Radiation and Sonic easily done with by using Energy Melee, unless it's just about the secondary effects.

Gravity Melee? What exactly would that be? Like Gravity Control, only melee range?

Illusion Melee? Kinetic Melee movements with Illusion style secondary effects?

Plant...so a mostly Lethal set with a toxic DoT ala Spines? Why not roll Spines and call it plant melee?

Psi Melee okay, there's no PSI Damage set, can't say anything on this one.

Now I'm not saying I wouldn't want any of these. The game mechanics of the sets could be interresting, and even more so if they have awesome animations to go along with them.

Energy Damage...Energy melee, Kinetic Melee, Electrical Melee...that's 3 sets with Energy damage, so adding another wouldn't really be adding anything new to the damage types, over more Smashing/Lethal. And out of those three Energy damage sets, only EM is not given to one Melee AT (Scrappers) while the other two are on all melee ATs.

GR was around 30 dollars wasn't it? Maybe a bit more. I don't recall it being 25 dollars right off the bat. But going with 30 dollars...

30 + 4 boosters packs (you were okay with entering contests to get them)...so 70 dollars.

Maybe 80 if you want to include the Origin Pack, even if you didn't buy it. If you don't spend all the points, then you obviously save them for the next year and allis well. If you spend them all and still want more, then you know you're paying more than the previous year in extra goodies.

Though that said, I think the things like the Enhancement Unslotter would have been a paid for feature even if they didn't go F2P.

Also, take into account they're giving a free server transfer a month to VIPs, so that's a 10 dollar value (or at least in their eyes I would think they see it that way). Seeing as how I've spent over 50 dollars at least (and I suspect at least a 100) in server transfere costs...this part will actually save me money! :O

This is a very good point.

I'd say the Radiation Melee sounds good, but Energy Melee can easily be seen as Radiation Melee (thought I expect at some point to see a Radiation Melee set regardless of this fact).

Sonic Melee? Well really, EM can work for this too.

But I think it comes down to people wanting an Elemental Damage set with the benefits they're looking for in the secondary effects.

I admit though, while I love the idea of a Buster Sword Scrapper (I will be making one), I didnt think it would be the next set.

I was expecting Staff or Dual Blunt Objects or even Scythes before Buster Swords.

I think we could get a compromise. Players make up their versions of signature characters for a contest, and once submitted and selected, the developers could alter it as they see to make it the best fit. Players could also suggest some unique costume pieces and such to be added to the characters in the submission form.
this is true. But then I'd worry that the one who won just made a worse outfit.

Look at the suggestions posted already. The idea for a new Swan? Doesn't fir Swan at all, and really, that's what I fear seeing win out, because there's lots of people out there who don't care for spandex superheroes.

"Got to have that bullet proof vest! I'm not bullet proof! I need to be realistic!"

"What about the fire, the ice shards, the swords, the soul sucking magic, the electrical attacks, and anything basically that isn't a bullet?"

"The bullet proof vest protects against all that too! Duh!"

    "That's not realistic."

    "It is too!"

And thusly why I'd prefere we just say "Devs update them" rather than leave it in player hands.

I don't know what drops your crafting, but I'm pretty sure I've seen a bunch of my crafted set IOs sit and sit and sit in the AH waiting to be bought, and that was selling them at 5 inf a pop to just get the first bid in.

Unless you mean the Generic IO recipes, which don't see for all that much unless crafted, but then looking at the prices of some of that salvage needed, you'd make just as much profit selling the level 50 generic recipe to the vendor.

Well I totally see the +Regen going on.

I also don't want to see any power that is teammate target only in the set however. I want to see something along the lines of Dark Miasma, which has teammate buffing powers (and Time Manipulation could have a power similar to Shadowfall, but only have positional defense, because really, typed defense doesnt make sense) but they also work on you!

You can take every power in Dark Miasma and use them solo. That's what I want to see for Time Manipulation.

You wish list makes me sad (or half wishlist/half fear list?).

And Electric Control is considered good. Demon Summoning is good (I didn't have a problem with it) and Kinetic Melee is a top set.

Now I love Dual Pistols, but I'll give you that one.

So how exactly have the last four sets they've released been bad? o.O

Yep, that's totally the same as a samurai, or knight.
Realistic? You're playing a game about superheroes. Realistic wielding of weapons is not a real concern.

All this commotion over giant swords, never mind the fact that we have shields that as a western superhero convention is limited to a VERY minor set of heroes.

And to the Marvel Staff using hero isn't French. He's Cajun.

This argument is always frustrating to me. Not everyone's character is a mask-and-cape superhero. For some characters, it's their daily job and there's no secret identity involved. Some characters are just magical beings who are out doing good. Some characters are undercover Resistance or Loyalist characters, signing up as "Heroes" in order to spy on the works in Primal Earth. Some characters are villains and don't need a super-hero moniker.

Whatever the case, it is absolutely false to say that you HAVE to have <Adjective> <Noun> Silver-Age superhero names. You can run a random string of syllables together and be a djinn whose master ordered her out to fight crime so he can stay home and watch TV. It's up to you who your character is.
And some of us think it's stupid to play such a character in a MMO that started out as Comic Book Super Hero (as the game was originally advertised, don't kid yourself on how it's become after 7 years) ala the spandex (even if people right away went against that grind).

Sure you CAN do it that way, doesn't mean others want to do it that way, and in fact they may see playing the "I'm someone with a wrench and a business suit" quite stupid to play.

Maybe the idea of playing a djinn whose master ordered them out to fight crime is just laaaaame to people who came here to play a Super Hero ala Marvel and DC vein (as the game hyped itself up to be in the beginning).

Yes, I'm sure the names "John Q Smith" "Jaime L Preston" "Jacylnn C Finklestien" are perfectly fine for some people. For others (and I'd say MANY others) those names are not only boring, but the suckie.

I'm not really sure why these reasonable questions concerning lack of consistency with the new system as described keep being met with mystifying (player) responses that begin with "Well, if you quit today you'd lose access to everything...".
To my knowledge, those who had a subscription but let it lapse and play as Primium Members, dont lose access to Trollers/MMs.

It seems like there can be RNG badness (or my initial load of insp wears out) where I just get clobbered. I've taken to clicking on the painting and then fighting, as I have an "oh crap" button if I get a run of blue insp or such.

It does seem to take a bit of getting used to, and I did die a lot, but it was faster than a sewer run. I also have near 7000 tickets so I can buy rare and uncommon salvage when I need it. I guess getting him up to 40 will be nice for the recipe rolls. And he has to get to hero side.
The debt really isn't something to be worried about either.

I'm just worried, were as before I was getting new powersets for free (not counting the ones which came with the paid expansion, but I put those in a different category) with my monthly fee, I'm now either going to have to wait to get them (save up PP) or pay out extra to get them now.

I don't expect a powerset to cost more than 5-10 dollars worth of PP, but still never had to actually pay for any of the new sets (and I bought GR twice for one account, so it's not like I havent wasted money to get faster access to powersets).

My impression is that the monthly stipend is basically supposed to cover us buying most (if not all) of the stuff they release, so the end-result ends up being the same (with maybe some savings from having a VIP account)
They could have things cost less Paragon Points for the VIPs to make it even out, or have it so the VIPS don't have to pay as much as Premium/F2P.

Like Powerset costs 2400 PP. For VIPS it costs 800, so they'd have to save up 2 months or pay the 400 and then buy an additional 400.
