    Example:
-You start the mission with an objective: "Find Object X"
-Completing that spawns two objectives: "Find Object Y" and "Defeat Boss Z"
-After finishing BOTH of those objectives, an objective "Defeat the Final Boss" spawns
I took the liberty and extended that one a bit, so there doesnt have to be another suggestion for it with "OR" or "AND NOT".

Conceptually as well, it makes no sense for the trainers to be DANGEROUS areas.
I for instance dont like it because its supposed to be an invasion. It is dangerous. Aliens (or zombies) attack the citizens!
Heroes are supposed to fight back and protect the citizens, or take cover if they feel they are too weak. Not stand there in the middle of the action and chat with a trainer as if nothing was going on. (Like I said, as far as I am concerned all trainers and outdoor stores could just close and pretend to seek cover or fight back during invasions.)
You choosing not to take part in the city being invaded is frankly disrupting how I play the game, by using convenient game mechanics to just stand there as if that an event isnt happening at all. Immersion = 0.

    THIS.

During an invasion, the quality of life is greatly affected negatively.
How rude of the invaders. How dare they? Yet you demand that you can ignore it if you want to.

You might just as well request that invasions ask you if you want to be affected by them or able to just walk through them as if it wasnt there. Which quite defies the point of an invasion.

And no, it wasnt a dumb thread. It was a valid question/request, but you have to see that its not all "There is no reason not to do this so it must be done." There's other views of it and people that dont mind the current situation at all.

Ah. That is actually the impression I had. The problem to you is not where people gather, but that evil zone wide events force you to react on them in some way.

You might make a topic about that then, "Can being affected by zone events please be optional" or such. (Which I wont support, as zone events are an interesting part of the game design, and it would be immersion breaking if you could just ignore them.)
  3. Neat idea. Perhaps then more people see how ridiculously perma-present some of the normal GMs are.

(and while at it, said map could used a less totally washed out look with higher resolution too)

there is no Latin plural for the noun "bonus". If you want to pluralize it in English, use "bonuses".

The Latin "boni" is indeed a plural form, but a plural form of an adjective (which means "good", see its masculine declension for the genitive case), used to agree with a plural noun. Which isn't the case here.

And now, back to our regular programme.
I'll take that from you about the use in English, I'm not a native speaker.
  5. And mind you CoX flopped as much and utterly as it did in Europe because it came out the same time as WoW there and while WoW was advertised for all over the place Cryptic or NCSoft Europe thought that CoX didnt need any advertisement at all because people would learn of it on there own, somehow. If I recall correctly.

(I DO recall that ads for WoW were all over the place yet cant recall ever having seen a CoX one, and that WoW was quite popular here form the start. Plus that I thought it was the only game of its kind, where thousands of players play together online back then.
I only learned of CoX at all when friends form the US told me about it, and when I tried to get it it wasnt sold anymore around here in Europe, because it was such a flop.
I learned then that I needed the US version anyway to play with my friends as the Europe version is its totally separate own game, with different client, but I took a trial on the Europe version and it had a whole four whopping servers, one in German, one in French, and two in English. Mind you, Europe has WAY more citizens than northern America. But CoX was a flop here from the start. And likely so because hardly anyone ever found out about it.)

At any rate the 'more interaction with npcs' has been brought up several time already. Maybe now that the evil lords left to do that other MMO it can finally come and underline how CoX is not only MMO but also RPG?
  7. Well, on hero side its still much easier than on villain side.
Plus villains need the badge for an unlockable easily outlevelled contact.
And the lowered the requirement for the badge from 200 to a mere 50.
  8. And I would high-five him for it, honestly, were it not for said hit points bonus bug.
(given that the victim is farming afk, but otherwise such a 'rude' kill cant happen anyway)

Yes, I have /Will characters too, some have about 50% additional hit points with accolades and boni, and it is really a pain in my scaly butt to get any progress towards said badges. That could use dev love.

YET what annoys me much more is why the devs still allow badge progress while afk. That is stupid and pretty much defies the purpose of any badge attained in that way.

Just because you don't do that, doesn't mean that the power is broken. It still does exactly what it was meant for, and exactly what it advertises.

I'm sorry that you feel otherwise. However, in my opinion, I see no need for a change to the power.

    So for my part:
    /Unsigned.
    Agreed.
Sprint is fine as it is. You think it costs too much for you in combat yet is worth enough to have it on while traveling but not worth enough to slot it for End Reduction? Then turn it off in combat like other travel powers.

    @ "But Combat Jumping... "
Combat Jumping is, as the name suggests, partly a combat power. It gives slight Defense and good immobilize protection plus the ability to jump from one enemy group to the next even if the next is on a higher storey. It wouldnt make any sense mechanically or thematically to turn it off in Combat, as that's mostly what it's made for, like mentioned shield powers.

Also, it costs you the choice of an entire power pool if you dont take Super Jumping, and doesnt stack with it if you do. Sprint doesnt even cost you the choice of a single power, so it doesnt have to compete, and it would actually be bad design if it was a bigger bang for your End than powers you actually have to dedicate a power slot for.

  11. I admit I pondered lower priced models too to attract more players, and more to keep old players at it for its so nice but the imcome that needs to keep flowing and reputation are problems of course.

Now what I COULD see is lowering it for veterans, and a higher amount of people making up for the lower costs, like,

You brought one paying new player to the game: Pay only 14$ per month.
After two years of paying: Pay one dollar less or get special non-character-related non-ingame-mechanics-related goodness when you pay full (lots of extra slots, stats of your characters, homepage for your char or SG, no market purges, ...) (that you might otherwise have to pay extra for).

Or a discount price for "Basic" account that does not include AE (can join AE missions on a team but not select nor create them) and Going Rogue if its fully optional content as I understand it, but I also understood the latter wont be for free either way.
So I guess they better stick with what they planned, they're likely experienced enough in it.
  12. Especially since there is not even a way it can go wrong.
You co-op with someone or yourself on another account, happily defeating each other for merits with varying characters, and if some real PvPers in the now fuller zone come by? All they can do is defeat you, and that's what you wanted anyway!
I can also see people running around hoping to be defeated then, with all toggles off, as its just so much faster an easier to faceplant twice than to win once.

Now one goodie drop chance with every win and with every x minutes spent in a PvP zone NOT in hospital NOT dead NOT hidden NOT afk NOT whatever I forgot? Sure, why not.

The latter would be like a "reward for not being defeated" then, better than a reward for being defeated I think. And less farmable.
  13. Its good to see people still would like that.
And yes je_saist, I can imagine that. I clicked them all the time when I was new, as they say they got the latest scoop. But they dont. I recall there is something like a monthly "City Scoop", but like so many other things about the game its something that you have to dig for outside of the game. (Very bad design that imo. When its official info to some events or story background, it should be accessible inside the game.)

On the other side I always wished (and asked) for more NPC interaction.
Why doesnt the newsie have the news?
Why cant the security chief tell me about the zone without me having the mission?
Why cant I give the panhandler a dime?
Why cant a cop give me some info on the local gangs and their whereabouts in a list menu?
Why cant a pedestrian give me directions to a neighborhood or brief story of the zone I'm in?*
Why cant I take a pamphlet, especially from miners and Ludites on villain side? Maybe I DO want to find out about the PTS or Cage Corporation. Why am I immediately attacked, and not just when I attack them or stand there without taking one for too long?
Why cant I buy something at a street vendor and end up with a snack in my hand that I can pull out again with '/e lastbought' e.g.?

*They might have a random list of things they know about, and conversation options for inquiring about this zone, this neighborhood, adjacent neighborhoods, villain groups you need to hunt for (click"Ask about Circle of Thorns activity". - "Seen any strange green glows or people in robes around lately?"), ask if they saw anything strange or dangerous around lately, ask for the time.

There could even be (gasp!) little side missions that some pedestrians or cops have randomly available.
  14. BlueRaptor

    Laser pistols??

    No can haz.
When we cant have "laser" rifles unless you take a robotic mastermind and leave away the robots, you cant have laser pistols either.

No, seriously. "Laser" rifles and pistols as their own sets would make sense for the different damage type label I guess, but I would be fine already with an option for it in the power customizations for the existing rifle and pistol sets.
  15. Yep.
But whenever the devs lend you a little finger, there are always some who demand the entire arm.

No, they say when I ask them why they dont just suggest no limitations at all, as that is where it will lead to if the devs give in each time such a request is made. Would be even more convenient, not?
"No, you are totally overreacting! We only want THIS little bit more after they gave us that other little bit."
Request granted -> rinse and repeat.

    *sighs*

    Dead PvP

Yes, PvP is pretty much dead.
It hasnt been vividly alive before the changes though, but yes, after the changes it didnt get better.

Yes, merging all PvP zones to one instance would help.
Keep in mind naming issues and total inability to avoid any given person in PvP then though.

No, everyone moving their character to one server is not a solution, its a surrender. And makes it ever more dead for those who want to keep playing with their friend that all play (PvE only maybe) on a given server, and will have everyone on those other servers ask why the stupid PvP zones are around at all then.
  17. I agree with that the best way to learn PvP is not to walk into a zone alone and wait to be hit, but to go with someone who has been to that zone before.

Sadly, the PvP population is very low, so it often hard to find anybody in a PvP zone AT ALL. (and which leads to a viscous circle: low pop -> hard to find a team -> hard for newcomers -> low pop)

And that also makes the original idea even more difficult. There is nothing there you could split in half or thrids and have anything left at all. At least not on the server I am on, but I hear it's a general problem.
(And PvP post I13 now being TOTALLY different from PvE doesnt help newcomers to PvP either)

I utterly agree to this point.
How are people, and especially people that only PvE'ed so far, supposed to PvP when it does all those weird things that noone really understands and works totally different than PvE?

Sure, fighting against players is always different than fighting against npcs, but with all those weird hidden changes to PvE? Even I hardly set foot in PvP zones anymore for the changes happening to my character then that I first have to learn more about, and I DO have some casual PvP experience.
Well maybe I am weird myself, but I dont like being faceplanted and looking like a total whimp because I didnt understand the mechanics behind it.

For newcomers PvP must be that other game that other people with other builds play with different rules, where they have no chance because it has nothing to do with the PvE game they play.

  20. I actually prefer one big zone to two small ones I must say, especially to two war-walled boxes, and especially if the one big zone doesnt look all the same. (St. Martial is pretty neat at that, though the forest and the underground bits could be much larger.) But:

    Not only not-mind.
When I hit like 46 red side and was getting rather tired of Grandville I realized all excitdely that I was now over 45 and could go into two more zones from there! Monster Island and... I forgot.
I cant describe you how utterly underwhelmed I was when one was a few DE GM with a big hole in ground for Hamidon to spawn in, and the other was a COPY of a PART OF a hero zone with nothing but Rikti monkies and DE GM again, and NOTHING to do in either of them!
That was it? That are my alternatives from bouncing the tangle in Grandville all day or the one PvP zone where I am not stripped of some of my power?
Well that and the Co-Op zones, but when you played a hero already you know all those by heart, missions included.

Having less zones until 40 or 45 and assuming that each of them is several zones combined to one is OK (though they definitely need new starting CONTACTS in Mercy, with missions that are not Snakes, or Snakes, or more Snakes!), but near 50 / for end game villains need something else to do.

Definitely would sign for more than one level 50 PvP zone, too.
Maybe a free-for-all one where Villains and Heroes CAN team?

While a zone is invaded, trainers and Longbow should have more pressing things to do than training and selling.
We could request that all trainers and outside shops close down in a zone during invasion, would make it much more realistic and solve the problem, as there's no reason anymore not to block a trainer.

On the other hand, that stands to strong evidence why people suggesting events impact zones permanently, or until players band together to fight them is full of fail - players can't be arsed to attend every single event as it occurs, and that's quite normal. I don't, and I feel no shame in it.
The events are sure cool, but just like with the Giant Monsters, the devs totally overdo it with them. OF COURSE noone fights the banner thing anymore after he already did it six times in a row because they are like permanently on in at least one zone.
Just like noone cares when Scrapyard is around, because he is like always around, its seems rather rare when you can spend a few minutes in Sharkhead WITHOUT him being around.

So the giant Pumpkin is in St. Martial? Wow. He's in two other zones as well, and I just defeated him here, then went to Jack in Irons that was also there, and then the pumpkin spawned again immediately just where Jack fell over.

When something is CONSTANTLY around, noone cares that it is. How could they even? They'd never get to do anything else anymore.

If they'd be rarer, like in this case only at nights, (still dont see why it has to be night for two full weeks to celebrate one evening) so people could do their missions when the sun comes up to end the madness, then probably more would care again when such an event pops up.
  23. I tried saving and loading my keymappings with the buttons under the keymapping just yesterday and it didnt work.
Is there a trick for it?
(I'd appreciate if I didnt have to do console command hacks for things there are supposedly buttons for, that somehow got old somewhere in Counsterstrike 1.6 ...)
  24. The most recent infamy = money = lets make a bank for it discussion can be found here think: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=194074

And even though inf works a quite like money now that still isnt an argument for having different kinds of reward medals freely convertible into each other or (more than teh OP suggested) inf.

Plus I am not a fan of the self fulfillig prophecy of making inf more like money by claiming it already is like it. If the devs wanted inf to be money, rest assured you wouldnt have to wonder if it is.
