Quote:The romans got off easily compared to what the devs did to Celtic mythology back in i5.Ancient "Rome." Though, they failed and made it more Greek then Roman.

Quote:Actually there's a few reasons to pick Fire Armour on a Brute over a Scrapper. You know, no one ever listed a dm/fire brute. And really is about as good as dm/invul. One because of soul drain + fire embrace + burn followed with smite, midnight grasp, siphon life, and shadow maul if you like. I've only ran a dm/invul brute to 50 before IO life. Burn is the beauty of fire armor and you can use this combo with brute or scrapper but I would go with brute for the shear surviving aspect.
- Better Fire Resistance since your cap goes higher
- Bigger Heals
- Fury playing better with your Damage Aura since the Scrapper version can't crit.
- Your Taunts (esp in your Damage Aura) playing better with Burn and morale breaks (things still try and flee Burn due to City of Cowards. Taunts make them reconsider their cowardly ways). Plus again Fury plays better with Burn because the scrapper version can't crit.
- Fire Embrace works WONDERFULLY with Fury, unlike most powers on a Brute which increase your damage, they tend to suffer from the low base damage Brutes have. FE works off your final damage figure

Quote:That's bad math logic when you consider that 5% is the Best Case figure for how effective being at the softcap is and a lot of the time if you're in the position of not being in that best case scenario (say if you're fighting anything over even level whom all get Acc bonuses against you)Actually, I would think that Tough would be a complete waste on any build that is soft-capped to S/L. If you think about it, you're only taking 5% of S/L damage already, then Tough is stopping 12.75% on top of that (roughly 20% slotted). So, in total, Tough is really only giving you 1% damage resistance to S/L compared to a build with no S/L defense. For the endurance cost 1% S/L resistance is not worth it, IMHO.
If you've got Tough anyway (which is does as he needs it to get Weave) and can in any way slot it up (even with one more Resistance IO) it's worth running IMO, especially in situations where you're facing any end game enemy who for whatever reason guts your softcap (DE, Defensive Debuffs, say from the ITF, enemies with ToHit bonuses, either through powers or a higher base ToHit chance).
Like I said I can't see the build, and maybe it is that tight in terms of slots. But if not it could well be worthwhile moving a slot into Tough if possible in order to give yourself a little more breathing room. -
Quote:*pats Linux box*Every time I try to watch the video, I get an error: "303: Unable to load a resource. Unable to load resources: Error #2306"
Aaaaand, I've just tried it in Internet Explorer (stupid! stupid! stupid!) and it tried to do a "security scan" on my PC....
To anyone trying to view this video...stay away. The site it's on is apparently trying to load malware or something on your computer.
That'll do pig. That'll do. -
Quote:I'm not disagreeing with your sentiments, just pointing out that IO Sets are one thing which won't necessarily add to that power.Still means you are more powerful then you where at that actual level. That should be enough. Challenge is the word here! Not I-am-drunk-and-slap-things-mindlessly-and-still-win!
This is already too much in this game.
Of course given that I'm a total Frankenslotter anyway that wouldn't affect any of my characters at all really.
Oh, and never write off the drunk-and-slap-things-mindlessly, my Tekken Tag Survival record of 37 wins in a row happened when I was very, very drunk one night. My flatmate couldn't believe it when he came home and was having a slurred conversation with me whilest I was still in the middle of it and decimating things whilest apparently not even looking at the TV. -
My chief complaint with City of X is the fact they went and made so many fun combinations of ATs and powersets to try out.
I'm becoming Steelclaw-ish in the way I play, I can't manage to stick with one character more than a few days and in the last few weeks I'm playing a different character every night (yay for Patrol XP coupled with the ease of getting a random PuG in this game). -
Quote:Erm, one thing here. Chances are if you're exempted down to 25 then chances are a lot of your Set Bonuses won't work, unless you've been slotting with level 28 or Purple IOs.So.. you totally missed the idea of the Devs working their way into making sure people will do content that is sometimes ignored. A WSF also makes sure AE babies will do tf's they never done... even if its just to get stronger. There is no way to power level yourself to a Very Rare Alpha slot!
For lower toons there is the double merits... for lvl 50 toons the notice of the well should be enough reason to do a lower lvl tf. Doing a lower level tf just for fun should already be enough reason.
NO! You are not less powerful even if your level is lower. You have powers available above your level and you have IO sets and enhancements. You r lvl 50 should be able to steam roll lower level tf's if you know how to play. Which you should if you played to lvl 50 the honest way.
Power-wise you'll have your level 26, 28 and 30 powers. Obviously how hard this hits you is powerset dependent. -
Quote:^This this this!!Double the merits is a waste of time?
Can I have yours? You obviously don't care about them.
Being able to run a Sister on your lower characters because there's enough people doing them regularly that you can find a team, and therefore gain credit toward TFC, which is a useful accolade?
Yes, please. I hope they do the same with some of the other lower TFs.
Thankfully the Devs aren't as singularly focused as you seem to be.
I've a load of characters near enough this level range which means I'll be able to join in the fun for a change and get double merits too.
Must try and get my Warshade to 20 actually, he's even got 40 mill spare (thank you random Steadfast drop) to convert the 100 merit reward into two A-Merits at some point. -
Quote:Wrestling, Thundercats and the *other* MLP thread remained untouched.Ugh, are we back to the weird 'You can talk about steaks, because they were served near HeroCon!' Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon topic justification rules?
So I think it was more a case of deleted it without thinking and is simply unwilling to admit they made a mistake really.
Either that or there's a traumatic MLP related incident in Mod5s past which the images in the thread triggered memories of. -

Quote:Yep, Demoos were the reason for the AI change. Overall this was a disaster as it seemingly ignored the knock-on effect to every other pet in the game. Whomever did it should be strung up (although he may have already left Paragon Studios anyway).I think pets were plain derpy before/after that, tbh. I think they really broke out into the HURRer we have today when Demons came out. Everything suddenly seemed to get about ten times worse around then. IIRC, didn't Demons get patched because all they used to do was sit at range and pelt stuff, despite being a heavily melee set?
Some form of acknowledgement from Sunstorm / Black Scorpion that the issue is known and they are currently working on a fix would be welcome though. As-is it looks amateurish and unprofessional not to even have acknowledged a widely reported issue which affects a whole AT (and had knock on effects on numerous other sets in the game). -
Quote:Err, where are the enhancements?Ok, I just exported my current live build with TitanSentinel.

I can only assume IO Muling is the reason Stone Cages is 6 slotted while Stalagmites, Fossilize, Gasses and Quicksand are a little underslotted? (not to mention Tough not having any slots at all, even if you're softcapped surely it's nice to have 2 extra slots in here just as a fallback? ) -
Quote:That reminds me, on a middle of the day PuG a while back being teamed with a Stalker who didn't seem to do anything, he'd stand at the back of a fight. Then, when I died (I was playing one of my Domis, they tend to die a bit) I suddenly found myself TPed and Rezzed.I was on a team once months ago where there was a Stalker in the team and I noticed he kept getting held/disoriented/etc....then noticed in his build he didn't have his mez protection power.
This stalker also had Whirlwind....and used it (sometimes to start the fight with a group of mobs).... >_>
I did /tell him asking why he didn't have x power (forgot his secondary by now) and he thought it didn't do anything but I told him, "it stops you from getting held/etc"
He was a "Medic-stalker", with TP Friend and the full medicine pool (and this was early 20s) who specialized in corpse retrieval... -

Quote:The pub?I agree with you that the lack of official Meet & Greets is an area of concern, and one that I would love to address, time and budget permitting.
Here's a question for the EU players, aside from something like GamesCom, what do you feel would be the most appropriate venue were something like this possible? -
Quote:So you're saying they should be getting actual elves to play the elves in movies? I agree. For too long this discrimination again Elven Actors in the movie business has gone unopposed.I generally don't like Fantasy Elves in movies - they just get a human actor (admitedly usually slim with minimal body hair, but still...) and stick pointy ears on them. If Elves don't have large, slanted, almond-shaped eyes it just doesn't work, IMO.
'Course, I used to like Elves more than I do now, so whatevas. -
Quote:Given recent moves with enemies getting more ToHit buffs in things like Tips missions (currently mainly DE ones but high level Resistance also have +ToHit toggles) you might want to keep that buffer.First that is good to know about my def, I was kinda wondering how much cushion I would need. I am going to do a re-spec here soon and that will help me greatly with slotting.
I thought about the level difference and then I changed it to +0/8 and I still see the same numbers flying around.
The idea that the soft cap is the be-all and end-all is something the Devs seem to want to dislodge a bit. -
If a Server List Merge does happen I promise to spend at least 50 quid on Character Transfers from Virtue.
Actually wouldn't Usernames also potentially clash in addition to Globals? Hmmm.
*Edit : I suppose they'd have to do what they do on the boards, provide a "Choose Account Type" dropdown. -
And it's dreamy. Having Stamina from the get-go in Nova form is absolutely brilliant. I've found it pretty much impossible to run out of Stamina on my teen nova form.
-
I'm a turncoat, so I'm not sure if my feedback is needed here. But I'll give it anyway. I read during the day mostly, 9-5 GMT.
And yes, merge the server lists. You've already merged the boards, gutted the EU Community Team and moved the servers to the US. Time to implement the final step towards proper integration and the abolition of this silly regional divide. -
Quote:I had one of these with me running on a Citadel TF. They were constantly calling for "hugs for buffs" and saying "great heals, huh?" (even though we weren't taking much damage at all anyway). Meanwhile I was quietly playing my Plant/Emp and doing pretty much everything they were, but in the middle of combat (I just cast the Auras whenever they're up and I can get the most people in them) whilest also confusing the entire spawn, locking them in place and beating them to death with creepers. The worst build I ever saw was a team mate during a PUG.
She was a "dedicated healorz" who had all the Empathy primaries and only one from her Secondaries. Now, I can live with that. I have made a dedicated team healer myself on occasion.
However, my Empath never took anything from the Medicine Power Pool... much less ALL the powers from that pool.
She also took all four travel powers.
The others in the team ragged her about her build so long she ended up quitting the team, as I recall.
They dropped halfway through the last mission and no-one noticed until after we'd steamrolled the AV. Then the bug happened where you get the last mission again, so we steamrolled it again, this time just 6 of us as the Tank didn't join us either, so the Warshade took point instead
Quote:Played with a level 50 emp who'd skipped recovery aura (but not regen aura), fort, AB and CM.
My Plant/Emp didn't have Absorb Pain or the Rez and I always assumed somewhere down the line someone was going to shout at me because of it, but no-one ever has (I have the rez now thanks to inherent stamina freeing up some spots). -
Quote:This is completely and utterly wrong. Frankenslotting from level 30ish onwards will surpass SOs and still be dirt cheap if done right. There are alot of sets that suck at 20 and would play great at 50. But I am not going to play them because to me the whole point of a character is the journey and not the destination. Thats why playing with SO's is so important because your stuck with using them until you can be fully IOed out anyways.
It isn't rocket science. An easy to follow example : Targetted AOEs : 1 Acc, 3 Damage can be replaced with Airburst Acc/Dam, Dam/Recharge and Detonation Acc/Dam, Dam/Recharge.
Oh look, I've now got an extra 40-45% recharge on the power compared to the SO slotting. And I don't need to worry about reslotting this power until I hit 50. I do this with every Targetted AOE every character I am levelling has (and laugh at posts where people call Air Burst and Detonation "worthless").
What's also neat is that you don't need to Frankenslot the entire build in one go, you can just replace SOs (generally in pairs) as you go or as nice things drop for you. -
Quote:Actually the right answer here is "Which numbers?". The Holds, Immobs and Sleep are higher (longer durations) for Controllers, the debuffs (except Slow) are higher for Defenders. The defender numbers are far superior. I consider Defender TA on par with Traps.
Slows are the same (because Controllers and Defenders use the same modifiers and summon the same Glue Arrow patch).
Oil Slick arrow seems to summon the same patch regardless of AT. -
Quote:Pffft. Shows what you know bAss. Bright, clashing colours are in this season apparently (see, watching Gok Wan with the wife is useful sometimes).Sam, I'm gonna send the Fashion Police after you for using so many neon colors.
Sam, you've suddenly stumbled into being 'On Trend' and 'Fashionable' this Spring/Summer. -
Quote:Is there any real reason it couldn't be Lift itself? Doesn't have to be a massive AOE, 10 feet would be enough to make it pretty awesome and add more soft control to Grav.I always thought the set needed an AoE version of Lift somewhere in it. But then, I love KnockUp.
Propel should also be a narrow cone IMO, with a reduced animation time. When you compare it to NRG Assault blasts it becomes clear how much of a joke it really is.
I really like the idea for Dimension Patch here, but teammates on PuGs mightn't get it.
