Okay. I had two people I know with facebooks account do the promotion. Both got the same code, and the code was said to already be in use.
Anyone know what would be going on? -
Quote:Question 1) It'd make sense more if the police didn't trust her or some such. Having the rights of Police Officers takes some of the fun out of things and assumes things like "You arrest them. You got a warrant so you're not breaking and entering."I'm seeing some very interesting replies so far, and it's confirming what I suspected - most people integrate their characters into the story to a greater extent than I do. It's a bit surprising that so many make standalone characters that don't directly relate to City of Heroes, though. That I hadn't expected.
Let's see if I can't refine the question a tad:
If you completely ignored the game's plot, would your characters and their actions still make sense in the game's existing setting?
If a piece of story required your character to feel a certain way or perform a certain action that goes against their concept, what would you do about it?
But over all, I think she'd fit in well, but then she's tied a bit to the Longbow in her background.
Question 2) I ignore and move on, or imagine it differently in my mind. Had to do that plenty when before GR, I had my redside version of my main.
Now it's not to hard to imagine a hero working in the RI, as you're taking on other criminals most of the time.
Taking on Longbow becomes a bit different. But then, I don't add things to the Longbow, like...you know...them attacking innocent civilians (which I still have yet to see any Longbow NPC do...who knows maybe the devs will change that at some point). -
I suspect there will be no throat punch or eye gouches, as it won't match up with height of characters vs height of enemies

Good thing the set will have different mechanics, as imo they could of done all this with Martial Arts with alternate animations.
Of course, with all the people I hear say "I hate combos" I bet they'll all play this set.
Could be a melee set with -Regen as part of one of it's combos by the sound of it though. -

Well, playing on Virtue, and there being a big RP community, I don't tie my main into being the one who discovered for instance that Hero One is Honoree.
Yes, it happened. Yes, she knows about it. But she wasn't the one discover it.
And really, in an RP sense, I'd laugh at anyone who said their character was the first to discover it.
Now if in a closer RP group this works, but when you go to open RP community, I'd laugh at it.
Of course, I also look at those with bios that makes them related to signature characters or responsible for whatever may happen in canon or due to game mechanics as being...well lets just say off.
I mean I RP that it rains in Paragon. Just because we don't see it due to game mechanic limitations doesn't make it so. We don't see it snow either. Do people just RP that it's warm all year long in Paragon, even during the winter events?
Again, if it's a closed group things like this become less of a matter. More so when it's just 1 person in their own little universe.
Basically, it depends. Am I trying to RP with the community at large or am I playing a character in it's own little world?
I came up with a concept once, the whole paragon universe was in the characters imagination, I was told it was a terrible RP concept because it effectively made everything everyone else RPed as not their character.
Personally, I think anything tacking themselves into game mechanics in such a way or attaching themselves to canon that much (like being the discoverer of such and such or the daughter of statesman) falls into the category of messing with every other character out there. May be different degrees but eh...if I'm covered with gasoline and lit on fire, throwing my charred dying body into lava isn't really doing much more damage.
That said, I do have my characters follow the canon in so much as, if I go up against Silver Mantis in a mission, then yes, my character is doing something to pit her against Silver Mantis (if she's an AV. I don't count it if it's not AV, as then it's like "Oh yeah. I fought Silver MAntis and kicked her ***. Of course...she wasn't at full strength, something was weakening her."
I'd rather say my character had to get help from someone. :P
Now my non RP, first 50...who did have a bio and all that, but it closed off into her own RP world, I tied her to Ms Liberty as a daughter of hers through stolen DNA and the Crey. And had her level up almost every single level in AP (maybe all, but I might have forgotten a couple levels...been awhile, so I dont recall). -
I have to say...right now...I dont think the actor is looking like Peter to me. But that could change with the movie.

Hulk only had 3 flaws...
1) Over use of the comic style frames. It wasn't bad. It was just over used.
2) Talbot's WTF IS THAT outline when he's caught in an explosion.
3) End fight scene. While I liked the "YOU WANT IT! YOU CAN HAVE IT!" style line, maybe they should of had a better fight scene before it got to that point.
With Incredible Hulk, I really just didnt have any complaints. -
I did something similar with my new FM/ELA Scrapper.
Tutorial to level 2.
Starting contant.
Street sweep last bar to lvl 5.
Headed to Hollows and did the first 2 contacts.
Then ran Posi 1 and Posi 2. -
Kioshi you are mistaken on Eagle's Claw.
Stalker version of EC doesn't increase the crit chance on the next attack. That's the Scrapper version of EC.
Stalker version of EC has higher damage. -
Quote:Never got the idea that the Longbow were doing anything to the civilians in the Rogue Isles.I had a hard time playing Spider Blue, my Arachnos Soldier, until I met Hardcase.
(To be honest the VEAT storyline does not captivate me at all.)
I have always seen Recluse's philosophy as being "The strong thrive. The weak perish. That is as it should be."
Hardcase is a Redside contact who basically says, "Yeah, we may be tough, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't look after our own."
That led to Spider's philosophy: "The strong thrive-- and protect what is theirs."
In his mind, Spider Blue is a hero of the people of the Rogue Isles. He will fight to protect them and keep them from harm. In effect, he's saying, "I'm so strong I don't have to let the weak perish."
He acquires power. He beats up the Longbow invaders of his homeland-- and gladly does the same thing to the Freedom Phalanx and Vindicators when they show up on his turf.
But he also protects the people.
I like to say that he's Prince Namor with a sense of humor.
So, Spider Blue is definitely patriotic ... not to the government of the Rogue Isles, but to the people. It's his home. He defends it.
At least I've never seen the Longbow harassing civilians in game. In fact, I've only ever seen them trying to stop the groups who are trying to hurt the civilians. -
BrandX: A - t4, I - t4, J - t3, D - t4, L - t3 (Multiple t4 A and t3 J and L and another t3 Destiny)
Night Beat: A - t3, I - t3, J - t3
Then I have a couple with Alpha unlocked and that's it, not even slotted. -
Quote:One of the reasons I always thought the Citizen's Crime Fighting Act in game lore was dumb.Well, from a roleplaying standpoint, you're not an "***" but you may want to consider branching out a bit, but it's still understandable. As you've read from the above, quite a few characters tend to tie themselves less with government and state and more with their own ideals.
I mean, hell, look at the Morality Mission "One Good Spider", as a hero you're effectively making a public act of war on the Rogue Isles by publically attacking high ranking government officials (arbiters), assaulting the local militia (Arachnos itself), and taking away a political prisoner (the Rogue Bane Spider).
I'm sure in-universe, characters who do that would get chewed out by American government to hell and back, possibly even tried and sent to jail, or the Rogue Isles for trial.
They might not like Lord Recluse and his rule of the Rogue Isles, but he's apparently considered a legitimate leader of the Rogue Isles by this point and heroes going off and making such a show out of assaulting the place as American Citizens would certainly draw some ire and definitely falls WAAAAAAY out of the Citizen's Crime Fighting Act in-game where you're supposed to be following the same restrictions as the police.
but why is your hero supposedly doing this? because it's the right thing.
That said, notice how the Hero ID doesnt have one's real name?
That's because that license doesn't stop one from doing whatever in other countries.
In fact, the hero can go to the RI do it, and the American government can easily deny any responsibility on it.
All the license means is when in Paragon you follow the same restrictions as the police.
Mind you, my namesake doesn't. She goes the route of Spiderman/Daredevil/Batman...which means breaking and entering, assault, and generally things police officers couldnt get away with. -
Quote:Barrier? Really? I think I much prefere Rebirth (Heal/Regen) for my WPs.I agree it's probably not worth it here, unless you don't mind doing everything you've done all over again.
WP is a different beast than Elec. You already get an aggro aura as a scrapper, so one of the biggest benefits of going brute doesn't matter as much (although as RttC is weak by itself, it's still a small improvement, but moreso for tanking than soloing/pure damage).
While brutes have more HP, it's in the range of ~10% or so. Such a small amount isn't going to make or break the character, it's certainly not the same as 250% as much energy resistance.
As for the resistance cap, it can come into play if you go Cardiac and use SotW, and it is definitely nice considering S/L is the most common damage type. Barrier being the optimal Destiny choice (IMHO) for a WP character, that's another plus for the higher res cap.
Still, for that character, as a scrapper you're looking at a minimal damage loss (and arguably, in high +dam buff situations, which are rather common in team environments, you'd actually come out on top) and medium survivability difference compared to the brute version. I wouldn't sweat it. -
Quote:By the same reasoning, the Blaster can jump ahead and knock enemies into the Tank. Here it is, those who complain about Knockback - are lazy.
The Tank/Brute runs in and stops taunting the group and then punches the nearest boss in the face.
The right way to hold aggro is to jump OVER the group taunt the ones in fromnt and the whole mob turns. Then:
1) you are looking back at your team so you can catch stragglers and ambushes coming from behind.
2) Knockback - knocks them TO you.
3) Cones from the bad guys don't hit your team.
4) moving and rarely punching the same guy twice holds more aggro
So you then have foes that are turned away from your team, being knocked off their feet, taunted to the Tank, attacked by a moving tank so they switch back out of melee to shoot the tank and so are using their weakest attacks and aware of incoming ambushes.
I personally would have said - I am sorry for your limitations as a tank - if you like I can explain how you can allow people to use all of their powers and still be safe and kill quickly?
And the Tank can just as easily reply, I'm sorry for your limitations as a blaster - if you like I can explain how to use inspirations so you don't have to rely on me holding aggro, especially when even with taunt, an aggro aura, and gauntlet, aggro can be pulled from a tank due to superior damage. -

Kryptonians just didn't have a yellow sun on their homeworld.Yellow sunlight isn't even natural to kryptonians or their evolution, Clark is a Science hero he only has powers when being topped off by an external stimulus(yellow sunlight) which is about as natural as getting lung cancer from cigarettes
He's natural origin. -
Well lets see...
My namesake is based off a character I wrote about a long time ago. Changes of course insued upon character creation/RP.
Outfit has changed a lot as times gone by. Changes and changes. And have the basic idea of my namesake, which still gets revised time to time.
However, on my new alt, it really started with the idea of using the new "Flame" chest detail. I liked it a lot and wanted to use it.
Now deciding what type of character to go with it. I was thinking, I wanted a Supergirl/Powergirl type of character. Superstrong, bullets bouncing off the hero, but I had to have Fire in there.
Fire Melee/INV was my first thought. Knockdown procs in the Fire Melee attack to help with the Super Strong feeling, instead of Laser Beam Eyes, Id use Fire Blast.
Then I got to thinking. I didn't want to run /INV. It for sure gives the bullets bouncing off you feeling, but it has one click power outside of it's tier 9. I wanted something a bit more active.
So I loved over them and...FM/ELA! Build for S/L Defense, the set already has pretty decent S/L Resist. I'd go for Cardiac to get even MORE resist.
So, how to make the powers work themewise. Then I thought of Firestar. Her powers seemed like a perfect candidate for a FM/ELA type. So I'd use the basis of her type of powers to lead to what I was going for.
Next was the name. I wanted something Fire based. Went through many different thoughts for the name...happened to find "FyreGirl" was available. Snagged it!
The rest was just trying to come up with a costume I liked! Once that was done it's been pure win \o/ -
Manticore is a teleporter!
He was teleporter everyone in when this picture was taken. He's just in the teleport animation still, along with Sister Psyche. -
Quote:o.OMy problem is that the entire thing is a propaganda piece trying to get little girls to join a racist sexist cult...but hey, that's just me ^.^
Wow.
I don't think I've seen such an offensive post on these forums before.
Now I'm wondering when this thread will be locked or the post deleted. -
I will miss how almost no one ever went to GC! Now everyone will choose it!
Of course, maybe now we can end the ZIG being escaped from non-stop, as players will no longer escape from the Zig at the start.
-
Quote:That's just it. CAK did have a -Defense put into the attack, but they never made it possible to enhance the -Defense.I don't think you can put the -res proc into it in game, Mids or not.
So either people are thinking it will accept it and are wrong OR they changed it since the MA buffs, and I didn't know of it. -
-
Quote:When did they change MA to accept it in game?I fixed my Mids to accept it; however, I don't know if it'd be worth the 20% to do -Resist 10.3 sec...vs the 20% Lethal Dmg for 71.8. Although the 20% would stack nicely with my Debuff proc from Incarnate. If I really wanted to get the most out of -Resist I could throw the Fury of Gladiator into Shield charge or Dragon's Tail.

That's just the name of the ATs. It doesn't mean anything. In fact, it should have always been an OOC thing that none of the NPCs should of mentioned and should of stayed just a MMO mechanic.
They mean nothing. -
Quote:Yes, obviously the people at IDW haven't rwad the book or know anything about Twilight.you know, i hate to defend twilight, but base don what i have sene in the movies, the cullens are the exception. the group under the redhead are psychotic killers and the leadership callously murder a entire group of tourists like a bunch of ambulatory happy meals, so perhaps we are overstating our case a bit.
Edward was Emo. The Cullens were nice. And the other vampires...bloodthirsty killers who are more than happy to make you a meal.
