It may be having issues, I just logged in but it took 5 minutes for the username/password screen to come up. My connection is just fine; while I was waiting I ran a speed test on my line and got 25 Mbs down/4 Mbs up.

I hadn't known the bit about Fearsome Stare, although I have 2 level 50 dark miasma characters. Interesting, I'd known that the power was very effective but hadn't realized it was bypassing most defenses.

Quote:The super leader (big red star) is the owner of the SG and has the power to kick anyone else in the SG. The only ways for a super leader to loose control would be by him promoting someone to his rank (thus turning the red star over) or by him being inactive long enough for the auto demote feature to kick in. I don't know if this has changed but it used to be that the first SG member to log in after the super leader was auto demoted ended up with the red star regardless of his starting rank. This could lead to a bottom rank member ending up with control.Just want to know if it's possible to kick the owner of a Supergroup.
It'd be such a drag if get removed from a supergroup that I founded and built from the ground up after mistrusting someone and promoting them to a rank that has kicking capabilities or abilities to adjust the natural demotion rate
I've never been demoted myself though due to inactivity
I'd advise caution in who you invite to the SG and only give those you trust access to the important stuff. For example you could have an inspiration bin accessible to everyone and other bins that only higher ranks can use. The same goes for enhancement tables... basic stuff goes into the general bin while the valuable stuff is restricted to high rank members. -
Quote:It's a bad thing if they decide to make things consistent by removing tags instead of adding them. I can also see it being a nerf to some powers that currently have ONLY a "type" flag instead of a "positional" flag... Blind comes immediately to mind there being "Psi" only. There's a few others, if memory serves I think all of them are Psi attacks. You say that like such a result is a bad thing. I'll admit that having to do the work might be a bad thing, but I can't see anything bad about that result...
Granted, I've only thought about it for about 20 secs....
Of course while it would be a nerf to those player powers it would be a buff to defense characters facing mobs like Carnie Master Illusionists. All in all even though I've several characters who would be negatively affected I think the tags should be added... it seems like an oversight that they haven't been there all along. -

Quote:Somehow I'm rooting for the Clock LT.Ah... No, I want moving peoples! You know, with those wiggly wiggly arms, flailing all about! Standing still is for Skyraiders! I wanna watch hoards of random things going on being random and random random ness! Moving bits, going round'n'round, clockwork and clockwork and clockwork duking it out (cwk, pcwk, praetorian!). Okay, maybe not that last one, but static images are soooo boring and 2004 (specifically, april 27th)!
Plus, then we'd finally find out who wins... Statesman, or the Clockwork LT! KLANG'N BANG'N!
The old comic series really pegged that arrogant SOB. Is it too much to hope that States is the one killed off in the new story arc? -
It isn't cheap, but here's my current build with CMA, it's been unkillable so far with the occasional insp for very tough content:
Code:Here's how things stood with the issue 19 launch with a considerably cheaper build with no purples. Quote:Actually I think it does recharge incarnate pets; it's time limited itself though so I don't see changing builds to be a very effective alternative.I've never seen anything definitive and I keep forgetting to test it myself. What about changing builds?
I know that recharges all non-incarnate powers including the mission teleport. Does it let you swap your incarnate options even if you were attacked recently and does it recharge them?
Also keep in mind that while you could craft different Lore pets you can't swap them out while one is recharging. That includes using your pets, then getting the salvage drop you need to craft the next tier... it won't let you craft that new tier until the pets recharge. I discovered that a few weeks ago and it was kind of a buzz kill. Oh, you can't equip or change incarnate abilities in Oroboros either, something about that zone prevents it. -
It's ok, a relatively quick TF dealing with a Sky Raider/Praetorian threat to the US Navy. While it isn't one of my favorite TF's I've done it several times and it isn't bad by any means.
You start by clearing the Raiders and a group of WarWalkers from a group of Navy cruisers, then go on to defeat an offshore invasion. Typically it will take ~45 minutes on average to complete, less if you speed it and more if you take your time and kill all.
I believe it came in with the Going Rogue (issue 18) release. -
Quote:Anything would be better than the ultra lame beta splash screen. Come on, the Statesdweeb punching out a generic clockwork LT? That shows an almost unbelievable lack of imagination and creativity... I know our art team is better than that. It's not that bad. It could definitely better showcase something about the game... Maybe showing Statesman (+friends), Lord Recluse (+buddies), and Emporer Cole (+homie Gs) about to engage in a 3-way clash.
Or, maybe a better idea: Rotating login screens. Have a number of different screens, and each time at startup randomly select one. You could have different screens showing off different aspects of the game... maybe each one featuring a different faction!
- Paragon's sig heroes
- Arachnos' top guys
- Cole&friends (with a clockwork in the background watering some plants)
- Circle of Thorns
- Skullz (gathered on the street, with one in the background spray painting or something)
- Malta (making them shadowy figures)
- Nemesis soldiers (with the text 'The cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems!')
- Random scenes with players?
The ideas are endless! They could set it so that on first run it'll show a specific screen, and then after that it'll pick one at random (via a registry flag showing whether it's the first run or not), so that they can have the initial one something that'll represent the game well for a new player, while keeping it interesting. -
There's lots of costume change emotes and they're all different. Some are part of booster packs purchased at the Paragon store and some are included in the basic game. Once you have your second costume check out the emotes and find one that you like. By default a costume change is just an instant one second one costume the next second the other, selecting one of the change emotes adds an animation or effect at the transition. Some are cool, some are kind of silly and some are a waste of time.

Quote:You mean a costume change? Well, first you need to unlock a second costume; you can do that by running a mission for the tailor at level 20+ or by getting and turning in all the pieces of Halloween salvage to an NPC in Croatoa next to the train. Ah, just noticed you're playing redside... I'm not sure where the Halloween salvage NPC is there. The Halloween salvage is available on the market but it's expensive and I believe there's 4 pieces of it you'll need... the tailor's mission at 20 is an easy "kill 20" of a specific mob type.Hi, I like to asked how do I make the affect, like my character is in regular clothes then turn into super villain? Is this in the character creator?
Once you have unlocked a second costume slot you'll need to go to the tailor and create your new costume; by default your new costume will be an exact copy of your previous one.
Ok, after you've unlocked and created your second costume you can change back and forth at any time via the menu/costume or by typing (I think, I haven't used this command) /cc 00 or /cc 01. Costume 00 is your original, first costume slot while 01 is your second slot. As you'll see from the menu you have 4 costume slots available to you; each is opened the same way, at level 20 you can do a mission for the first tailor, at 30 you can do a mission for the tailor in the next zone and at 40 you can do a mission for the last tailor. Each time you unlock a new costume slot.
There are various costume change emotes you can use, if you go to menu/costume you'll see a drop down menu under your first costume slot, that selects what (if any) emote you want to do when you change costumes. The game does limit you to changing your costume every 30 seconds. -
Quote:Just hit the print screen (PrtScn) button on your keyboard; it saves to a "screenshots" folder in your COH directory.Hi All: I like to know what the code to take screenshot ingame please? Also I just joined today, my 1st post
By default a screenshot does NOT include the User Interface, I know there's a command to include it but it escapes me at the moment.
Oh, and let me welcome you to the game! They must be doing something right to keep so many of us playing for 4, 5, 6 or even 7 years.

Quote:I THINK you're saying that while Stone is #1 you don't like the penalties and that you like Invuln and Electric while not being sure about Ice.eh it give the most well-built its granite but i hate the almost 0 damage out put but i guess its great if you only want to tank
i found that ELA as some good res too but it depends on what you like but try out inv and WP willpower has a good advantge but the edges go to inv sadly but the ELA can end up 77.6ish to res on S/L has a good res to psi and energy and NE and well-capped fire and cold end up good too so each tank ids a great value in its own way and those res %s are not from that power surge. So really each tank has its own things all tanks are good fire armor its really a more farmer type i know some disagree but its true. Ice im just not convinced alot on.
Please, think about what you've written before posting... that's very hard to decipher. I'm sure you're an intelligent person, unfortunately what comes across in your post is mainly gibberish. It creates the impression of a young child, not that of a mature, intelligent person. -
For pure survivability nothing else in the game (except Phantom Army) equals a Stone tanker in Granite+Rooted. Even on SO enhancements with a decent build that's an unkillable brick wall. On the other hand you pay for that durability with penalties to recharge, damage output and especially mobility. I've taken Stone to 50 twice, once as Stone/Energy (do yourself a favor and avoid this combo) and once as Stone/Fire, a MUCH better choice. I enjoyed the set but I admit the drawbacks get frustrating at times.
Second to Stone with none of the drawbacks is a well built soft capped Invuln tanker; in my opinion the best all around tanking set. It combines 90% Smash/Lethal resistance with decent defense to all damage types but Psi (which is rare enough to be a non-issue 99% of the time). Adding a moderate amount of IO sets raises your defenses to the 45% soft cap creating something almost as tough as Stone with full mobility, recharge and damage output. Invuln is my favorite tanker set and my namesake was my first 50 and is my go-to character for a tough tanking job.
Willpower can be quite durable but it suffers from by far the worst aggro abilities of any of the tanker sets... it's aura is 10% as effective as any other set. I wouldn't suggest WP if you intend to be a team meatshield tanker; it's much less suited to the task. I've not played one myself to any significant level but I've never teamed with one who could do more than a mediocre job at aggro control. Unfortunately Willpower offers great durability yet lacks the tools to make use of that durability in protecting the team.
Shield with very minor IO sets can soft cap it's defenses and it does have moderate resistances to back them up. It's one of the most offensive builds with a damage boosting aura and a massive AOE attack. Durability wise it falls in somewhat below Invuln but it's quite capable of handling most anything you'd throw at it. I've taken a Shield/Fire to 50 and while it isn't as tough as Invuln I've managed to tank most everything in the game with it.
Ice is your aggro king; you get the fastest cycling taunt aura in the game to instantly grab attention and another damaging aura to lock it down hard. Once an Ice tanker gets aggro nothing is going to get it away. On the other hand Ice comes with a bit less durability than Shield so you can occasionally get in over your head. Still, while my Ice/Electric tank is only 39 right now I'm not having any real issues with him. I see no reason why a well built Ice shouldn't be up for nearly any challenge... it'll just need a bit more care than a Stone or Invuln.
That's the sets I have much experience with; I know of a couple of Fire tankers who are incredibly durable but they've dumped many billions of inf into their builds. With a more realistic build Fire's going to be a good bit squishier than the leading sets. I hear good things about Dark but it's one of the rarer sets so I haven't seen it in action much at high levels. Electric has good resistances and with a high end build adding considerable amounts of defense it's another beast... at it's base levels of performance it's a middle of the pack set. -
Quote:Duh, I forgot about that possibility; there are a few mobs with a placate that would cause that effect. They're fairly rare but they exist. Some of the Arachnos mobs also have, but rarely use, that power. On targets: There's at least one boss in a villain tip mission (I don't remember the name of the mission or the boss) that has a placate power making them impossible to target temporarily. There may be others.
If your target placated you then you'd instantly swap targets to the nearest enemy and be unable to go back to your original target for a few seconds... he'd show up as an invalid target. -
Quote:Yes, a good team probably could compensate for a poor player scattering mobs with KB, but that player is having a very noticeable effect on the speed and efficiency of the team. Someone who uses KB indiscriminately and scatters mobs drastically reduces the ability of a tanker to control aggro, of an AOE heavy team to eliminate mobs quickly, a debuffer to debuff a spawn and of a controller to control.I see how it is a problem for meleers and for AoE, but my issue is if someone took the power, then why not use it. Besides, a good team will be able to compensate for spread out opponents and shouldn't really be an issue. If you got, use it I say.
If you're playing a set with KB either learn to use it effectively or play another set. Otherwise don't be surprised if you wind up on people's "don't team with this person" lists.
Quote:I have been on the melee side of things, and oh well, chase em, smash em. Agreed though, in some of the maps, it can be a bit of a problem. Shouldn't get rid of it.
A GOOD player will use KB to bunch mobs closely together allowing the team to kill them faster. A BAD player will use KB to scatter that tight group to the far corners of the map. Guess which one is more common? -
With the targeting is it possible you accidentally hit whatever button you've bound to target_next (tab by default) or target_closest? I've done that myself a time or two; also I occasionally line up a cone, the target dies as I hit the attack and I lock onto a loner behind me and let fly with the cone.
Inspirations don't take effect instantly; greens heal you but you can take damage faster than the heal gives it back, purples boost your def but an enemy who's queued an attack as you pop it gets to make his attack roll before the insp takes effect and so forth.
Power recharge lag is usually caused by server side lag; Rikti Invasions, Mothership Raids and the third mission of the ITF are classic cases of this. Any time there's lots of players and/or enemies in a relatively close area with lots of power effects going off you're likely to get server lag. -
Absolutely no question... the +regen side is far superior. With the +HP you get a fixed HP boost that rapidly decays to negligible amounts. The +regen side starts out with Instant Healing level of regeneration and drops to roughly willpower levels for half it's duration finishing out with +200% at the tail end.
The Rebirth Radial tree is so startlingly superior to the Core tree that something really seems amiss in the design of the power. The Core tree doesn't even boost HP according to AT modifiers, it's a fixed amount for all AT's. You'll gain much more HP over the duration with the Radial thanks to it's regeneration.
As a point of clarification, unless things have changed the game does not count healing for badge purposes beyond an AT's base HP. An example of this is that as a tanker I only got credit for damage and others only got credit for healing me up to my base HP... the boosted HP from accolades and Dull Pain were ignored for those badges. This was extensively tested in the old damage farms where one character stands in lava while another has heal other on auto.
It's always possible this has changed but that's how it worked back prior to issue 9; I haven't checked it since. -
On the other hand if you have a freespec sitting there you may as well use it; after all you'll get another shortly and it isn't like you can save them up. Use it or loose it. If I was at all thinking about changing my build I'd certainly burn the last freespec before issue 21 drops a new one in it's place.

Quote:I did not say anything of the sort, I just said that the other thread had accomplished exactly nothing in a year. That being the case obviously it was an exercise in futility posting there. Possibly it's equally futile posting here as well but it can't hurt and may have some effect. Oh, and this isn't "my" thread, I just posted in it like you did. By that measure it's your thread as well.Oh hey, your special thread over here fixed the forums? Awesome.
For now my expectations are very low that anything will improve in the forum's functionality. I don't expect any fix as apparently the forums aren't anything the web team are interested in maintaining.
<now for the control-a, control-c routine we've all become accustomed to before posting> -
Quote:Why? Because that original thread was having so much effect? At least we've had SOME redname comment here even if it's simply a "passing the info along to the appropriate party" answer. Please, can we keep this in the original thread? It's going to be hard celebrating two birthdays a year.
That original thread accomplished absolutely nothing in a YEAR; by that measure it was a pointless waste of time. It's still completely inexcusable for something this blatantly broken to be totally ignored for all this time. It never happened that I recall on the old forums and didn't happen on these until last year... obviously they broke something and can't be bothered to fix it. -
Since you're a returning player chances are you have a freespec from previous issues waiting on your characters. Because these don't stack and you're going to get another when issue 21 drops it's a "use it or loose it" situation. To check if you have a freespec on your character simply type /respec in the chat window... if it takes you into the respec screen then you have a freespec. If it says something about needing to see Jack Wolf in Galaxy City then you don't have one. If you do have a freespec I suggest using it to make any changes you need now, then you can use the freespec that'll come with issue 21 to tweak things for the new issue.
Important! Download Mid's Hero Designer to work out your new build and Titan Sentinel to export your current, live build into Mid's before you start your respec. It's amazingly easy to screw up a build if you don't have a design worked out ahead of time. -
Any time I'm forming a TF I'll take pretty much whoever asks until the TF is full. Frequently I have someone ask me what we need... I usually comment with a general "we have X and Y and could probably use Z but bring whatever you like and we'll make it work". There's a VERY few cases where something specific is helpful; the Hami portion of the LGTF is REALLY tough without holds for the greens for example.
I like to have debuffs and damage on a team with a sprinkling of support (tank, buffs, etc) but all I really care about is a competent player behind the keyboard. Occasionally I get a rookie and that's fine, everyone needs to learn sometime. As long as they're willing to learn I don't have any problem. -
Quote:The last time I recall an issue that didn't give a freespec was issue 3... every other issue has granted one, and one or two recently have granted two, usually one when the issue goes live and another a week or two later.I dont remember any issues that didnt have freespecs, at least while i have been playing. To me its almost something that just comes with issues, maybe in the future it will be a VIP only thing.
Based on the long standing tradition I would be shocked if we didn't get at least one freespec with issue 21. It costs them nothing and it's something they've done every issue for the last 6+ years. We may or may not get a second freespec a week or two later but it's nearly certain we'll get one when i21 launches.
