I enjoy melee attacks with a High DPA for Arenas, especially when you're trying to be as mobile as possible. Sometimes the only attacks you get in are ones you score wilst just passing by for an attack run. I'll suggest taking it and... maybe 5 slotting with a standard IO set. Since you wont be using it very often I would avoid Procs though. It'll be a bit situational, but will most likely help you in long run.

This is a build I've been toying around with for a while now for Arena PvP. I'd like some critique on it from those of you more knowledgable in PvP that me. Whithout further adieu, the build.

Are you joking? You guys just listed off his GOOD self heal. Use power boost, than pop Warmth for a nice bigger self heal when you need it, and smaller ones for free moments. That build is just fine and should do quite well in arenas. I would say get Hibern00b or Phase Shift, but if you''re strictly for arenas than I wouldn't bother. Those 2 powers are staples of running away in the big zone with places to hide. Like I said that build should do fine.
-
I definately agree on the buff to conditioning. Even just a small increase would make a difference in my opinion. Either that or give us a REAL inherent power. I could see the small "Conditioning" buff as just a base stat buff for us, and then a seperate inherent power, wether it be click or passive or whatever.
-
If you guys are still fighting then I shall come!

I wanna get a discussion going about how Radiation Blast for Blasters is going to work in PvP.
According to Mids', Rad blast's base damage for it's attacks is lower than the damage for Psy and for Sonic (all unslotted). Now, of course the -Def debuffs are going to hit hard, but I just dont see how those DeBuffs are going to make that big of a difference compared to the punch Sonic and Psy can pack. You could say that a Rad/Em will benefit more from the -Def debuffs thanks to Power Boost, but can't you say the same about the -Recharge and -Resistance debuffs from Psy and Rad respectively?
I understand that in the long run your target will get hit with more attacks as time goes on, but is that really more or as efficient than just hitting them hard? -
I'm interested in knowing this as well if anyone knows.
-
Im goig to be less specific and give information.
If you have 6 set bonuses that all offer the same bonus (IE 10% Regen), then only 5 of them count. However, the 5 bonus rule only applies to the SAME bonus being applied. So, you COULD have 5 10% regen bonuses and 5 12% regen bonuses, etc. -
I'd say Psy/ and Sonic/ are tied because they're more effective in theirown respect rather than being compared directly. In a straight out short-term fight I'd give it to Psy/, due to the number of Single target attacks and that Placate proc. Sonic/ is a bit better for long-term fights with the stacking (kinda, thanks to DR) -RES DeBuffs. In a fight the DPS looks about the sam, but the DPA is much different. It feels like more of a preference debate at this point.
For the Fire/ Build, yes, drop Fire Ball for Flares and drop Bone Smasher for Total Focus. I'd also say take Hibernation, because of how stupid useful it is for blasters. Also, you could possibly drop Acrobatics and slot the +KB resist IOs from Blassing of the Zephyr (into SJ) and Karma (into Froen Armor). -

Im wondering why in gravity do they put lift that does good knockup and now good damage in pvp, but give you a hold that provides the target 10000% KB and KU protection and 100 mag KB and KU protection.
So you cant throw a hold on someone, say a regen, that is running a toggle with KB and KU protection to surpress that toggle cause your just giving them more protection.
What a poorly designed set IMO.

Most of the powersets were designed before pvP even occured in this game. Go poorly design youself a game and try to have people NOT rage at you for makig something THEMEATIC. -

Heh the point I tried to make here was this ridiculous damage from pool power attacks are ruining PvP even more, but w/e xP

You wrote out a whole build to make a point about borked PvP? You're preaching to the masses buddy. -
Sorry I didn't show, I ended up on server duty at the last minute and was unable to log on. ><. I'll try to be there next time.
-
I'm usually a RPer, but I recently had an urge to roll some toons for PvP and not for RP. Are there any serious PvP SGs or VGs here on Virtue?
-
Honestly, I'd play a set that takes more skill than a set thats easier to use. If skill will make it better than I'm all for it. I'll post my build for a Sonic/Cold I'm working on.

orly?
I just finishd fooling around with a Sonic/Cold build that looks fairly useful. With all the Defense and Resistance DeBuffs it should my damage effectively tasty, not to mention most of my resistances are capped. Thermal doesn't seem very much like a PvP set to me, not to mention Electric Blasts damage output isnt that great. I realize -END is the only true Mez left in PvP due to the lack of Endurance, duh, but I'd rather be able to dish out some real damage.
Also, /Traps? /Sonic? I sense some trollin'. -
What are the current FotMs for PvP corruptors nowadays? I've been thinking about a few build ideas and can't seem to decide on any powersets. My only ideas so far are Energy or Rad primary, Cold or Rad secondary.
-
Now that you mention Electric Armor, how is it for Brutes in PvP nowadays?
-

PS. Arachnos soldiers never had elusivity, so the nerf to it should not have affected your melee crab at all.
[/ QUOTE ]
My Softcapped PvE defense is null and void in PvP, it's dragged down to 28% or so with all my toggles on, set bonuses or no. That may just be diminishing returns, but it's still a load of BS. -
Nice Poem! MY Crab's been gettin destroyed!
Oh wait...
...
I blame widows. -
[ QUOTE ]
DA is Crap in PVP simply because Dark Regen is pretty much worthless. PVP is chalk full of DA's lowest resisted dmg type Energy, with tons of Rads, Sonics, Energy, and Electrical powers in PVP .
[/ QUOTE ]
Swap out that secodary for Invul or willpower and you should be fine? Maybe telling the whats good instead would help him fix his build. -
I like this idea... its like PvP... only NOT BORKED. I'll have to pull a team together for it, but if I can get it done will surely post a screenie.
-
You should probably bring up something about the Elusivity Nerf they put in thanks to Widows ruining defense as a Protection type. All of my Defense-Based toons are now mangled (My melee crab, my Kat/SR). Perhaps that nerf could have been aimed directly at Widow's power effects in PvP, rather than everyone?
I barely ever PvP, and I could stand the I13 changes... a little (The only thing I liked was the added -Range DeBuff on Taunts, it gave m a reason to take them, after all). Once the Elusivity Nerf happened I just gave up. Dont ruin everyone because you released a class with the ability to be that amazing without testing it properly.
Also, this thread is just amazing, I was sick of Lurking it and had to vent. -
I may be able to go and bring my TanCrab. My crab has solo tanked every redside and co-op SF except Lord Recluse and can handle this too. Efter the ITF I can even take you on a LGTF, if you want.
-
I've been thinking of an Idea for a PvP toon and so far I have a few ideas. I'd like some input from you more experienced PvPers, as I'm not as well-versed. My Ideas so far are...
Rad/Cold Corruptor
Dark/Willpower (there must be a better secondary than this for PvP after they gimped Defnse) Stalker (with TP Foe)
Energy or Sonic/Devices or Energy Blaster (with Personal Force Field and Aid Self)
Cold/Psi Defender
I'm much more of an offense guy than a Mezz guy for PvP, my PvP main having been an Energy/Energy blaster for a while, I felt there was a change due. Im not a fan of Controllers much, but I could possibly get into a Dominator. However, Stalkers, Corruptors, Blasters, Brutes, Scrappers, and Defenders are my preferred ATs for PvP.
Also, I Have a Mercs/Traps MM I was planning on using for PvP, how are they in PvP? (I made him as a request to a friend for a PvP duo, not sure how he'll work solo). -
The Grave Diggers may suit your needs. We're forming from the remaining members of teh Dead Eye Gang, so our ranks are open to Mercenaries, Outlaws (like te rest of us :P), and Thugs. We have a small, but tight-knight group at the moment and are currently Building up members. We can help with leveling or build creation and all that Jazz (and yes Farming, but ONLY when you need it. Farming too much is just a sin).
Send me a /t @Mazzo Grave, or an in game email to Webmaster Grave, if you're interested.
