taking Hover now, many of my characters can take things like Rez powers or Smoke or a marginal panic button power like Bonfire. And a lot of my characters will be able to take a choice of travel powers rather than being stuck with Superspeed because choices were too tight.
I do hope that the silly restriction with Kheld forms and the Fitness pool is lifted now it's becoming an inherent though. -
Quote:Given that most folks at that range are frolicking off in Evil Goatee Land that'd be a bit lame IMO. Plus there's plenty to do currently with Steel, Skyway and Faultline in that range (assuming it stays at that range, which given Apexes shouting looks to be the case).Broken Boomtown...
Restored Baumton
Although cross server teamage would be awesome-sauce, my money is on a Boomtown makeover.
Now a Dark Astoria make-over? That'd I'd love to see. -
Quote:I'm guessing cross-server teamage?K, now you've given it away.
I know exactly what the announcement will be.
Thanks!
If it is it better also be an announcement that the EU and US servers won't have the stupid divide any more (in which case I'll bow down and worship you a bit) -
Quote:I don't really care about badges anyway and was planning to sit at Rogue regardless.Just to add, I think people who are exploiting it to get all the 7 day badges straight away are doing themselves a diservice. Of course I am a slow plodder, I am sitting quite happily as a villain for now earning all the villain side content. I know the other ones will come in due time. :-)
Getting another wee AOE confuse Temp power instantly was a nice surprise though when I switched builds to level. Even if I don't use it much. By the time the patch goes live I'll have been entitled to it anyway. -
I'm not sure actucally, possbily. That just means those other wenches do instead, the ones that can do horrific things to your Melee toon. I do seem to get a lot of them alright.
-
Give me the damn APPs.
Things like Energy Mastery suit the concept of highly trained professional soldiers anyway. -
Quote:Which is odd considering it is the sole patch note for the build currently on the Test Server.a Fix like that wouldn't go into the patch notes.
Developers policy is not to list exploit fixes in the notes.
I suspect they don't consider it the level of exploit they'd normally not mention until a fix went live.
My Fort/Widow accidently triggered it during the week too. -
Quote:Erm, Fire slow to level initially?
Fire is very slow to solo in the lower levels, but in high levels, it becomes the AoE damage king -- especially Fire/Kin, but Fire/Rad is pretty darn good, too. So is Fire/Storm. Other sets become easier to solo once you get your pet at 32 . . . except Mind gets a great AoE control power in Mass Confusion. (Soloing a Mind controller in upper levels becomes slow compared to other controllers.)
It depends (much like Mind I guess). If you're soloing and leveraging the new Spawn Size diff settings to make lots of weak enemies Fire can be very quick indeed from about level 8 or 10 with Air Sup, Cages and Hotfeet.
You do need to get into the "Eat Insps like candy" mentality though and rely on them continually cascading out of your defeats. -

Quote:Really? I thought VEATs got the same treatment Brutes got and gained the scrapper ones!Yes, APP arent available for Villain epics.
Unfair, I know. Devs hate villains, specially epics
This makes my level 39.5 Fort/Widow rather annoyed. Thought I'd have her freakish End woes sorted by 44. -
Quote:Any reason you aren't considering the Body Mastery APP from Scrappers for Physical Perfection, and maybe Focused Accuracy? My widow is lvl 41 and now im testing Mu Mastery, but im not sure at all.
Mace and Soul are my others options.
Soul is nice, but I hate Soul tentacles and I only like Gloom in the set...
Mace fits with the arachnos, but Im worried about the mace/claws redraw...
Any advice? Thank you -
Quote:This is one of the reasons I hate people advocating the "Pseudo-hold" maneuverer Fire and Earth can do. There's no particular need for the Cage part and anything which is capable of avoiding the Stun (like a Boss) is now either aggroed at you or if there's someone laying down a Slip Patch you've just made them immune to it.On my Kin/Elec Defender, who is built as a sapper, I was able to drain an AV or two with Power Build Up-Thunderous Blast-run in and pop a blue-Transferance-Short Circuit-Ball Lightning. All of those (except Power Build Up) are slotted to some degree with EndMod.
There was a comment earlier in the thread claiming that Elec control is the most effective low level controller. I think some of the fans of Plant Control might challenge that statement.
One aspect of Electric control that gives it some similarity to Illusion -- more Electric Controllers on a team make the controller more effective rather than less. Multiples of other controllers can often step on each other's toes. (On my Earth Controllers, I can't tell you how many times my Earthquake has been neutered by the Fire Controller casting Fire Cages . . . to the point where I just give up on Earthquake.)
Mind you Earthquake also has a tasty ToHit and Defense Debuff and hopefully the knockdown will get a chance to kick in in around 10 seconds, so I lay it anyway. -
Laptop keyboard and a Logitech trackball.
I tend to prefer using keyboard shortcuts rather than point-and-click if I can help it. -
Indeed. Villains get Carnies 10 levels earlier than Heroes tend to.

Quote:Interesting, I was worried about that proc. iven that both the aura and the sleep patch have effects which affect enemies and affect you who exactly will be hit by the stun proc?Another consideration to play around with:
Energy Manipulator: chance to stun
I had one drop and slotted it for fun in the mid-late teens. I'm seeing it proc. Haven't decided if it is worth it with all the sleep and hold flying around long term... more than likely pull it at later levels as I decide on final slotting.
Beyond that, I agree, accuracy and end mod with commons. Set slot to taste
I'd probably aim to stick in in one of the two Chains instead personally (or both of them) -
Quote:The Robot Suit Repair man.Yeah I wondered that as at some point our tech will rival that of ironman and eventually surpass it. Who will be our super heroes then when anyone can be super man?
All well and good being able to fly at supersonic speeds, throw cars and fire lasers, but when you get the RROD on your super suit or the left booster rocket is refusing to fire what do you do then? -
Quote:So you're betting they're going to basically emulate the new expansion from That Which Must Not Be Named? So, here's a theory I just came up with:
- The players don't want New Zones, per se. They want the old cities to be overhauled to match Praetoria.
- The Coming Storm is Coming.
- The image is of a blown up city.
*
Ladies and Gentlemen, I am betting 20 million INF that we are getting overhauled zones when key areas of Paragon City and The Rogue Isles are devastated.
Any takers? -
Quote:I'd like to see an option to make vendors that normally carry enhancements for numerous origins to only show you enhancements appropriate to your origin (and possibly level too). Of course if this is just an on/off choice in the options menu, it wouldn't in any way inhibit the folks who want to use one character to buy things for another character. It would make it less of a pain to scroll through vendor inventory looking for the "right" set of origin enhancements though, and help mitigate mistakenly buying the wrong type.
Edit: dang typo in the title... curse my giant fingers and poor typing skill...
I'd prefer a origin filter drop-down in the store window to be honest.*
I'd also dearly like the return of the rollover details pop-up when you rolled over an item. Having to right-click and Info each one to see what each obscure name does is a pain. -
Quote:Agree with basically all of this.Cimerora has a use, though. That is where one of the best Tfs in the game can be found, and so it isnt totally dead. Heroes can run it. Villains can run it. Its a good money-maker for those ever-crafting level 50s.
My problem with Cim is that [to me] it is a massive disconnect from the rest of the game. We have good guys over here in a big city, bad guys over there in several smaller cities including one zone of such danger and complexity that its like will probably never be seen again [G'Ville] - & then SHAZAAM! off we go to ancient Rome...? k.
Would like to see a new co-op zone which resembled Dark Astoria. Maybe ALL LEVELS could have mishes in it, have a big TF for the 50s and then everyone would have something to do. That would be really fun.
Random Roman Zone never made a lick of sense to me, and I've been calling for a Dark Astoria Co-op zone for years. -
Quote:True, but not by level 6 it don'tFire/Storm or Ice gives you the even more ridiculous combo of RoF+FR or Sleet
Grav/TA controller. TA brings extra control to Grav, Grav brings the ability to immob without preventing knockdown and the ability to teleport chunks of enemies into Oil Slick.
Traps/Dark Defender (or corrupter) : -ToHit stacks with FF Generator. Dark Pit allows you to Toe Bomb without fear. Little flying thingies stuns stack with Dark Pit. Life Drain lets you heal yourself.
Necro/Dark Mastermind. Silly amounts of -ToHit, 4 different holds (3 from the various henchies and fluffy), stacked Fearsome Stares.
Currently I'm working on a Broadsword/Fire scrapper who has the potential to do ridiculous damage spikes, coupled with Parry helping out Fires low survivabilty. -
Quote:Brute would be my last choice probably.I would put on Dominator first (but only if that Dom melees too). Dominator can dish out very good damage.
If the team has no controls, then I would put on whoever takes Alpha and in many cases, it's probably Brute.
After Dom/Brute, I would then put on Stalker. Stalker is not THAT fragile. Stalker is only fragile if the person focuses too much on taking AS, BU and Placate too early and has no defensive shields. But don't forget to buff Stalker. :P Many Corrs forget about Stalker's existence.
You can also put it on SoA. Fort's defense can put them in "god-mode" easily.
Basically:
1. Whoever takes Alpha first (usually Brute). This can even be a Tanker-mind Mastermind.
2. Dominator/Corruptor
3. Brute
4. Stalker/SoA
Domis, Blasters, buffing defenders, Kheldians, scrappers, corrupters would be my rough order, but folks with more AOE tend to attract it more than those without usually. -
